My Secret Life
Chapter 5
(Liam's POV)
There was just something about Claire that made it impossible to forget about her. I don’t know why but she was permanently in my mind since Friday when I last saw her. We have been constantly texting despite mine and apparently her busy schedule. I had finally got the nerve to ask her out and we had decided to meet today and just hang out. I got this feeling that Claire didn’t like the boys from her asking to keep this a secret but I would deal with that later. I had of course agreed because she did just ask one little thing. Our first meeting was a strange one too and it kept replaying in my mind.
*Flashback*
I was a bit bored by the conversation that the boys and I were having so I start looking around. Suddenly my heart stops when I see a familiar face. I quickly get up and say I saw someone that I used to know and head over to that person.
“CASSIE?” I ask, but once I get a closer look at the girl I realize that she has blonde hair and blue eyes. The girl looks panicked though.
“No, sorry I’m Claire, and you are Liam from One Direction right?” She responds
I start to panic now worrying that she might be a crazy fan and attack me until the name registers. Then I realize Zayn said that the name of one of the girls we were going to meet was Claire and I wonder if it is her. I somehow feel this strange attraction to her. I am glad that she isn’t Cassie though. I don’t think that I could bare to see her all in love with Louis while he just tears her apart. I had always loved Cassie but since she was Harry’s sister I didn’t do anything. I regret that choice every day.
I am brought out of my thoughts of Cassie by a slight squeak. I turn and see two girls come up beside Claire and introduce themselves to me as Lila and Sarah. They must be major fans because Lila is squeaking with joy while Sarah seems just as excited. You can tell Claire is obviously not a fan but I lead the three girls over to where we are sitting and they each start a conversation while Claire and I start talking. I notice that we are slowly separating from the group and I have a feeling Claire is doing this on purpose. I don’t mind though as I love talking to her and now none of the boys will be here to disturb us. Soon though she gets a call and is informed it is time to leave which for some reason makes me really sad. We exchange numbers and she tells me to text her, which makes my heart do a flip for some reason.
*Flashback Over*
I check the clock and see that I should get ready to go out with Claire. I don’t really want to get noticed so I throw on a black hoodie and sunglasses. Thank god it was really sunny but cold outside so I fit right in. I had decided to take her out to lunch but after that I had to go into the studio for more recording. I wish we would have more time but we are both really busy. I’m still not sure what her job is though, and I make a mental note to ask her later. I finish getting ready and take one last look in the mirror to make sure that I look good.
I try to get out to the front door unnoticed but just as I get to the door Harry’s voice stops me. “Hey mate where are you going?” he asks.
I know that they will just chase me if I ignore him so I just say I am going to get some food and make sure to add that I will not get any for them. Niall says he’ll join me but I just tell him I want to do this alone. They can tell I’m keeping something from them but they just let it slide.
“Fine just remember we have to record at 1:30,” Louis reminds me.
I then get into the car and hurry to meet her. I get there a few minutes early and get us a table when she gets here right at 12:00 and smiles when she sees me. I can’t help but smile back. We both go and get our food then I lead her back to the table and we start talking while eating. It is so much fun talking to her and she has an opinion on almost anything. She then starts acting nervous then asks a strange question. “What do you think about Taylor Swift’s and Cassie Styles’ new song and music video?” she asks.
I am a bit surprised by the question and reply “I didn’t even know that they had a single together or that they were releasing a music video together” I respond.
She seems really surprised by this and responds “but Taylor and I, I mean Cassie Styles and Taylor Swift have been doing a lot of publicity and the remix they did together has been number one in all the charts for a while, how could you have not heard of it? Oh well it comes out next Friday and I really was wondering what you think of it but just forget I asked.”
I feel like there is a bit of urgency in her voice, which makes me want to hear this song even more. She changes the topic quickly and I almost completely forget about the song and music video. After talking a little more I see the time and suddenly panic. I tell her I have to go and we head out.
It is 1:27 by the time I am in the car driving and it is a 10 minute drive. I know I am usually the one stressing punctuality and I am going to hear about this later. By the time I get there it is 1:37 and all the boys are sitting there waiting for me. Once inside I put my hood down and take of my sunglasses. Of course Harry breaks the awkward silence building up by asking where I was. I just say sorry for being late and pretend like I didn’t hear Harry’s question. I remind them we need to start recording and that we have a very limited time before the next person comes here to record which gets us all started and we get to work. I hope that they will just forget about this so I don’t have to explain. After recording for a few hours we clean up and get ready to leave making sure that we saved all the work we did today.
Once we get to our flat the boys start questioning me.
“Where were you?”
“Were you on a date?”
“Who is the girl?”
“Can we meet her?
I get really annoyed and shout “STOP!”
I was still really distracted from something that Claire said. On my way here I had heard a Taylor Swift song on the radio which reminded me about the music video she mentioned. I knew this would distract the boys so I told them to give me a minute I needed to search something first. I then went to my computer and searched Taylor Swift and Cassie Styles new music video. The boys come over to where I am sitting and when Harry sees what I am searching he looks at me like I have gone crazy, but when he sees the results he seems really upset. I knew that it was bad that they were singing a song together but what was worse was that we all knew that Taylor had originally wrote the song about Harry. There was a link to the lyric video of that song on YouTube and I clicked on it. Honestly the song was really catchy. I knew what Harry did to Cassie as well as what Louis did and I knew she was hurt but I couldn’t believe that she would do this. I felt like it was low to team up with your brother’s ex-girlfriend and sing a song that was written out of pure hate towards him. We were all speechless at her betrayal. Me and the boys didn’t exactly get along with Taylor after that song and I guess Cassie has chosen her side of this feud. Suddenly Harry gets up and storms into his room and slams the door. I continue to do research on the video and find out that Taylor is the one that directed this and Cassie is the main actor. Now I can’t wait to see the video.
Soon all the lads are asleep because we have yet another busy day and we have to wake up extra early. I soon realize that it is getting really late and I head to my room but just as I am about to head I in hear what sniffles coming from Harry’s room. I am immediately worried and I think I probably shouldn’t have let him know about his sister’s latest music video. I am really worried so I go in without knocking and give him a hug. I then ask him if he is alright.
“Ya, I’m fine,” he says but his voice cracks in the middle.
“You know you can trust me Harry, and it will make you feel better to talk about it” I respond.
“I miss Cassie and it hurt to see her do that song with Taylor, I feel like she is just rubbing it in my face that I will never see her again and that she is happy about that. I don’t even get what I did. I should be the one that is mad, she did break my best friend’s heart.”
I sigh when I hear this and know that Louis has to give away his secret soon. “Harry, I think you need to get the full and real story about Cassie and I know I shouldn’t be telling you this but you need to get the real story about Cassie: it’s just not my place to tell it”
I know I shouldn’t have said that but I just couldn’t help it. He needs to learn what he has done and Louis can’t just get away with this leaving a lot of hurt people behind. Now I need to hope Louis will grow up and tell the truth. I am tired and I leave before giving him time to respond and let this sink in. I really hope that Louis’s mistake doesn’t ruin the whole band. It is such a long and tiring day I fall asleep right as I get in bed.
