When Dreams Meet Reality
A (Pleasant?) Surprise - Part One
- Abbey's POV -
It's been a couple weeks after the signing, and I'm still exhausted. I didn't sleep for three days waiting in that line! My mom has been acting weird since she got a phone call a week ago. I asked what it was about, and she said nothing.
"What are you wearing!?" My mom shrieks at me, staring at my baggy tee, sweatshirt and cargo shorts. Not to mention my hair is in a complete mess, and my make-up in probably smeared. It was a rough night of sleep, okay? Don't judge.
"Mama! It's summer, and it's Sunday! My lazy day, you should know!" I set my hands on my hips.
"But I told you we were having guests over today!"
"What? No you didn't!" I retort in shock.
"Oh.... Well, we're having people over."
"Okay. Two questions: When? And who?" I spaz, looking at the clock on the wall. 11:24.
"Um.... In six minutes they're supposed to be here. And it's a surprise!" My mom tells me.
My eyes practically pop out of my skull. "Six minutes!?! Are you crazy!? Why didn't you tell me this earlier!?"
I race up the stairs and into my bed room, slamming the door. I rush to my bathroom, and wash off my face. No make-up, less hassle. I go back into my room and throw open my closet. I don't know who's coming, so I guess I'll put on one of my summer dresses. I take a light blue dress and put it on. It cuts off right above the knees, showing my long, tan legs. I pull my dark brown hair into a loose braid that hangs on my right shoulder. I look in the mirror once more, and at least put some eye shadow and mascara on, and at last second, I apply some lip gloss. But, I almost forget to slip on my black fishnet gloves. I will never let anyone see my forearms.
I didn't hear anyone being greeted, so the guests must not be here yet. I walk down the stairs and into the living room.
Boy, was I wrong.
