Summer Nights
Chapter Thirty-Two
*Holly's P.O.V*
"Wake up, Holls," someone softly hummed. My refreshed eyes slowly fluttered open to see Niall sitting criss-crossed in front of me. He smiled at me, and I lazily returned it.
"Morning," I yawned, moving aside the blanket he'd apparently covered me with sometime during the night, and crawled off the bed. I noticed Niall was already freshly-washed, and he'd changed into different clothes.
"Where'd you get those?" I asked, pulling an outfit off the hangers in my closet.
"I woke up early and drove back to my house for a while," he answered, transitioning to my desk. "But I made sure you were safe before I left."
Awwww, how sweet, I sincerely thought, stepping into my bathroom. After I quickly changed into my usual pair of jeans and a white top overlaid with a light-brown jacket, I brushed my hair and put in my contacts.
When I emerged, Niall was analyzing my desktop. As I slid on some sandals, I saw he was studying the plumeria he'd given me at our dance lesson. I'd preserved it, wanting to keep it as a memory token.
"I can't believe you still have it," he said, almost to himself.
"Why wouldn't I?" I smiled at him, slinging one strap of my bag over my shoulder. Beckoning him to follow me, I swung open my door, careful not to wake anyone. I led him down the staircase and to the kitchen.
Niall scurried ahead of me, and reached for something in my fridge.
"For you, m'lady," he jokingly said, presenting me with a fruit parfait. Quirking an eyebrow in a playful manner, I took the offered container with a grin.
"Don't tell me you made this," I teased, retrieving a spoon from a drawer. He shook his head, grabbing a second parfait and getting another utensil.
"Nah, Harry's the chef. But did you know McDonalds's is open at five-thirty in the morning?" He asked, plunging his spoon into his cup.
"Of course. I don't cook breakfast every morning– my family has to eat something edible every once in a while, right?" I joked, swallowing a spoonful of my breakfast. He laughed, sitting on one of the stools. I sat down next to him, tucking my left leg under my body so my right leg dangled off the side. We ate our meals in a content silence, quickly downing the entire serving.
"Well, guess we'd better get going," I remarked, glancing over at the clock. Nodding in agreement, he swiped my empty cup and jumped off the stool. Throwing away our trash, he threw our spoons in the dishwasher as I hopped off, grabbing my bag.
I questionably cocked my head at his visible car in my driveway, and he chuckled.
"I'll use my car to drive to school," he assured me.
"Alright," I responded, placing my bag in the passenger seat, I opened my door, waving at Niall as he entered his own vehicle. He winked, making me giggle before sliding in. Inserting the key, my Corvette flared to life. With a rumble of the engine, I was off. I heard Niall laughing behind me, still in my driveway. Next to me on the armrest, my phone buzzed, lighting up with a text message.

From Niall:
Race you to school! X

Unsure about what he meant by the "x", I grinned, tapping out a reply with one finger.

To Niall:
You're on, Horan!

With that, I pressed my foot harder on the acceleration, leaving Niall in my wake.
