Falling For The Stranger
Chapter 14- Back down to two
*Niall's point of view
Renee lets go of Liam and he is in my arms. I want to drop him and run. But he is my son and there must be hope somewhere. I look at the face of my still son. His chest no longer moves and he is limp. I set him back down in the crib. I take my phone from my pocket and call the hospital. I exit the room and try to go find Renee. I find her on a ledge for holiday décor 25 feet about the air. I don't bother asking how she got 25 feet in the air in so little time, because I know she will always find a way to do the impossible. I get a ladder out of the garage and climb up with Renee. The ladder falls as I reach the last step. I quickly jump to where Renee is. "Is he-?" Renee ask with tears running from her eyes. I nod my head. She lays her head down on my lap. "The hospital will be here in a few minutes to come and get him." I say to her in the most gentle voice possible. I can feel the tears now dripping down my face.
*Renee's point of view
My face is in Niall's lap as I cry. Why did this dream have to come true. Out of all the ones that I've had, this one! My worst nightmare has happened. I feel tears dripping down onto my head. I sit up without Niall noticing. I look at his face and see his eyes are closed. I wipe the tears from his eyes and give him a soft kiss on the lips. I look down and see that the ladder has fallen. "Niall, how will we get down?" Niall looks up to me and replies, "The hospital can get it." A knock on the door sounds and Niall of course yells loudly, "Come in!!!" Paramedics and a fire fighter come through the door with a stretcher. The fireman puts the ladder up. The fire man looks familiar. He also has tears rushing down my face. When Niall and I get out, I hear Niall shout out. "Liam!?!" I look at the fireman and see it's no other than Liam Payne. I look at Niall. I let him do all the talking and let the tears keep running down my face. "What are you doing here Liam?" Niall ask. "I always wanted to be a fireman, so I asked to volunteer for the day. When I heard the address the emergency, I offered to take it." Liam says. The paramedics come out with Liam Horan on the stretcher. "I'm sorry." One says putting the other half of the sheet over Liam Horan's body. I turn to Niall and hug him tight. The tears hurt more and come out faster. "I'm sorry Niall. I need to go though. I'll talk to you tomorrow." Liam says as he leaves the door.
So this is it, back down to a family of two. Just Niall and I are left. Niall takes my hand and I follow where he takes me. He leads me outside to the tree. We sit under it. This makes me cry more, I guess I forgot to tell them about the tree I sat under in my dream. Niall wraps both arms around me. "Everything will be ok."
