I wake to the sound of my alarm clock beeping.
"Just one more hour!" I yelled at the alarm clock like it was going to let me sleep more.
I turned off the alarm clock and got up. Even though I don't go to regular school, my dad still wants to start teaching me at the normal time. It's my sinior year, but I discided to be home schooled by my dad so I could be closer to my sister, Anna.
Anna has leukemia, it's a cancer that deals with her blood. Anna has had it since she was born. The doctors are shocked that she's made it to her seventh birthday. Anna is very weak, and the chemotherapy has taken its toll on her. Poor Anna has lost her hair and she can't go to school like her friends. It kills me to see Anna like this.
So, my dad and mom have decided to home school Anna and I.
"Abby! Get down here its time to start your classes!" My dad yelled from the kitchen.
I walked down the stairs from my room to the kitchen. The one thing I love about being home schooled, was the fact that I can wear sweat pants everyday, and I can be a total bum.
"HEY ANNA BANANA!" I yelled at my sister.
"HEY ABBY BEAR!" Anna yelled at me. I was the way we greeted each other every time we saw one another.
I sat down at the kitchen table and started doing my math work for the day. Soon I would be done with school and I can spend all of my time with Anna. Just one more week to go!
Just as I finished my work for the day, Anna did too
"Well Anna, what would you like to do today?" I asked.
"Can we go to the mall?" Anna asked quietly.
"Are you sure you feel up to it today?" I asked Anna quizzically.
"I'm feeling good, I haven't gotten out of the house in days, please Abby." Anna gave me those eyes that I can never say no to.
I looked at my parents and they nodded their heads in approval.
"Be careful girls!" They yelled in unison
We both nodded and headed back upstairs to get ready.
I straightened my long blond hair, and gave myself a little bit of makeup. I know I don't need any but I felt better with it on, I felt more confident. I wore a pink Hollister shirt that showed my petite body, I wore it with blue jeans and my favorite Sperry's.
I went in to Anna's room to see her crying.
I gasped. "Anna! Whats wrong?"
"I wish I had my hair back, I wish I could look as pretty as you do!" Anna whimpered.
"Anna you're beautiful, don't you ever say that. Ever. " I said.
I know Anna has been having a hard time about losing her hair, it was just last week when she decided to shave it off. She said she'd rather lose it voluntarily, than have to lose it by the chemo.
"Thank you Abby Bear." Anna said finally smiling.
"Then lets go! " I yelled .
Then we got into my car and we headed for the mall...
