Chapter Four: Walmart!
The next day Monroe and I decided we had to go grocery shopping and start unpacking our things.
"Good thing we came two days early before we start work!" She said with relief as we pushed around a shopping car through the nearest Walmart. I wasn't a fan of Walmart, but I wasn't going to complain of actually finding a grocery store without getting lost.
"Yeah, no kidding." I said taking a list out of my purse of the necessities we needed. Then we could go from there, "And extra cash." I added looking at the list. "Okay, so what we need to get I made a list of, but after that we can get whatever. We have $200 for food. Try to get lots of things that will be good for awhile. Okay...uhm I have milk, breakfast food, pasta stuff (I put this on there for my own benefit because I loved pasta), eggs-," I looked up to make sure she was still listening, but Monroe had disappeared. Leaving me in the middle of the store looking like an idiot babbling to myself. Classy.
"Monroe!" I whisper yelled looking up and down the aisles. I finally passed my 5th aisle when I thought I saw a familiar figure. I backtracked and there she was in aisle #7 looking at the baking stuff. Typical. Monroe has had a knack for baking as long as I've known her. Whenever I've gone to her house she always had cookies, pies, cakes, or brownies of some sort made. And I will admit she wasn't bad at it either. Lets just put it this way, I was surprised we were still skinny as we were and not like 300 pounds.
I walked over to her and saw the cart already had two cookie bags, two brownie boxes, and she was now looking at how to make snickerdoodles on her phone.
"Monroe! You just left me standing there!" She looked up at me startled and innocent.
"I saw the baking aisle..."
"I see that." I said taking the box of whatever that was in her hand and threw it into the cart. I knew she would argue to put it in the cart anyway. I grabbed sugar and flour since we were in that aisle anyway. We then went looking for breakfast food. In the end we spent about $180 on groceries. We took another cab home with our $180 worth of groceries and finally arrived home. We put all the grocery bags on the counter and started emptying the contents, as we did this we discussed where we thought things should go. In the end we just put stuff in whatever place had room. Would we find anything later. Probably not.
By the time we got done it was about 1 in the afternoon. Monroe decided to make us a snack from something we had bought as I jogged up to my room quick to plug in my phone to its charger, when my computer beeped at me.
I walked over and swiveled the mouse. It popped up that I had three notifications on facebook. I logged in interested to what they were now. I had a friend request from someone I did not recognize, I hit the ignore button. A notification from Aunt Josie on my wall saying that she missed me, and one from Noel who had commented on my last status. Which had said, "Finally arrived in Long Beachand and beautiful new home. Love!"
His comment was, "Don't miss me too much out there ;)" I clicked the delete comment button, beyond pissed. When Monroe yelled up at me, "I hope mac n' cheese is alright!"
