Summer Nights

Chapter Fifteen

*Niall's P.O.V*
It was about ten minutes into the movie when I heard the girliest scream ever. My head instantly snapped down to Holly, but she was just looking around the room, wondering who the culprit was. Everyone started laughing, and Zayn chucked a pillow at the guilty one, who strongly expressed his disapproval.
"Really Lou? For once, it's the boy that gets scared," Zayn rolled his eyes in amusement. I heard Holly giggle and I smiled.
"Yeah, you're all. . . girly and stuff. . ." Harry slowly stated. I'm pretty sure we all face palmed ourselves. Leave it up to Harry to totally kill the mood with one of his observations that anybody could see.
"Do not mock me, peasants!" Louis boomed, indignantly standing up, crossing his arms over his chest. Holly stood up, her eyebrows raised in a playful manner.
"Ok, Mr. Sass Master." She then let out a scream identical to Louis'. His eyes widened and he started snapping his fingers.
"Oh heck no! You did not just imitate the king!" He exclaimed.
"What's gonna stop me?" She cheekily asked. The rest of us were watching them, our eyes shooting from one person to another like we were spectating a ping-pong match. I started stuffing the popcorn in my face, waiting for Louis' reaction.
"Two words. Nerf-gun. War," he answered, staring down right into her brown eyes.
"Pretty sure that's three words. Nerf-gun is a hyphenated compound word," she corrected him, a sassy grin on her face. I burst out laughing at her calm demeanor.
"That's the thing with smart people. You just can't win," he mumbled to himself.
"Liam! Harry! We're going to be winners tonight!" Louis shouted, running upstairs. I groaned, darting up the other way. He knows where I stash all my weapons.

Luckily, I reached my room before he did and I grabbed all the nerf-guns, and snatched the water guns just in case.
"Not fair!" Louis shouted upon noticing I'd gotten all the battle necessities. I laughed, dashing back to the living room. I tossed a Volcan to Holly and threw a Maverick to Zayn, keeping the Long Shot. The three of us had one water gun and a different Nerf gun each, plus ammunition. Since we had some extras, I decided to try my luck and give Holly a Strikefire as an addition. I hope she has good aim. . .
"Liam!" I yelled. He cautiously entered, holding his hands up. I laughed and gave him the water guns and a Switch Shot. He grinned and shouted his thanks as he ran back upstairs to Louis' base. In five minutes, we'd made a hideout in the game room. Holly had her Strikefire trained on the doorway, her finger never leaving the trigger. Honestly, it scared me. Zayn aimed his Maverick at the same target as her, and I awkwardly kept my Long Shot in my hands, my fingers fumbling around for a resting place. For a couple of minutes, it was silent except for the occasional loud command issued from Louis.
We finally heard the words, "Get ready for attack, troops!" Holly shifted, the gun in her hands focused on the open doorway while us boys looked like rookies compared to her. Harry was the first to come in, his water blaster uncertainly held in front him as he scoped the area.
"All clear!" He informed them just as Holly released the trigger, landing a shot on him. Liam ran in, oblivious to the sudden attack. Zayn hit him, and Louis burst in. I tried my best and managed to get him with my Long Shot. Harry blindly shot around, as there was water spraying everywhere, courtesy of Louis.
"For Narnia!" Louis shouted, spinning around and narrowly missing Holly. She quickly reloaded and fired two abrupt foam bullets at his chest.

I had the smart idea to run to the backyard, expecting her to take my lead, while he was distracted, and Zayn followed. Zayn and I were recovering from our fifty-meter sprint when I noticed that none of the opposing team had tracked us outside, and Holly was still in there. I guess they all were aiming for her. As good as she is, I think one Louis, one Liam, and one Harry is a bit too much for her.
"Crud Zayn! We have to get her!" I whisper-yelled to him. He turned to me, panting.
"Who?" He questioned, resting his hands in his knees as we both bent over.
"The Queen of England," I sarcastically answered, rolling my eyes.
"Holly! Duh," I said.
"Fine," he huffed, reloading his Maverick. I raced back inside, hearing a bunch of shouts. Mostly Louis', though. . .
When I entered the game room, Liam and Harry were nowhere to he seen, and Holly and Louis were in the center of the room, their weapons facing each other. I silently watched them face off.
In a blink of an eye, Holly tackled Louis on the floor. He groped for his fallen Switch Shot with one hand, but to no avail. She straddled him and held her Strikefire in his face, daring him to move.
"Ugh, fine! I surrender!" Louis shouted throwing his hands up. She triumphantly grinned and got off him, helping him up.
"Nice job there," he admitted, shaking hands with her.
"Not too bad yourself," she said.
"The war is over!" Holly declared, her loud voice luring everyone out of their hiding places.

Louis' comrades ran downstairs and Zayn and I rounded the corner. They all took one look at who still had their weapon and grinned.
"You just got beat by a girl, Lou!" Zayn shouted, smacking Louis' head.
"How're you so good at this stuff?" Harry asked her. She shrugged.
"I used to do that a lot with. . . Dylan," she quickly muttered his name, moving on.
"You guys deserted me!" She jokingly said to Zayn and me.
"Don't blame me! It was Niall's idea," Zayn told her.
"Only because I thought you'd follow me," I defended myself. She laughed, giving both of us hugs.
"It's all cool," she assured me.

"So what now?" Liam asked. We all shrugged.
"There's either the movie, or do something else," Zayn said.
"LET'S GO TO THE PARK!" Louis shouted, leaping off the couch that he was previously standing on. He landed on Holly's back, and the force of the impact made her fall, narrowly missing the coffee table.
"Louis!" Liam scolded him.
"Gosh, what'd you eat?" Holly asked, groaning and standing up, shaking him off.
"Food. What else?" He smirked.
"I think you broke my back," she joked, wincing. I crouched down in front of her.
"C'mon Holls. I promise you won't break my back," I smiled at her. She returned it and tentatively jumped on, landing lightly. Her hands rested around my shoulders, holding her head close to mine.
"Aww!" Everyone chorused. I rolled my eyes and hitched Holly higher with a little jump. She giggled, her hair softly tickling my nose.
"Onward, trusty steed!" She declared, pointing an arm to the doorway, laughing even as she said it. I chuckled, and took off running, snatching my jacket on the way out. The rest of the guys chased us, but only Liam was fast enough to catch up to us. Holly was unbelievably light, so I managed to make it to the park in under three minutes.
