It Takes Patience

Chapter 3: Preparations part 2

*Reagan's POV*
It was the day of my departure and I lay in bed staring at the ceiling again, awake before my alarm sounded for me to get up. I looked over at my alarm clock and saw that it read 11:00 p.m. My stomach was in knots, I don’t think had gotten any sleep earlier in the day. I swung my legs out of bed and slapped the clock to stop the buzzing, it had suddenly hit me then, I hadn’t gotten any sleep. I walked into my bathroom taking down my sloppy ponytail that I wore to bed. As my auburn hair fell in waves to the middle of my back, I saw the dark circles under my eyes in the mirror. Despite the fact that I looked like the walking dead at this moment I couldn’t help it as a smile crept on my delicate features. Today was the day that I left for my internship. I took off my Victoria secret sleeper shirt and boy shorts and took a 15 minute shower so I could be fresh and ready for my 3 a.m. flight.

When I got out the shower I threw on my comfy clothes that I had set aside for the flight that consisted of leggings, a Rolling Stones t-shirt, my Gilly Hicks hoodie, and my white converse and headed downstairs to find my luggage had already been packed away in the car by my dad. I was shocked to say the least that my dad took the time out of his busy schedule of meetings and case files and everything else that came with being the head of a law firm, to drive me to the airport.

“You ready pumpkin?” He asked me making my cheeks turn a hint of pink.

“As ready as I’m gonna be dad.” I walked over to my mom who had made me pop tarts to eat on the way to the airport and gave her a long hug and a kiss on the cheek.

“I love you Reagan.” Tears began to pool in her eyes. I hate it when my mom cries, it always makes an ache appear in my chest.

“I love you too mom,” I replied “please don’t cry I’ll see you in three months. It's not that bad really.” She grinned whipped her eyes and planted a kiss on my forehead.

“You be sure to call me as soon as you land.” she replied and I nodded waving to her before I left.

When I had arrived at LAX airport I had gone through another lengthy see you later with my father and gathered my things to board the plane. When we were in the air I looked through the pictures from the week before of ‘celebrations’ with Channel as my eyes began to flutter closed for the duration of the ten hour flight. I would finally get some rest.

Is it getting better or worse?
