Chapter 22
(Manisha’s P.O.V)
He kissed me back and it is a kiss I am sure I will never forget in my life. As he kissed me, he pretended to be playing the piano on my bum and it felt amazing. But he pulled back sooner than I thought he would.
“Not like this”, he said and I nodded.
“Then?” I asked
“I wanna take you out on a proper date. I have wanted to take you out for a long time now, ever since I met you to be honest. So would you.. Would you like to go out with me?” he asked looking at the wall behind me.
“Yes I would definitely like to go out with you.”
Even as I said it, I wasn’t so sure. Zayn was on my mind, but what will happen between me and him? He already admitted to not wanting me as anything more than a friend. Also he will have to go back to the UK sooner rather than later and I will be going back to Bangalore, where Jack will be there for me. Jack, I can’t do this to him! I can’t lead him on when I clearly have somebody else on my mind.
“But I think we need to talk first” I tell jack and he pulls me to the couch.
“Okay so this is a huge secret, nobody can know it okay?” I say looking at him and he nods.
“So do you know one direction?” I ask him
“I have heard about them but I don’t really know them too much”, from his expression I can see him trying to figure out how it could possibly have anything to do with us.
“Okay so there are five boys in the band, Harry, Liam, Louis, Niall and Zayn. 3 of them, Liam, Louis and Zayn were in a relationship… but umm Zayn had to breakup with his girlfriend because he found out that she was cheating on him with Harry.”
“If this speech is to tell me to not cheat on you...” he begins but I cut him off
“Let me finish! So umm yah Zayn really loved her and was actually about to propose to her so obviously he couldn’t stand it and decided to run away from the whole situation. And umm I ran into him at the Delhi Airport because he misjudged and thought India would be the last place he would run into fans. So he was so shocked when he realized I actually knew him and didn’t faint or start shouting in his face and draw attention to him. We talked a little and one thing lead to another and he came to Nepal with me.”
“That is quite a story”, jack said
“Yeah and I’m not even done yet.” I say and he raised his eyebrow.
“Okay… continue” he said
“So since he didn’t know anybody here and well needed to make sure he wasn’t spotted and stuff my mom agreed that he should stay with us, and well that’s where he is now. At my place. A few days ago, we were swimming and well there was a moment where we almost kissed but my sister kind of ruined the moment for us and we didn’t. ever since then I thought there was something between us but he made it so clear to me last night that he just looks at me as a friend and nothing more. I guess what im trying to tell you here is that I might like him more than I should, at least more than an obsessive fan anyways and I think it will be unfair for you if I agree to go on a date with you but have my heart set on somebody else. I like you but I don’t think it’s fair for you.” I finish covering my face with my hand.
“Hey,” he said prying my hands away from my face, “what is life without a little challenge? A girl as beautiful and charming as you, there was bound to be some competition but I think im a strong contender don’t you?”
I smile weakly at him
“You most definitely are, I just had to let you know because well it wouldn’t have been fair on you if I hadn’t.”
“I admire your honesty. And I’m glad you told me. If you need space you can have it, and get over him on your own, but if u need me I’m here for you and we can get over him together” he said and began to win me over.
“Thank you” I whispered and leaned in to kiss him on his cheeks.
“Anytime now let’s get you home before this popstar starts to worry” he said and I giggle.
“He won’t. I bet he is too busy with my bestfriend.” I say icily
“whoa you have been withholding vital information.” He says laughing
“It’s nothing, guess I was just a little jealous. But going home sounds good. I am exhausted for some reason.”
“are you sure it’s not cuz u wanna run away from me?” jack asked playfully.
“Most definitely not. In fact since I’m drunk and you need to pick me up on that date I’d very much like you to drive me home.” I say and he smiles.
