*Holly's P.O.V*
I sighed and threw my hairbrush on the dresser. I'd spent the past ten minutes on my hair and it still looked like a bird's nest to me. Normally, I wouldn't care about things like my appearance a lot, but today was my first day at my new high school, and I wanted to make a good impression– especially since this school has already been in session for almost a month.
I critically surveyed my outfit in the mirror. I was wearing jeans and a mint-colored top. Less comfortable than I'd prefer, but I can probably deal with it for seven hours. I slipped on a pair of converse and ran the brush through my hair one last time. I left it natural and wavy, and I avoided my rarely-used makeup. I left my room and headed downstairs. When I entered the kitchen, Mom was making some eggs. She slid them onto a plate and placed it in front of me. I gratefully smiled at her and scarfed them down. Just as I was putting the plate in the dishwasher, my younger sister came downstairs. "You have three minutes to eat! Your makeup and outfit don't take that long! Whatever, just grab a granola bar or something– I gotta drive you to school," I grabbed my car keys and made my way to the garage. The new house was seriously confusing; it was like an ancient Greek labyrinth or something. I'd barely found my way from the kitchen to the garage the first time I'd attempted to drive to the store. Whitney followed me and put her backpack in the trunk. I placed my bag in the passenger seat as she climbed into the back seat.
All the way to her school, she chattered nonstop. I was relieved when I finally pulled into her school. She clambered out. "Have fun!" I called out. She waved and immediately ran to a group of people who made space for her and continued talking. I glanced at my watch, and sped out. I had exactly thirty-seven minutes to get to my first class.
