When Dreams Meet Reality
A Run-In
- Abbey's POV -
I tap my foot and look at my watch. I have always been a really impatient person, so standing in this long line at the grocery store wasn't my favorite place in the world. The line moves forward slightly, I sigh and push the heavy cart a couple inches. I pull out my phone, ignoring the texts from Miles, I answer my mom's call.
"Hello, mother." I say in a bored tone. I put the phone between my ear ans shoulder, holding it there. I pick at my nail polish. "What's up?"
"Nothing, I was just wondering where you were."
"Mom, you were the one that sent me to the store."
"Oh, yeah, right. Are you at the one on second street?"
"Nah, mom. I'm in the center of the earth." I reply sarcastically.
"Now, you don't smart mouth me, young lady." She scolds me, though I can hear the smile in her voice. I roll my eyes, and scoot the cart forward. "Okay, be home in the next twenty minutes?"
"Yeah." I tell her. I hang up and finally start putting my items on the belt. In less than ten minutes, I'm out of the store and loading up my car.
Once I get home, I put the groceries away. I tell my mom I'm going for a walk in the park across the street. She gives me a weird look, then shrugs her shoulders.
I wander for about fifteen minutes until I find a bench. I sit and think about the past week. I've been abused again, and Niall called me his princess. I bury my face in my hands. I don't know why I can't handle this, but I just can't.
"Well, the chances of meeting you out here." A thick British accent tells me, and a smile creeps onto my face.... The only voice recognized as Liam Payne of One Direction. He slides onto the other half of the bench.
"Hey." I say, nudging him with my shoulder. He automatically smiles.
"Why are you out here all alone?" He asks, being the serious boy he's known for.
"I just wanted to think." I reply truthfully.
"So.... How are you dealing?" Liam stares into my eyes, begging for an answer.
"Everything has seemed... off. And Niall-" I sigh. "Oh, Niall. I don't know what to do. I really like him, but don't want to ruin our friendship. Liam help me!" I lean my head on his shoulder, exasperated.
"I think you should tell him how you feel, then you two can work this out."
"Liam, you are an amazing person to come to when you need advice."
He chuckles softly, "I know, I've been told."
