Chapter Fourteen
Liam’s POV
I tapped my fingers to the music coming through the headphones of my iPod as I looked down at my buzzing mobile.
Mels: Nah. People aren’t in my way as much, so the crutches have helped some. Do I really have to get those damned pills?
The corner of my lip pulled up into a slight smirk as I replied.
Liam: You’ve been out of the hospital for two weeks and still haven’t picked them up. Yes, you have to get them. Sorry, love.
Mels: I hate this. I shouldn’t have to.
I sighed and picked my pencil back up before scribbling down some notes in my notebook.
Melody had been tested for depression, and unfortunately she tested positive and was supposed to pick up her medicine two weeks ago.
Melody: I’m not going to pick them up. I don’t need them.
I rolled my eyes and grabbed my car keys. If she was going to be so damn stubborn, I’d just pick them up for her. As soon as I got to my car, I stopped. It probably wouldn’t be safe for me to go out and pick up medicine. I sighed and pulled my phone out of my pocket and called Paul.
“Hey, Liam. What’s up?”
“I need you to run to the pharmacy with me. Mels is refusing to pick up her medicine.”
Paul chuckled and I heard keys jingling in the background. “Alright, I’ll be there in ten minutes.” I sat out by my car after hitting the ‘end’ button while I waited on Paul.

“Here.” I said as I smiled and handed Melody the small bag with her medication inside.
“Liam I told you I’m not taking them.” She huffed and pushed the bag to the side and focused back on her History text book.
“And the doctor told you that you have to.” I argued back and took the bottle out of the bag. “It’s just three pills a day with food. It’s like taking any other medicine.”
“Except this isn’t any other medicine, Liam.” Melody continued to read her text book, not looking at me.
“Melody, please.”
“Look, I feel fine. Completely normal; I don’t need them.”
“Just because you feel fine now doesn’t mean that you will tomorrow or the next day. Please, I need you to do this for yourself.”
“I’ve felt fine since the doctor told me I was ‘depressed’. This is just another way to get money out of his patients.” Melody rolled her eyes as she shut her text book and pulled out another one.
“Don’t make me force these pills down your throat, Melody.”
“Do it. I dare you.” Just then Quin walked into the apartment.
“Whatever she’s daring you to do, don’t do it. If you value your life; you won’t do it.” The worry in Quin’s voice was thick and I sighed, giving up for the day.
“She’s not going to take her medicine.” I said after following Quin into the kitchen to help her put away the groceries she had just come home with.
“She stopped taking those a few days ago, remember? She doesn’t need the pain medicine anymore.” Quin shrugged and handed me two gallons of milk.
“Didn’t she tell you she has to go on antidepressants?” Quin’s jaw dropped as soon as the words left my mouth. I took that as a ‘no’.
“Melody Belle Scott!” I jumped as Quin screamed her best friend’s name. “Get your ass in here!” Melody appeared at the kitchen counter and halfway hid behind the wall. “What the fuck is this about antidepressants? And why the hell are you not going to take them?”
“I don’t need them.” Melody groaned as she tried to walk away.
“Oh hell no. Liam, finish putting away the groceries. You know where everything goes.” Quin waved me off as she followed Melody into the other room. I looked at the grocery bags and sighed as I reluctantly put the groceries where they belonged in the cabinets. I definitely spent too much time here.
A few minutes later Melody stomped into the kitchen and grabbed one of the blue pills from the bottle. I raised my eyebrow as she yanked open a cabinet and grabbed a cup. After filling it with water she popped the pill in her mouth and downed the glass of water before slamming the plastic cup in the sink and walking off to her bedroom, slamming the door behind her.
“So it went well, I take it?” I asked as Quin walked back into the kitchen.
“Oh yeah.” I laughed at the sarcasm in her voice and grabbed my keys.
“I should get going. Need to be in the studio soon.”
“Yeah, yeah. Go be famous and shit.” Quin waved me off as I walked out the door.
Melody’s POV
This was stupid. I didn’t need these damned pills. I was perfectly fine! I didn’t feel depressed. When I heard the front door shut, I assumed Liam left and instantly felt sad that he left without saying goodbye. I rolled over onto my side and grabbed my phone off the bedside table before deciding against texting him and turning off the lamp to fall asleep.
It was safe to say that my medicine didn’t want me to get any sleep. I kept tossing and turning for an hour before giving up and grabbing my phone off my bedside table and checking my messages.
Liam: I know you don’t want to take your medicine, but I worry about you and love you, so I don’t want you to end up hurting yourself. Please take your medicine when you’re supposed to. I love you so much. X
I sighed and put my phone away. This was going to be such a struggle.

Liam’s POV
The next few days were easier with trying to get Melody to take her medicine. It went from having to practically shove them down her throat, to simply arguing with her for ten minutes before she finally gave in. “Hey Mels?”
“I already took them. You saw me. I swear to God if you make me take another one I will murder you in your sleep.” She instantly answered and pulled her knees up to her chest as she flipped through the channels on the tele.
“No, I was gonna ask if you wanted to go see a movie tomorrow.” I chuckled as she shrugged.
“If you want to we can.” She smiled at me and cut off the TV.
“No, I was asking if you want to go.” Melody shrugged again and I sighed. “Do you want to go or not?” I asked not wanting to force her decision.
“Whatever you want to do is fine with me.” She responded.
I looked at her with an annoyed expression. “Babe, do you want to see a movie tomorrow?” I asked patiently. “Or would you like to do something else?”
Melody looked down, “I kind of want to see the Marvel movie.” She admitted while playing with her hair.
“Well then that’s what we’ll see.” I agreed.
She looked up slightly. “Really?” I nodded. “Wow,” she mused.
My eyebrows drew together, “What?” I asked not understanding her reaction.
“I never got to say what I wanted to do with Mitch.” Melody informed me.
“Are you serious?” I asked finding it hard to believe.
She nodded, “Yeah. We always hung with his friends, watched his movies, and whatever else he wanted.”
“That’s bullshit!”
“It’s okay. I got used to it.” Melody shrugged.
My head shook angrily, “It is not okay. I would never treat you half as bad as that asshole did.” My hand went to her chin as I gently turned her face so that we were looking at each other. “I love you and I can’t promise that’ll be the perfect boyfriend, but for you I swear I’ll try.” She looked at me. Her green eyes peered into mine. “So beautiful,” I mumbled as our faces drew closer. It seemed to take forever for our lips to touch. The kiss was slow, gentle, but growing hungry with every passing second. My hand moved from her face to her waist as her arms snaked around my neck. Our bodies moved closer to each other. We were sitting side by side on the sofa with our torsos turned towards each other, but it was quickly becoming uncomfortable as I shifted bringing my knees onto the couch while Melody pressed into my chest. Continuing to kiss my gorgeous girlfriend, I slowly pressed forward lowering us onto sofa so that she lay on her back and I hovered over her. We pulled apart for a quick breath. Melody’s hands tugged on the hem of my shirt. “What are you doing?” I chuckled running my hands up and down her sides.
“Take it off.” She urged lifting it slightly revealing my bare abs. I pulled away from her lifting my shirt and tossing it onto the floor. Her hands ran down my chest causing me to shiver. Cautiously I slid my hands underneath her shirt relishing at the feel of her soft skin. My lips moved from her mouth to her neck as my hands crept further and further up.

Melody’s P.O.V
Liam’s hot hands smoothly travelled up my stomach reaching the bottom of my breast where they stopped. His lips moved on my neck as my hands rubbed over his chest. He gripped the bottom of my shirt bunching it in his hands.
“Can I?” He asked pulling back to look at me. I nodded lifting up slightly so that my shirt could be removed. It was tossed on the floor alongside his. Liam’s eyes raked over my bare stomach and bra clad breast. My arms folded over them self-consciously, but he tugged them away. “Melody, you’re so beautiful.” He complimented me while leaning in for a kiss. I laid back on the sofa losing myself in the make-out session. This was so much different than it had ever been with Mitch. Liam showed much more reservation. His hands explored my body hesitantly. He asked before initiating the removal of any of my clothes. Even when we both left in nothing but our underwear he was still cautious.
“Mel I-”
“Shh… No talking.” I kissed him once moving my lips to his neck feeling his muscle tense. His hands slid from my breast down my sides to my hips. His fingers danced across the top of my panties so hesitantly. I nearly let out a groan of frustration as he seemed to strategically think of a way to start what we both knew was coming. My urgency must have become clear because as I started to speak his dancing fingers slipped inside of my panties moving to their desired location. I let out a soft moan which he silenced with a kiss. Floor play was all Liam tried for and even then he made sure it was what I wanted. He was caring and adamantly refused when I offered to return the favor. I ignored him, of course, pressing against him while kissing his lips until he was lying on the sofa and I was in the dominate position. My lips skimmed down his chiseled abs as he lay nearly rigid. He was caught between giving in and trying to be a gentleman.
“You don’t have to do this.” He managed to say as my fingers hooked on the waistband of his briefs.
I looked up at him through my lashes with a devious smile. “I want to.” I assured not giving him a chance to speak. Liam sucked in a sharp breath laying back and I prayed that Quin didn’t walk in anytime soon.
Quin’s POV
I walked into the apartment after my math class and groaned as I tossed my backpack onto the floor. “Hey guys.” I said as I looked over to the living room. “Did… did you guys get Thai food? It smells funny in here.”
“You’re smelling things.” Melody shrugged. I looked over at them and made my way into the living room where they were sitting on opposite ends of the couch, watching a movie.
I went to sit between them, but Melody stopped me.
“You don’t want to sit there.”
“Why not?” I asked, raising an eyebrow at a red faced Liam.
“I spilt a drink earlier and haven’t cleaned it up just yet.” She shrugged as I took a seat on the recliner.
“Okay, really, you two don’t smell that?” Melody shook her head and Liam stood up and announced he had to go. Something about the studio. He quickly shuffled out of the apartment and I looked over at Melody.
“What’s his problem?”
“Oh, we fooled around.” Melody shrugged. “By the way… we might want to get a new couch.”
“Oh my God! That couch was expensive! And… oh my god!” I shook the thoughts of my best friend and Liam doing… things on the couch. “Well… how was it?” A huge smile spread across her face as she bit her bottom lip.
“A lady doesn’t kiss and tell.”
“Nu-uh! You have to tell me! I told you about me and—“
“Okay!” She laughed and leaned over to tell me all the juicy details.
