Love and Lies

Chapter 2:

After Layla dropped me off at home, I had a lot going through my mind. Alexander, specifically. He is the last person I ever want to think about. We had been dating for two, amazing years. We hardly ever fought, we had so much in common, and we had our lives planned out. The plan was to go to Niagara University and get an apartment together. He was going to go for Business and I wanted to be an art teacher. But everything came crashing down on May 23. It was the day of his mother’s wedding to her boyfriend of 6 years, Thomas. My family and Alexander’s family are rather close. Our moms are best friends, as they had grown up together. Alexander’s dad is gone; he left when Alexander was only a year old. During that time, my parents helped raise Alexander. Layla’s family is also close with mine and his. When you live in Woodbury, everything is a country club event; specifically weddings.
*le flashback* Layla and I were getting ready in Alexander’s room while he was with the other groomsmen. The theme of the wedding was florals. All of the groomsmen’s ties matched the color of their dates dress. Our color was purple.
“Knock knock, babe. Are you decent?” Alexander yelled through the bedroom door.
“Yes” I yelled back as he walked through the door. “Wow babe. You clean up nice. Who knew?” (http://www.polyvore.com/alexanders_outfit_for_wedding/set?id=92181582)
“I know right!” He said in a girly voice, making me giggle as he kissed my forehead. “And you look absolutely stunning”. (http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=92871682)
“Oh stop it! But thank you” I said blushing.
“If you two lovebirds are done, we would like to make our grand entrance!” Layla yelled through the door.
“Of course, I apologize my fair lady” I said mockingly as her and Damien walked in. (http://www.polyvore.com/laylas_outfit_for_wedding/set?id=92874653) (http://www.polyvore.com/damiens_outfit_for_wedding/set?id=92875875).
“You look beautiful Lay,” I told her, using her old nickname. Her and Damien’s color was this pinkish purple. “You look good too, Dam.”
“Thanks, sis. You look pretty too,” he complimented me.
“Alright enough. I’ve heard enough gushing over each other’s outfits to last me a year,” Alexander said jokingly. “Damien, man, have you seen….” Their voices fading away as they left the room.
“Seriously, Lay. You guys look so good together.” Layla had admitted to me a couple weeks ago that she has had a crush on my brother for at least 2 years.
“I just,” she said sighing. “He thinks of me as a little, annoying sister. That won’t change.”
“No he doesn’t. Honestly I think he likes you more than me.”
“Shut up Els,” Layla said chuckling, “you and your brother get along so well.” That was true. Damien and I had always gotten along really well. He was two years older than me and was always the super protective older brother. He never really had to defend me because I didn’t have problems with other kids growing up. That night, though, I saw another side of him.
