Wrecking Ball

Gray woke up the next morning feeling better then she probably should. She drank a lot of liquor from what she could remember, mostly because she was still angry with Liam. She told him the truth about San Francisco, what did he have to be such an ass about it? Gray hated the only way she truly was able to speak with him was when she had liquor in her system. For a couple that was supposed to be getting married, it was pretty crappy communication skills. They had to work on it, that was for sure. Gray got out of bed throwing on a random pair of Liam’s sweats before heading out into the living room. She had no clue where Liam or Spencer were. Gray walked out to see Liam sitting at the table alone with a cup in his hands. It was completely quiet in there making her already feel comfortable.

“Where’s Spencer,” she whispered to him not seeing her in the room. Liam put his cup down and looked at her. She could tell he barely slept, dark circles were under his eyes and his hair was sticking up every which way.

“Still with Anne.” The words came out bitterly through his mouth. Gray fought the urge to roll her eyes as she went to make coffee. Pouty immature Liam was back.

“Gray, we need to talk.” She could feel his eyes burn in the back of her body. She sighed, this is what they needed, to figure everything out. It was time to suck it up and do it. Gray finished her coffee and sat across from him at the table. Both of them didn’t know where to start. Their heads were filled with everything that had happened over these last months but neither of them could get the words out.

“I don’t want you to move to San Francisco, I want you here.” It came out more of a demand then a request making Gray move back in her chair.

“Liam, it’s not up to you anymore. You left me high and dry, what was I supposed to do,” she fired back. Gray bit her lip, don’t start the talk with attitude she told herself. It only makes everything much worse.

“I know, and I am sorry. I’m trying to get everything finished so we can start our lives together.” Gray took a sip of her coffee, of course it was that simple to him.

“So that means not coming anywhere near your child for months on end? I’m a big girl Liam, I can handle life without you in it but your daughter needs you. Have you even thought about her?” Her voice grew soft at the end just thinking about it. No child should have to go on without their dad. Gray had been there, and it’s hard.

“I know this Gray. Did you think I didn’t want to be there? That I didn’t try every possible option to come back to the States to see you two? What do you think I am doing here, partying? I don’t think you get it Gray, I have worked my arse off to get my part of this band finished and come back to you. Every damn day for hours at a time trying to get everything lined up for me to be with my family,” he said to her, his voice getting louder. Gray rolled her eyes this time, it was the same story she heard everything other day. Enough was enough.

“Then why did your band mate and his girlfriend came see us? Isn’t it a group deal, if he is off you aren’t off? Explain that one to me,” Gray spat back. She watched the look on his face change, seeing his eyes burn up with a pink hue.

“They came to you?” His voice barely whispered out. Gray knew he found himself busted, how he didn’t realize it she didn’t know.

“They did, they took time to see us. I just don’t get it Liam, please I’m begging you to explain this to me. Any other time you made severe attempts to see me, no matter what the cost. Plenty of times you worked on getting me there or you to Chicago but now all of a sudden you disappear. Poof. It felt like you didn’t even care.” She bit the inside of her cheek trying to stop the tears from coming. He didn’t deserve to see her cry. She was fighting for herself at this point, who cares if she sounded like a bitch or heartless. Liam deserved it.

“I don’t what I can say to you Gray to make you believe me at this point. I tried! I tried unbelievably hard,” Liam shouted, emphasizing the words. Gray slammed her coffee cup down on the table.

“I don’t believe you! I don’t Liam and I am NOT sorry about it! You left me, you left us! How am I supposed to forgive you, or get over this? Tell me, god damn it tell me!” She stood up forcefully and slammed her hands on the table. The tears started to fall down now and she didn’t care. Maybe he needed to see the anger in her body to fully get it. She was still mad at him, livid for doing this to her and Spencer. They needed him more than anything and he never showed.

“I don’t know love,” he started before Gray stopped him.

“No, you cannot call me that if it’s not true! You don’t love me! If you loved me you wouldn’t have left me!” She yelled at him, her voice flooding the apartment and probably the hallway too. She knew she should keep it down but nothing mattered at this point.

“What the fuck Gray! I do love you, I always have! Why are you acting like this,” he shouted back and stood. They stared each other down from across the table waiting to see who would make the first move.

“I don’t know Liam, maybe it’s because I just don’t fucking care anymore.” The words flew out between her locked jaw as she accentuated each one. Liam needed to hear it, every word. She just didn’t care. Truth be told it was a lie, she did care but Liam didn’t need to know that. Gray turned and headed to the door. She needed to see her daughters face at this point, anything to calm her down. Talking never got them anywhere she should of known by now. They yell, they argue, and they get nowhere.

“Where are you going,” he shouted at her. Gray didn’t even turn around.

“To get my daughter.” Her voice changed on ‘my’ just to piss him off more. Gray tried to open up the front door when Liam quickly grabbed her, spinning Gray around. He pushed his body up against hers pinning her to the door. Gray wiggled at his grasp but was unable to move her body under his. He towered above her, staring down with his cold dark brown eyes.

“You need to let me go,” she snapped at him trying to be brave. Right now her head was swirling around with thoughts. This was new; Liam never actually stopped her like this before. Half of her was beyond pissed while the other side was completely turned on.

“I’m not done speaking with you,” his deep voice loomed from above her. Gray moved again trying to free herself but Liam pushed his hips into her more. She wasn’t getting away this time.

“Spit it out then Liam. What more do you have to say? ‘Oh Love, I am so sorry, I did this for you’,” she spoke back, trying to intimidate his English accent. A smirk came over his face as he looked down at her.

“Are you quite finished,” he asked. His hand reached down from the door and tucked a fallen lock of hair back behind her ear. Gray knew what he was doing making her groan.

“Liam, you need to get off me now,” Gray warned him, trying to push his heavy body off with her hands. Liam stood still, unwilling to let go of her pinned body.

“I asked, are you quite finished,” he spoke again with the same sparkle in his eye. Gray groaned again. Fine, she would bow down to him and let him run these games.

“Quite,” she barked back. Within seconds his mouth landed on hers making her flinch. That was definitely not expected. He was more forceful then before, almost becoming sloppy with his mouth. Gray tried to push him back, not give him the satisfaction of joining but her body and mind weren’t meeting up. Before she could even stop herself, her mouth worked with hers with sharp forceful motions as neither of them pulled away. They needed this, both of them. They were hungry for each other. Gray’s hands made it to his hair, tugging and pulling at his roots from a mixture of anger and enjoyment. Angry making out was becoming more fun for her. Liam’s hands ran underneath her shirt and down her back leaving marks along the way. She groaned in his mouth from the right amount of pain and pleasure. She could barely catch her breath when his mouth pulled away from her causing her head to lurch forward. Her lips felt cold instantly, she needed him back here. Liam’s dark eyes stared down at her while his chest moved up and down rapidly.

“What,” she asked with a bitchy tone. Sure it was fun, but she wasn’t ready to wave the right flag just yet. Liam gave her an evil grin and pushed his mouth back on to hers. It surprised Gray again but she was more ready this time. Her arms locked around his neck and she pushed her hips into him more. A low groan from the base of his neck came through making her smile. Liam felt it too, her lips curved against his. He quickly looped his hands around her thighs and lifted her up. Gray shrieked in surprised as he spun their bodies around and locked her ankles right above his butt. Her lips moved fast over his, unwilling to not touch every part of him. It had been so long for them both, way too long they would even admit. Liam forcefully ran her body into a wall causing a picture on the wall to fall, crashing to the floor. It made Gray want him even more. Her hands scanned over his body not feeling like she could get close enough to him. She moaned in his mouth wanting more, so much more.

“Bedroom,” she whispered with a hoarse mouth. His eyes scanned her before he gave her a small grin. His hips dug into her more making her ankles come loose. Gray could barely contain herself. Liam’s whole body had her pinned against the wall while his mouth guided over her neck. Gray’s legs hung there like a child’s unable to move. She clung to him more trying to catch her breath.

“Now Liam, before I change my mind.” He got the hint and picked up her body and walked blind to the room in the back. Gray attacked the space behind his ear making him grab her harder. Liam kept walking until his shins hit the mattress. He kissed her one last time before throwing her body to the bed. She yelped in response as she tore her shirt off. Liam’s eyes glared at her body while his tongue licked his lips. He wanted her, all of her for so long now and it was finally his shot. She looked unbelievably amazing, her body had shrunk she he saw her so long ago. God how could he have done that to her? It was different when she wasn’t around, he could keep Gray out of his mind. Now though, he realized he missed so much.

Gray could see it in his eyes that he was over thinking something. More than likely their relationship together. Pain and confusion flashed over his face as he looked down at her. Gray crawled closer to him, letting her sweatpants fall with every move of her knees. They were too big to start with, one move and they fell. She ripped her shirt off too, letting it fall to the floor. Liam’s eyes were still glazed over she got to him in just her bra and panties.

“Liam,” she questioned, kissing his stomach through his shirt. He snapped out of it and looked down at her half naked body. His mouth went dry just looking at her.

“I suggest you stop thinking and get undressed.” Gray’s voice cracked with excitement. Liam quickly stripped off his shirt and pants not taking his eyes off of it. He kneeled on the bed in front of her and took her heads in both his hands.

“You know I love you more than anything, right,” he asked while his voice shook. Liam pressed their foreheads together trying to show how much love he had in his body for her. Gray closed her eyes, breathing in his scent. The kneeled together on the large king bed, both of them breathing hard with barely any clothes on.

“I love you Liam,” she whispered. It was all he needed to hear. His lips crashed onto hers has he pulled her body on top of him. They loved each other, that’s what mattered at this point.

----

“What do I feel like we got nothing accomplished,” Gray giggled, her hand lying on his bare chest. They laid in bed together, completely naked other then the pure navy blue sheet covering them. His fingers ran up and down her arm thinking about what she just ask.

“I feel like we figured out some things,” Liam came back with. Gray bent her head up to look at him.

“And what is that jailbait?” He looked down at her beautiful face and smiled.

“That I am heel over heads, deeply in love with you.” The words barely came out loud enough for Gray to process them. Her heart practically burst from beating so hard. She knew her face was covered in a sheet of pink, but it didn’t matter. Those were the words she needed to hear. Gray needed to know straight from him that he still loved her. They could work from there and figure out their issues as long as the love was still glowing. Gray crawled up in kissed him quickly before jumping out of bed.

“I love you too jailbait, but it’s time to get up.” She gathered her clothing from the floor and quickly put them on knowing he was watching her.

“Can I veto this decision,” he asked still not moving from the pillow.

“Nope, besides we need to pick up our daughter.”

Oh shit.

A look of shock came over his face. How could he forget about Spencer! She had been with Anne since last night and poor Anne was probably ready to cut loose. He felt like throwing up at that point. How he could forget about his child. He had to be the worst dad ever. Gray looked up at him, immediately knowing what was going through his head.

“You forgot, didn’t you?” Liam could hear the disappointment in her voice. She turned away from him quickly and threw on the rest of her clothes. Of course he forgot, he hadn’t been around them in weeks. Liam jumped out of bed, throwing on his own clothes before walking over to her.

“Gray, I’m so sorry. My brain just is mixed up from what we just did..” His voice trailed off as he ran out of excuses. Liam wrapped his arms around her waist, bringing her back into his stomach. She thought about fighting him on it but what was the point. It really wasn’t something she could get mad about, Liam just wasn’t there. Gray relaxed into him using his chest as a pillow.

“It’s fine Liam, it’s okay.” She told him, keeping her eyes shut. Liam flipped her body around wanting to look in her eyes. His voice could lie, but her eyes definitely couldn’t.

“Honest love, I never meant it that way,” Liam pleaded with her. Gray ran the back of her hand down his cheek and gave him a small smile.

“Liam, it’s okay. Come on, let’s go get her.” She winked at him before locking their fingers together. Gray took the lead down the hall pulling him with her. Liam stumbled along, unsure of what just happened.

“Wait, you aren’t going to yell, hit or call me bad names for forgetting about our own daughter,” he asked as they made it to the main hallway of the flat. Gray stopped in front of him.

“I should, trust me I should rip you apart right now but considering what we just did I am feeling pretty relaxed. Your only mistake though jailbait, anything after this point I have full reins to go apeshit crazy on you,” she told him sternly. An amusing look came over his face.

“Apeshit?”

“Yup, apeshit. You become an ass, I become your worst nightmare, now let’s go.” She pulled him into the elevator and pushed the up button. Gray leaned into his body and smiled up at him.

“Remember, I love you.” She told him honestly. They continued to make out there until the doors dinged open. Gray and Liam walked out hand in hand waiting to get their precious daughter and make their family whole again.

----

“My mum wants us over for dinner tonight,” Liam announced to her as they sat on the couch playing with Spencer. She was starting to smile now and move her eyes and hands with objects. Gray still had a hard time believing how little she was just weeks ago.

“Tonight! It’s already three,” Gray shrieked, jumping up from the couch.

“Yes, around seven. Relax it will be fine, she already spoke about just getting pizzas. Thought we could let her see Spencer and stay the night,” he explained.

“I think you had to be back at the studio tomorrow.” It’s not that she didn’t want to go, but Karen made her nervous still, after all this time. At least at his flat she could be herself without feeling like she was being watched.

“I do, but not until noon. Gives us plenty of time to be back here. Gray, are you still nervous about my mum,” he asked. The look on her face said it all, he knew he busted her. Liam bit his lip not wanting to laugh in front of her. Karen loved Gray, she always had. For some reason though Gray never saw it. She was so worried his mum was going to beat her with a candlestick every time she saw her.

“Shut it jailbait, don’t you laugh at me,” Gray warned from the adjoining kitchen. Liam got up, picking up little Spencer before walking towards her.

“Mummy, I want to see my grandmum, please let me go.” Liam mimicked behind Spencer’s little body in a high pitched voice.

“Not fair Liam, you can’t use her against me,” Gray shouted not letting him see her laugh. Spencer hung there in his arm, her feet kicking awkwardly around. She looked like she was about to cry. Gray grabbed her body and looked at Liam.

“Fine fine, we will go. Cheap shot Payne that was a cheap shot.”

They spent the next couple of hours getting ready and packing up everything they needed. Gray thankfully was still living out of her suitcase so it was easy to get her belongings together but it didn’t help with her nerves. She couldn’t figure out why Karen made her so nervous. Heck, she met an entire famous boy band quite easily without freaking out but one middle aged woman made her beyond insane. Gray tried not to think about it as they left quietly out the underground garage seeming to miss the press completely.

“How did no one see us,” she asked shocked as Liam drove down the road.

“London, sometimes we get noticed; otherwise we can walk around easily. Much easier than in the States,” he explained. She felt shocked, it was the first time they felt normal. The drive to Karen’s house felt like hours as she stared out the window. It had been a while since Gray could take in the scenery of it all. England was such a beautiful place to be.

“We are here,” he cheerfully yelled, snapping her out of her quick cat nap. Gray looked around to see that they were actually at Karen’s house. Liam jumped out of the car and grabbed Spencer in the backseat. He walked into the house fast leaving Gray standing in the cold alone.

“Oh no, I’m fine Liam, I can handle the suitcase, no problem.” She mumbled to herself as she grabbed it out of the trunk. Her hands shook as she mentally made a note to invest in some mittens. Gray walked into the house to see Liam and Karen gush over the little one in her carrier. It made her blood boil. Hours ago he forgot he even had a daughter, now he was acting like the Father of the nation. What a joke. Gray bit her lip, making herself stop thinking such mean things. She needed to put on a show for Karen no matter how she was thinking right then and there. Karen looked up and beamed at her.

“Oh Gray dear, she is darling.” Gray walked over to them, plastering a fake smile on her face. She could do this, one night with Karen would not kill her.

“She’s my girl,” Gray smiled down at her little one. Spencer’s little face smiled up at her, knowing it was her mommy. Karen dabbed her eyes and grabbed Spencer out of her seat. She handed her over to Liam and went rushing to get her camera.

“I need pictures, lots and lots of pictures,” she gushed,” Gray stand by him please.” Gray followed suit, wrapping her free arm around his waist and bending in.

“Okay now just Liam, you know what Liam how about in the living room? The light from the sun there is perfect.” Both of them walked into the living room leaving Gray in the dust. What in the hell? She huffed just standing there. You pop out one kind and everyone pretends you don’t exist. Gray rolled her eyes, unwilling to stand there any longer and headed upstairs with her suitcase. Luckily she still remembered where his room was. Gray rolled the suitcase in and headed upstairs. She peeked her head into the living room to see Liam and Karen both fussing over Spencer. To be honest, it made her blood boil. Hours ago he forgot he even had a daughter, now he seemed to only think about her. Typical man. She hustled upstairs willing to enjoy the quiet time she had. Maybe it would make her feel better.

----

“Gray, Gray baby.” Her eyes fluttered open to see Liam looking down at her. The room was dark and it took a moment for her to fully wake up. Last thing she remembered was texting Perrie about meeting up later in the week and now this.

“What, what’s a matter,” she asked. Her brain was racing right now trying to be awake. Liam sat down next to her on the bed.

“Hey, nothing is wrong just coming to bed and wanted to see you.” His face was glowing from the moonlight. Liam ran his fingertips down her face making her shiver.

“Jailbait I am not fooling around with you at your mother’s house,” Gray whispered. Liam chuckled before jumping over her body and crawled into the warm spot next to her in the bed. She took the moment to curl into his side letting her head rest just below his. Liam pulled her in closer, not letting an inch of her skin not touch his.

“Love, are we okay now,” he whispered to her.

“Not perfect, but getting there.” Gray smiled into his chest. They barely talked about anything earlier, other than some bitching and moaning until the fun started. It felt good though, more than good. The tension they had about their lives erased in that bed. Everything she fear washed away and brought on more happiness. They had a long way to go as a couple but for the first time in months the connecting was there bringing them together.

“Mum asked me about when the wedding would be,” he murmured into her hair.

“What did you tell her?” She was treading lightly at this point, curious of his answer.

“When we wanted it. She can be quite pushy but it’s our day not hers.” Gray looked up to see him smiling down at her. She turned in his arms letting them be face to face.

“I see you in a suit, definitely a suit.” Liam smirked at her.

“No tux? Isn’t that what grooms are supposed to wear?”

“Ew no. Tuxes are for old men in the eighties,” Gray spat back making a face. Liam laughed at her, pulling her in closer.

“Tuxes are out. What else do you want me to wear?” Her hand went up to her face.

“Your scruff. Definitely that stay.” Gray let her thumb graze over his prickly face, enjoying the facial hair he had been rocking. It was half preppy, half rock star; the perfect combination for her.

“Consider it done. What about you? Do I get a say in what you wear,” he joked with her.

“I will take your thought into consideration, but more than likely a no.” Gray didn’t want to tell him, but she had already been scoping out dresses on her own. There were three that she wanted to choose from, each different but elegant in their own way.

“Puffy dress with lots of sparkles?” Gray groaned, puff was a big negative.

“No, no way. I want to be able to pee by myself an move,” she commented back. Yes, those princess dresses were beautiful but they were not Gray. She liked simple and easy. Liam yawned above her and kissed her head.

“I’m sure whatever you wear will be breathtaking for me.” His voice trailed off as his eyes closed. Gray laid still knowing that he was falling fast asleep with her on top of him. She gently kissed his chest before cuddling in closer and closing her own eyes.

----

Sun, holy amounts of sun in her eyes.

She opened her eyes to be blinding by the rays coming through the blinds. What time was it? Gray rolled over to find Liam’s side of the bed, empty and completely cold. He must have been up for a while with Spencer. Gray jumped out of bed and checked her phone to see it was only 7:14am. Spencer usually slept for at least another 30 minutes. She padded down the quiet hall to see her child still sleeping in the makeshift crib. Weird, very weird. He probably was downstairs already, enjoying the quiet.

“Hello dear,” Karen greeted her warmly as she came down the hall. Gray smiled back at her. Sadly though, there was no Liam in sight.

“Morning. Have you seen Liam,” she asked.

“He actually had to run out for a while, got called in by management. He said he would be back by one though.” Gray’s heart fell just a bit, he wasn’t supposed to do anything with singing today. It was supposed to be a family day. Check out his hometown and see the sites, not hang out with her future mother in law all day.

“Does Spencer always sleep this late,” Karen questioned. Gray kept her guard up, this was not the time to hear parenting advice.

“Usually.” Gray plastered a fake smile and went to make coffee. It was the only thing she could think of that wouldn’t make her lose her marbles today.

----

She waited all day from him to come back, all day. One o’clock passed, followed by four, six and nine at night before Gray just finally stopped caring. Maybe she was wrong, maybe he wasn’t changing. They take a step forward together as a couple and Liam just does his own thing making them go two steps back. The more Gray stared at the clock, the more she wanted to kick him repeatedly where the sun didn’t shine. He could be so dense and such an ass.

“Karen I think I am going to head to bed,” Gray announced as she jumped off the couch. Not a part of her body was tired but she could only handle of sitting around others to make her go crazy. Spencer went to sleep at least thirty minutes ago which made the safety net between the two come down.

“Oh okay Gray, have a good sleep.” They made progress together, just the two of them in that house. Karen wasn’t the worst person in the world and actually had a good sense of humor. They spent the day doing nothing but laughing during TV and talking about her son.

Gray headed upstairs to head her phone ringing in Liam’s room. She hustled up there, not waiting to wait up Spencer in the next room.

“Hello?” It was him, of course.

“Love, I’m sorry.” The words came out so fast it made it sound like he was holding his breath. Gray sat down on the edge of the bed and sighed.

“What else is new Liam? I should be used to this by now.”

“I know Gray, I’m sorry. I planned on being home at four at the latest but we all were dragged to a cocktail party for someone in the company, I didn’t have a choice,” he explained. Gray took a quick minute to think. If he had to work on their actual music, it would be different but working the crowd at a random cocktail party didn’t cut it. That wasn’t work that was freedom.

“Wait, wait, stop talking. You went to a party Liam? Instead of being here? You left me with your mom alone, for the entire day! That’s so messed up Liam!” She tried to keep her voice down so Karen wouldn’t hear. Gray was embarrassed, beyond embarrassed at this point. He was making her look so stupid.

“It wasn’t like that Gray, we weren’t dancing and having a ball. One drink and worked on getting more ways to get our name out there. It’s work Gray.” Liam started to get equally frustrated with her too at this point. What didn’t she get? He had to work.

“Oh a drink too? That’s so amazing, you got to drink on the job. I’m so proud of you Liam, so proud for your career. And getting your name out there? Interesting since the only people who don’t know who One Direction is are bums and the elderly. You doing a headlining concert at retirement homes now?” Every word was licked with sarcasm as it came out of her mouth.

“Gray, I will speak to you later, right now is not the time for this,” Liam barked back. Oh no. He didn’t.

“When’s later Liam? In three days while I am stranded at your mom’s house? That work?” Gray started to pace the room in anger. How dare he throw attitude at her, which was her job to do to him.

“No, tomorrow when I get back to my moms,” he whispered back. The muffles over the phone told Gray he was still at this apparent party.

“My god Liam, you really don’t change do you? Tomorrow sounds great, I’m going to go sleep alone. Good bye Liam.” Gray quickly hung up on him before he had a shot to speak and shut off her phone. It was a teenager move but right now she didn’t want anything to do with him, otherwise more than likely she would regret whatever came out of her mouth.

----

Liam had come home that next morning back to Karen’s and the tension between them was beyond apparent. Neither of them spoke, only to Karen in which Gray ignored him completely. She didn’t want to be near him right now, but she also didn’t want to be stuck in Wolverhampton longer then she wanted too. They left that day, back to his flat in London only to have the tense relationship continue on. They spent the last three days barely talking or seeing each other. Liam woke up to see Spencer in the morning but left soon after to do his work things. Gray had a sneaky suspension that he just wanted to leave the house and not be around her. Such a cop out, he couldn’t come to her and speak he had to play the baby card. So instead, Gray spent the last days of her supposed to be holiday sitting in his flat watching TV, cleaning and spending more time with Spencer. Perrie came down one day to cheer her up but it didn’t work. Gray was ready to go back home, she only needed to talk to him first.

“Spencer, let’s get the mail.” She picked up the wiggling baby and headed out. The mailroom was located downstairs so it was a nice break for them, even though none of it ever belonged to her. They rode the elevator down and walked in. Gray opened the door, grabbing the articles and envelopes before heading back up. On the elevator ride, one caught her eye. J and Forest Reality. She flipped it over to see a handwritten note on the envelope.

L – let me know when you can sign the papers, and I’ll get you keys – Howard

What in the hell? Gray quickly opened the envelope and took a breath before taking the papers out. She hoped England didn’t have the same law about reading other’s mail like the States did. The elevator doors popped up and Gray headed down the hall. She balanced Spencer and the mail in one hand while other pulled up the sheets. A house. Liam bought a house. Her eyes scanned over the papers, he purchased a three level house with four bedrooms and two baths. It was beautiful, that was for sure but Gray couldn’t help the tears that came to her eyes. He bought one without her, that was supposed to be their project, finding the place to spend the rest of their lives together. Gray flew into the apartment and wiped the tears off her face in one swoop. This was it, he didn’t deserve her tears or her anymore.

“Well honey, it’s time to pack. Daddy is a douche bag and we are getting out of here,” she spoke in a baby talk to Spencer. Normally Gray would try to watch her language around her daughter but at this point, it was an all out sprint. Gray threw her clothes in the suitcase, not caring if they were folded or not and collected everything else around the house that was hers. It was time to go back to her reality, whether that meant Chicago or San Francisco it definitely wasn’t London.

----

Liam walked in the door a little past nine that night feeling beat. They spent all day working on the same exact song. His vocal cords throbbed and his head pounded. Right now all he wanted to do was drink some tea and head to bed, but as soon as he saw her suitcase sitting there in the living room he knew that wouldn’t happen. Gray came down the hallway, no surprised to see him at all. Everything of hers was ready and waiting at the door. Was she leaving now? Her flight wasn’t until noon tomorrow. Liam changed his schedule around tomorrow so he could actually see them before they left.

“What is this,” he asked, motioning the stack of bags.

“Me leaving Liam.” Gray simply said. She wouldn’t even look at him. Instead she stayed sitting at the breakfast bar going through things in her purse.

“What do you mean you are leaving? Your plane isn’t until tomorrow?” She sighed and looked up at him.

“I’m done Liam, I cannot do this anymore. I’m not your trophy wife, there is no way I can sit here for forever waiting for you to get home with the dinner on the table. It’s time for me to go,” she simply stated. Liam couldn’t figure out why she was so calm about this. Before she practically begged to see him, now she could care less.

“So you are just leaving like always? I don’t get this Gray, we were supposed to start planning our lives together.” Gray cut him off at that exact second.

“No Liam! NO! I tried to plan our lives together with you but you went behind my back! How dare you even try to play the pity card!”

“What are you talking about,” he asked. Gray quickly brushed past him and grabbed a pile of papers from the kitchen cabinet.

“What to explain this one to me since your brain can’t seem to remember.” She asked, shoving the papers into the middle of his chest. Liam looked down at the crumbled sheets and felt the blood drain from his face. She wasn’t supposed to find out this way. He found their dream house on a whim and knew he had to act fast before someone else bought it and planned on talking to her tonight.

“Wait, did you read my mail,” he asked.

“Fuck yes I read your mail, but that is not the point Liam. We were supposed to do this together. It was the one thing I wanted to help with. I wanted to pick out the house I was supposed to live in when I moved thousands of miles to be here with you! God, don’t you even get it, at all? This was supposed to a joint thing, NOT the Liam show.” She threw her hands up in the air in her own way to wave the white flag. He still didn’t get it, Gray could tell just by looking at him in the eyes.

“I’m sorry Gray but it was too good of a deal to wait on.” His voice stayed low and steady which only pissed her off more.

“Liam, you just completely fucking dense aren’t you. I am here, standing here telling you that I am leaving for good and all you can talk about is how good of a deal you got. You are unbelievable,” she huffed. Liam started to finally get angry.

“I apologize Gray, I just worked my butt off for ten hours straight and can’t quite think right now. Christ Gray, what do you want from me!” Gray moved closer to him, staring hard and cold into his face. Who cares if there was a good six inches between them.

“I want you to get a fuck about me and Spencer for once and not your damn job,” she shouted back.

“I do care about you! Why do you think I work so hard, it’s for you two so you can both have a life!” Gray laughed in a mean way and shook her head.

“We have a life Liam, you just aren’t in it anymore.” Liam’s fists balled at his side, that was a low bow.

“Gray, maybe you actually just don’t want me to be included, how about that? Then you cannot continue you on with your ‘Poor me, Poor Gray’ story and make people pity you. That’s all you want in life Gray, pity. Your mother, your family hell even the boys do it. It’s all about you, never anyone else. Good thing your dad left when he had a chance.” Gray’s hand moved before her brain could even think. She heard the sharp and loud slap come but didn’t actually see it until Liam’s was holding his face. Gray slapped him, she actually slapped him making both of them hurt. His face became bright red while her hand throbbed. She was beyond terrified inside but didn’t want to show it. No one had ever hit anyone like this before. Liam’s eyes went dark and stared hard at her. His hand ran across his cheek.

“I cannot believe you,” his voice came out stern but solid,” you have to be the worst mother in this world.” Gray took a step back from him and bit hard down on her cheek. She refused to cry right now, especially the way he was treating her. First he has to low blow her with her dad which was already a touchy subject, and then had to knock her parental skills. It killed her inside, he had never been like this in his life.

“We are over, done, finished. As far as I am concerned you will NEVER EVER see you daughter again you piss of trash! How dare you call me a bad mother when you ARE NEVER HERE! If I am a bad mother then you best look at yourself Liam, you are just a piece of shit,” Gray screamed at the top of her lungs. Trying to be calm was over, right now all she was seeing is rage.

“Well love, you best find a great lawyer because I plan to fight you for her. I don’t think you remember I’m one of the number one celebrities in London, I get anything I want.” The look on his face was scared her in the bone inside. It was like a switch inside of him turning on, making him some sort of evil Liam version. Her hands shook with a mixture of fear and anger. She needed to get out of his place as soon as possible. Gray slowly walked toward him.

“Well you know what California has Liam,” she took a breath before speaking again,” the number one record for DEAD. BEAT. DADS. You will fit in great.” She tried to walk past him to go grab Spencer and get out of there but Liam quickly grabbed her shoulders and pushed her against the wall. Her fear level had hit Defcon 5, Liam could see it in her eyes.

“What love, afraid I’m going to hit that smug little face of yours?” Gray’s eyes felt like they were going to fall out.

“You need to get the fuck off me and let me get my daughter,” she whispered slowly to him, hoping he would listen.

“ Or what Gray, you’ll hit me again,” he joked down at her. Gray needed out, she needed to run. She shook not knowing what was going to happen next. It was beyond scary.

“I’ll do whatever I need to do to get away from you forever.” Gray meant it too.

“Please, you’ll will be crawling back in days, just watch. Sick little puppy.” Liam backed up from the wall letting Gray have her personal space back.

“Go, get the fuck out of my house. I mean it, I never want to see you again.” He quickly walked down the hallway to where Spencer slept in her car seat. Gray wanted to follow him for the safety of her daughter but her body couldn’t move.

“Baby I love you but your mum is too mean. I’ll see you as soon as I can,” he cooed to the child. Just like that, his personality could change in an instant.

“Love you baby girl.” Liam gave her sleeping body one last kiss before handing her over to Gray.

“Now go, I’m serious. Get the fuck out of my house and never come back so help me God. Out, Gray, I’m so fucking serious. GET OUT!” The last scream finally made her body move. She quickly got her suitcase and bags while balancing Spencer in the other hand and hightailed it out of his apartment. The door shut forcefully behind her and seconds later Gray could hear the sound of glass breaking from inside. She booked it down the hall unable to control her emotions anymore. Her body shook, practically convulsing as she tried to reach the elevator. Gray made it to the end of the hallway before she fell to the ground in sobs. Her bags were scattered around her and luckily Spencer was still sleeping in her seat. Gray hugged her knees to her chest and sobbed, everything just came crashing down around her. Things weren’t supposed to happen like this. He wasn’t supposed to be mean and so heartless. They were supposed to love each other. Gray laid her head against her knees and cried her eyes out. It was done, over and there was no turning back.
