33- Life Isn’t Always that Perfect Fairy Tale
I lean back up and stare at the bright light above me. Why did life have to be so fucking difficult all the time? Why couldn’t it just be slightly easier for me? My parents died when I was young, Rose and I ran away from the police before they could find us. We didn’t want anything to do with court and new family and such. We made it, I mean we stayed away from the house for a year before returning. I guess life was always going to be this hard on me. I break away from my flashback to see Rose’s head blocking my view from the ceiling. “I know you’re upset about the Demi and Niall thing, but move past it. She apologized and I don’t think she’ll be touching your man anytime soon. I smile at her reassuring voice and nod, knowing she was never wrong. I sat up and grabbed the remote again, turning the TV back on. I changed the channel to Spongebob and became hypnotized. After half an hour of Spongebob, I turn off the TV and walk into the kitchen. I open the fridge grabbing a soda and sit down at the table. “Click!” the can sounds. I pull my phone out from my pocket to see Niall already called me five times. I quickly dial in his number and the phone rings once, twice, three times. Each ring brings my hopes of him answering lower and lower. I finally sigh, realizing he won’t answer and put my phone away. I know it was pretty impossible, but I couldn’t get the thought out of my head that maybe Niall was with Demi. I shake my head, erasing the memory, and stand up walking back into my bedroom. I plop down on the bed and lean back, letting myself fall into the cushiony mattress. I let my hair loose and curl up into a ball, slowly falling asleep, feeling a mix of emotions.
I wake up again, the sun not cracking through the curtains. I stand up curious about what time it was and pass the table, picking up my phone. I open it up to see it was only midnight. I had only been asleep for three hours. I placed my phone back down on the table and fell back onto the bed, trying to fall asleep again. It was no use, I couldn’t. I just sat there, thinking, about the possible things Niall could be doing right now.
1.Hanging out with the boys.
2.Sleeping or eating
3.Out partying
4.At a café drinking his favorite coffee.
5.With Demi, slowly falling in love with her.

The last one broke my heart a little. What if it was true? He could be going behind my back falling in love with her right now. I stand up and pace the room, trying to get the thought out of my head. This was a negative thought, and I needed to think positive. After five minutes of pacing back and forth hopelessly trying to erase the thought, I pick up my phone again and try calling Niall. He answers on the forth ring, finally letting me be able to release my breath.

“Hey babe! I tried calling you but you weren’t answering. Is everything alright? It must be about midnight there!” Niall rushes.

Just straight out say it Rai, you can do it, you can do it, and you can d-

“Are you with Demi? And don’t lie.” I say forcefully into the phone.

“What? No, I’m with the boys, we’re um at an um golf club.” He says, with a hint of shock in his voice. What did I just do? I look at the phone and see he is still there, waiting for an answer. I panic and hang up, dropping the phone on the floor. I kick it under the table, not wanting to even look at it. I needed to get a new phone, this one was mocking me. I take a deep breath, knowing I just made a huge mistake. I throw myself on the bed, finally forcing myself to fall asleep. I wasn’t in any way, in the mood to be awake. I had a dream, like the ones I was having before. This one was different though. It wasn’t bad this time, it was good.
I feel the plane make a soft thud on the ground. The worker lady comes back to us, telling us the plane has landed. I grab my bags quickly and run off the plane, running towards the airport as fast as I possibly can. I reach the doors and open them, letting them hit the wall hard behind me. I see the boys waiting there and I freely run into Niall’s arms, just letting myself go. One whole year, I had to survive one whole year, but I made it, and I was with Niall and the boys and Lucy again. I look over to see Niall holding Lucy’s hand. “She learned how to walk while you were gone.” Niall chuckles. I smile and pick Lucy up, spinning her around, proud of her achievement. I place her back down only after a minute. “She’s gotten so heavy!” I exclaim. Niall nods, smiling as I grab Lucy’s nose and give it a little pinch. She giggles and screams “Mommy!” I look up, my mouth hanging wide open and just stare at Niall. I feel a tear run down my cheek. “I missed all of this….”

I wake up and look around at the room. A little bit of light shone through the room, but that was about it. I grab my phone from under the table, remembering what had happened and dial Niall’s number immediately. He picks up on the first ring. “Hello?” He says into the phone. “Niall, have I missed anything Lucy has done? First steps, word, anything?” He thinks for a minute before replying “Nope. What was about last night though?” I lie and say “My phone died. Sorry about that. I was just tired and I was wondering if you were hanging out with Demi since you guys are good friends and stuff.” I take a breath, making sure to hold the phone away from me so he doesn’t hear it. “Oh. Well I have to go. I love you Rai! I miss you so fucking much!” I smile and say bye, before hanging up. I felt a pain in my chest, like my heart just broke into millions of pieces. And they were splintering everywhere. And it hurt like hell.
