Summer Nights
Chapter Ten
*Niall's P.O.V*
They followed us out to the courtyard. I took a seat on the fountain edge, and Holly sat down next to me. The boys quickly located a football and started kicking it back and forth. I was watching them and enjoying the cool autumn air when Holly suddenly turned to me."Do you want to play soccer?" She asked. At first, I was confused. Then, realizing what she was trying to ask. I chuckled.
"Don't you mean football, love?"
"Yeah, sorry, I still have to get used to your different words," she said, laughing at herself. I liked that about her– she didn't take herself too seriously.
"I'd love to," I said, taking her hand and leading her down the steps.
"Mind if we join?" Holly asked them, and they shook their heads. Louis passed the ball to her, and she dribbled it over the the stone arch they'd marked as the goal. Harry was the goalie, and she sent the ball flying through the arch, Harry completely missing it. Louis groaned.
"Come on Harry! You really need to work on your football skills," he complained. Harry sheepishly grinned and raised his hands up in mock defeat.
"Hey! Who made the ball go towards the school today, making us meet this lovely lady?" He asked. Holly blushed, and went to go retrieve the ball.
"Good point there," Liam teased.
"Isn't that right, Niall?" Zayn asked, nudging me. I rolled my eyes and playfully punched him in the arm.
"Come on, we all know–" Harry got cut off by the bell ringing. We all groaned.
"No! I heard the Science teacher's really strict," Holly complained, dropping the football and heading towards the doorway, us following her.
"He is, but you have me to help you!" Harry joked.
"And me!" Zayn added.
"Hey! Don't forget about me!" I pouted. Holly ran back and threw her arms around all five of us.
"Of course I won't!" She exclaimed, walking with us back inside and to our
lockers.
"So guys, guess who's having their first mates' night with us after school?" I asked as we all got our textbooks. Louis made a thinking face and tapped a finger to his chin.
"Hmm, is it a girl?" He asked. I nodded.
"Does she like to play football?" I rolled my eyes.
"Never mind Louis. You obviously need a bigger hint, so I'm coming over later tonight! Unless y'all have something else, then I can just text you later instead. . ." she said, worrying over if the boys would want her there.
"Of course you can come! You are my sister, after all," Zayn said, wrapping an arm around her shoulder, bringing back up the joke from this morning. Louis fake cried, dramatically throwing himself at Holly.
"Why wouldn't you come? I need you, Mrs. Sass Master from. . . erm, where are you from, exactly?" He asked. Holly giggled at his antics, but responded anyway.
"Shasta, California."
"That's PERFECT!" Louis excitedly shouted, completely forgetting the fact that we were surrounded by a bunch of students and teachers. Only after receiving glares from all the staff did he finally calm down and talk like a normal person.
"As I was saying, I need you at mates' night, Mrs. Sass Masta from Shasta!" He gleefully shouted, proud to be the first one to use her new nickname.
"Ok, I'll be there then," she replied, high-fiving him. We all split ways as Liam and Harry headed to the Math classroom and the rest of us went to the Science room.
