Perfect To Me

She's Suddenly Cool

It was a rainy, cold day in London and in three days I would be basking in the beautiful sights of Australia, and I could not wait. I’ve spent all day going around to shops and meeting up with my boss, to discuss the jobs details, all day and I was almost finished. I decided I wanted to treat myself and go to Topshop to purchase some new clothes for the trip. Just as I was stepping out of my car I was surrounded by a small group of girls and it threw me off guard.

“Um, can I help you?” I said to the group of about 10 young girls.

“Are you Abby? Harry’s girlfriend?” One girl, a blonde, asked me, with a sincere smile on her face.

“Yes, that’s me. You know Harry is on tour in the states right now, yes?” I curiously asked them as I adjusted my bag on my shoulder after placing my keys in it.

“Yeah we do! We’re here to see you!” A small, ginger haired, girl exclaimed to me. I instantly grew confused as to why they might want to see me.

“How’d you know I’d be here?”

“We saw you tweet a bit ago that you were going to go buy yourself some new things! So we figured you’d be coming this way, and here you are!” One girl in the back of the group yelled.

“Not to be rude or anything, but why’d you want to come see me if you know Harry is on tour?” I curiously asked as I started to relax around some of Harry’s fans.

“Because, we like you and Harry together. You’ll have us crackin’ up when you both tweet one another, like little school girls! We also feel like you’re the easiest girlfriend to meet because you aren’t always with the lads!” The blonde, that spoke earlier, said to me.

“You just seem really down to earth, we love Danielle and Eleanor too but we feel you’re the most normal one. You aren’t a professional dancer or a model; instead, you’re behind the lenses!” Another girl exclaimed to me.

“Wait, you all know I’m a photographer?” I asked them and, in reply, they nodded their heads. “How did you find that out?” I asked, curiously.

“We read it on some online articles and Harry tweeted something about you getting a really awesome photography gig!”

I stood there for another ten minutes talking to the girls because they seemed like nice fans, you know not like the crazy ones Harry will tell me about. When I looked down at my watch I saw what time it was and decided I needed to finish up my errands so I could get back to my apartment and cook dinner.

“Girls, as much as I’d love to stand here and chat with you some more, I have to finish up my errands for the day and get back to my apartment. So if you’ll excuse me I’m just going to head inside here,” I told them while I pointed to the store.

“Wait! Abby before you go, do you think we could get pictures with you?” The same blonde asked, and all the other girls agreed with her by nodding their heads. I let out a sigh and turned to them all.

“I don’t see why not,” I told them and spent the next fifteen minutes taking photos with each of the girls and giving them hugs goodbye. Once I finished I quickly went into the clothing store and let out a huge sigh of relief, finally ridding myself from the attention. It, honestly, felt weird receiving attention like that without Harry by my side, because that’s never happened before. I quickly let the previous event slip my mind as I walked around the store grabbing numerous items I liked. After some amount of time my phone started to vibrate in my back pocket and when I slid it out I saw Harry’s face flashing on the screen, I swiped my thumb across the screen and brought the phone to my ear.

“Jack’s whorehouse, you got the dough we got the hoe. This is Abby, how can I please you?” I, jokingly, said into the phone. I heard Harry’s laughter erupt through the phone and I immediately smiled at the familiar sound.

“I knew the whole photographer thing was a lie all a long!” Harry exclaimed and in response I only laughed at him.

“Yes Harold. It’s true I’m really a stripper named Flipper Sparkle,” I joked to him as I walked through the store some more. “What do you want?”

“Just wanted to see how my lovely girlfriend is doing,” Harry, nonchalantly, asked.

“Well, you’re girlfriend is currently treating herself to a shopping spree.”

“That sounds like fun, buy something sexy,” Harry, roughly, said into the phone and, not going to lie, he sounded hot.

“Eh, we’ll see. So I ran into some of your fans today. I should I say I was bombarded by some of your fans, I feel that is more appropriate,” I told him as I picked up a pair of boots to inspect them.

“Yeah? How’d that go?”

“It was fine. They were really sweet, I chatted with them for a bit, took some photos and then dismissed myself into clothing heaven,” I told him as I set the boots back down and carried on with my browsing again.

“They weren’t mean?” He, shockingly, asked.

“Nope. They even said they liked us together.”

“Wow, that’s good! Some fans asked about you today, I told them I missed you because I do,” Harry quietly said, he’s probably around the boys and doesn’t want to sound like a girl by telling me he misses me.

“I miss you too,” I told him as a smile set on my face.

“Are you excited for Australia?”

“No. I’m stoked!” I told him as I let out a giggle.

“I’m stoked for you! I love Australia and I know you’ll love it too.”

“Yeah, I can’t wait to get away from the crappy weather here and just have some fun. My dad is going to fly out there too. He claims he needs a vacation,” I told Harry while taking my items to a vacant dressing room.

“Yeah, I can agree with that. How’s the flat mate?” Harry asked, and I let out a loud groan at the thought of my flat mate. A week ago Charlotte moved out to London to get a feel for the city before she started her semester here, and also because she broke up with her boyfriend, Jake, and wanted to get away from Ohio as soon as possible. Ever since she moved in it has been a living hell. I mean she is my best friend but the girl drives me insane.

“She’s driving me insane, Har!” I told him as I, exasperatedly, took a seat on the bench in my dressing room.

“How so? I thought you loved living with her?”

“She is a complete slob, and she is constantly borrowing my stuff without asking! The other day she took my ring that was my Aunt Emilia’s when my grandparents found out she was going to graduate college with honors. I about killed her that day! I do love living with her, she just doesn’t understand that she needs to help out with cleaning and she needs to ask to use my things,” I complained to him while playing with the rings on my fingers.

“I’m sorry love. Things will get better, maybe you should just talk to her,” Harry advised me, and believe me I’ve thought about talking to her about it but my mind conjured up bad outcomes.

“Trust me, I want to but we’re both just so stubborn that it would end in a fight,” I told him, almost fed up with the topic.

“Well, if that does happen you have a copy of my house key and you could always go stay at my place until things blow over,” He offered and I forgot to tell him that I’ve already stayed at his house because of Charlotte.

“Oh! I forgot to tell you, like two days after she got her I stayed at your house. She brought home a random guy and I did not want to hear them all night,” I told Harry, the memory making me shutter at the sounds I heard the night of my best friend’s intimate gathering.

“And I’m just now finding out?” Harry said, with laughter in his voice.

“Yeah, I just forgot to tell you. Oh and if one of your coats is missing that’s because I took it because I liked it,” I also forgot to mention to him.

“Glad I’m finding out now instead of when I get home.”

“Speaking of you and getting home, how’s the tour?” I asked him, remembering that it ends in a week.

“It’s going good, kind of glad it’s coming to an end because I really need a break from all the tour events that go on. Which, by the way, I’m still upset you won’t let me fly out to Australia afterwards to be with you,” Harry mentioned and it caused me to frown.

“Harold, I told you, I want you and me to go on a vacation where it’s just you and I. My dad is going to be in Australia with me in plus, him and I just need some father-daughter time.”

“I know. In plus I’d rather have you all to myself so I can ravish you with love,” he seductively said into the phone. My cheeks instantly got hot.

“Yeah well don’t forget I have to do work as well Harry. “

“You’ve only told me that fifty times now. Niall wants me to tell you that Australia’s Nandos doesn’t compare to the UK’s Nandos,” Harry mentioned and I could hear Niall in the background speaking about why it doesn’t compare to the UK’s.

“Yes, because he would know that. Listen Harry, I’ve got to go. I’m at Topshop and I need to try my clothes on and then head back to my place. I’ll Skype you later yeah?” I asked him and waited for a reply while I started to take hangers off.

“Yeah, text me when you’re on your way home. I love you, babe,” Harry said and after I replied back with an ‘I love you as well’ we both hung up. After trying on my clothes I grabbed the pile of clothes I wanted to buy and made my way to the cash register. I set everything on the counter and pulled my wallet out of my purse and waited for the girl to ring me up.

“Did you find everything okay?” The younger, strawberry blonde, asked.

“Yes ma’am,” I told her and she started to scan all my items. I’d catch her every once and a while looking up at me and then looking back down. It was confusing. A few short minutes later she had finished and I was swiping my card.

“I don’t mean to bother you, but you are Harry Styles’ girlfriend right?” The cashier asked me and I smiled at her and nodded. “I thought so, I was just afraid to ask.”

“Don’t be afraid, at least you didn’t bombard me as I was stepping out of my car,” I told her and she laughed.

“Yeah I saw that but I wasn’t sure what was going on until you came into the store. You’re really lucky to be dating him, I’m Natalie by the way,” The girl, Natalie, told me.

“I really am. And not because he’s the Harry Styles of One Direction, but because he’s probably the sweetest guy I’ve ever met,” I told her and she nodded her head at me, like she knew.

“Is he really a ladies man?”

“To tell you the truth I don’t know. I’ve only known him since the end of March, beginning of April and I never really saw him interact with other girls. In plus, I don’t question him about it,” I, nonchalantly, told her.

“How come? If you don’t mind me asking,” Natalie asked and I waved her off.

“His past is his past and if he doesn’t want me knowing about it then that’s fine.”

“You are a wise one!” Natalie exclaimed and I simply laughed along with her.

“I was raised around a bunch of old people who would always tell me these wise quotes and such.”

“I know, this might sound creepy, but I follow you on Twitter and I’m like constantly retweeting all your wise beyond your year’s quotes because they are just so inspiring,” Natalie gushed to me.

“That’s sweet!! You’ll have to give me your username so I can follow you back!” I told her as she handed me my bags containing the clothes I bought and also gave me a piece of paper with her Twitter name on it. I continued to talk to her for a few more minutes until more customers came to check out and I bid her goodbye and went on my way back to my apartment. Once I had driven the short way back to my apartment I went to the elevator and rode it as it climbed to the third floor. I stuck my key into the lock and then opened my door to my apartment, where Sage greeted me by jumping on my legs. I petted her then walked past the living room and kitchen and opened the door to my bedroom, when I saw the sight of my room I dropped my bags and my mouth went agape. It was a mess and that was certainly not how I left it this morning. My clothes from my closet were thrown all over my room, my shoes were dumped on my bed, some of my jewelry messily dumped on my vanity, my makeup was lying in a pile on the floor, and what pissed me off the most was that my suitcase for Australia, that was half packed, was now empty. Charlotte had barged into my room while I was gone and made my room a complete disaster. I stomped out of my room and down the hall to what used to be my guest room, but was made her room when she moved in, only to find it empty. She wasn’t home and who knows where she ran off to, but right now I’m happy she isn’t here because I’m livid. I walked to the kitchen to grab a notepad and pen to write her a note when I saw dirty dishes sitting on the stone and leftover macaroni still sitting in the pan, the kitchen was repulsive. I grabbed the items I went into the kitchen to get and walked into the eating area where I sat down and aggressively wrote Charlotte a note.

Dear Charlotte Marie Hansen,

I’m fed up at this point. You crossed the line by destroying my room. I cannot live like this, you know I am not a slob and that I’m actually a clean freak. Yet, here you are, making a mess of my apartment, misplacing all my items, and taking my things without asking. Fix it right now, or I’m going to have to ask you to move out. I love you, I do. You’re my best friend and you’ve been with me through a lot but I can’t live in a pig sty. I’m an adult now and it’s time for you to be one as well. If you’re looking for me I’m at Harry’s for night. I can’t see you right now because I just really wanna punch you in the tits over and over again. I have Sage with me. Clean up my shit!

-Abby

After writing the note I taped it to her door then went in my room and packed a bag to take to Harry’s and gathered Sage’s items once I left my apartment I quickly hopped in my car to head to Harry’s place. Where I could be alone and not surrounded by a mess.

I could not wait until I went to Australia in three days.
