“Thalia…I need to show you someone…” I agreed nervously knowing something was up.

“As we entered the lunch room, I spotted the gang. They all noticed my arrival and waved.

Except for Elli…she just rolled her eyes.

“Who do you want to show me…Jenn, what’s wrong.” I turned her around.

“Here come in here, he’s staring at us.”

“Who’s staring..” I turned and Jenn grabbed my shoulders and spun me back.

“Harry..”

“Why what’s wrong. Show me.” She led me towards the back of the lunchroom, and advised me to sit.

“Don’t look at her for too long, but you see that girl sitting down alone…Right there…Second table to the left.”

I looked over to see a girl, around my age..maybe a year older. She had a tiny frame, and looked severely malnourished. Like she hasn’t touched food in weeks. She wore a white tee and shorts, and as she looked fine to me…She just seemed a little depressed.

“What’s wrong with her..Who is she..”

“That’s Scarlett…One of Harry’s ex’s….but look at her face.”

“What’s wrong with her…oh my god” I felt like my blood had run cold. She turned a little, pulling her hair away from her food, and tucking it behind her ear. As she moved her hair away I saw a huge scar. A long deep slash in her cheek, and her left arm severely burned. I felt a pang in my chest, as I turned towards Jenn.

“What the hell happened to her…Jenn..did he do this to her..…did he do this to you?..”

“No, he didn’t..but he dated her for about a month..Nothing serious..they just, well she was just another one of those girls..At the time, he was always getting in trouble. He’d come in with multiple bruises, and all these cuts..but never explained why. Last year, everyone was terrified of him. He was a pompous jerk..who thought he was the shit..We had all thought that he had joined the gang…Not the gang now..But some sort of cult. That gang was infamous for recruiting people like Harry. I remember before seeing her like this, they were both absent for about a month. He came back fine, but she came back with that…scar. After that they never really talked and he sort of mellowed out, but even when we had a thing, he always was afraid of something. I remember him sleeping over one night and he was having a nightmare. He started talking in his sleep and I sort of let him. He kept saying all this stuff about wanting out and something with Hayes. He would be like “Hayes, I want out. I don’t want this.” And I would wake him up when he would scream “NOOOOO” it was weird, but I never really put all the pieces together till now. I’m sure if you wanted to know anything that she’d be the one with the answers.”

I gulped hard, knowing my only chance was now. I stood up and walked over to Scarlett’s table.

I could feel everyone’s eyes on me..especially Harry’s. I heard faint mumbling. “What is she doing…New girl going up to her…” and I heard Jenn whisper. “Thalia..what in bloody hell are you doing.. Don’t…” and I sat down next to her.


“Hi.”
