One Shots
Gotta Be You - A Harry Styles One Shot
With my VIP ticket in hand, and each lock curled into a perfect ringlet, I nervously awaited the boys of One Direction. My heart was pounding and all I could imagine was finally seeing Harry again.
We had been best friends since birth. We went to primary and secondary together, I was there supporting him for his X Factor audition, and now I was here to support him as an international popstar.
I heard them walk through the door, and spun around. My eyes instantly locked with his. I wore an earsplitting grin and called to him, "Harry." It all happened in slow motion, but he strode over to me, his now muscular body moving swiftly.
His strong arms engulfed me into a hug. "Rachel! What're you doing here?" His low voice spoke in my ear and I felt his hot breath tickle my neck.
"Thought I'd come visit an old friend." I pulled away from him and smiled at him warmly. Harry's eyes were now darker then before, and were gleaming with happiness. That half smirk that I have come to love played at his lips.
I heard someone clear their throat behind him, and I peeked over his broad shoulder to see the others. These boys certainly looked good together because they were all gorgeous. I watched as the one with puppy brown eyes came over to me.
"I'm Liam," he told me coolly. He stuck out his hand and I gladly shook it.
The blonde one quickly jumped in. "His name doesn't matter, just remember that my name is Niall." I giggled at his playfulness.
"I'll keep that in mind. I'm Rachel," I informed.
"So you're Rachel. Well I must say, Harry did not do you justice when he described you. Which is quite a lot," someone called out. A tall boy with chestnut colored hair and laughing icy blue eyes strode up to me and held his hand out. I placed mine in it and he pulled it up to his lips, brushing the back of my hand softly. I blushed madly. "Louis," he told me.
I was finally introduced to Zayn, who was polite, but he mainly kept to himself. I turned to Harry who was standing silently behind me, and saw him brooding. I furrowed my brows together then sauntered away from Louis. "Hey," I whispered. His furious eyes met mine and instantly softened. "What's up?" I asked him worriedly.
Harry only shop his head in response. But I knew him far too well to know nothing was wrong. I opened my mouth, ready to interrogate him, but I was interrupted by Niall.
"Hey, Rachel! C'mere for a sec!" I turned to Harry who was still looking furious.
"Well go on then. Wouldn't want to keep him waiting, now would we?" His tone was harsh and stern. I looked at him horrified before stomping off to Niall. The poor boy went on and on thinking he had my attention, but really all of my attention was focused on the green eyed lad who I was really here for. Every time I would try to capture his attention, he purposely looked anywhere but at me. This only made my anger grow more.
"Rach, can we talk?" Harry's voice registered in my brain, and I unsteadily got up. Without waiting for my response, he stalked off and headed out the door, leaving me to follow limply behind him.
When I reached Harry, he didn't give me any time to prepare for what was coming next. "Rach, I don't appreciate you flirting with the boys. They're too much for you to handle, and honestly you look desperate flirting with my friends. Go for someone else," he told me bluntly.
"Excuse me?" I asked in utter disbelief.
"Yeah, you heard me," Harry growled.
"There's a solution for that then, my apparent problem and yours as well," I told him icily. The anger seeped into my voice and my blood boiled. The nerve!
"Oh yeah? Go on."
"Next time just pluck up the courage to ask me out before someone else does! I'm not going to wait forever, Harry!" I yelled at him. Harry froze and looked at me like I had suddenly lost a limb on the spot.
"That has nothing to do with this," he whispered.
"Ok, Harry. Well then next time I just won't come around. Because it's so hard for you to see me talk to your friends," I retorted harshly.
"Hey, Harry and Rachel what's goin' on?" Niall popped his head out.
"Nothing, mate. We'll be in in a second," Harry told him.
We sat in an uncomfortable and tense silence for a long time. My rapid and uneven breathing was the only thing that we could hear. Eventually Harry was dragged away for the concert. I glumly trailed behind them, and gave many fake smiles to reassure that I was fine. But in reality, I was not ok. I was far from it.
"I dedicate this song to a very god friend of mine," I heard Harry explain. "I made a huge mistake, and now I'm afraid I cannot mend the broken. But, I'm taking this chance now to tell her that I have felt far more for her than she thought. She is much more." I moved around many technicians no doubt to work the lights and whatnot to get a glimpse of them.
Harry met my eyes for a slip second before the music started.
"Girl I see it in your eyes you're disappointed. 'Cause I'm the foolish one you anointed with your heart. I tore it apart. And girl what a mess I made upon your innocence, and no woman in the world deserves this. But here I am asking you for one more chance." I watched as Liam finished his part, then stepped back to allow Harry to have center stage. I was so focused in on him, I had barely noticed when Louis had walked over to me. He stuck his hand out for me to take, and smiled encouragingly at me. I hesitated for several long minutes before giving in.
I was led to a stool waiting for me. I sat down gingerly as the crowd erupted into shouts. I'm sure of protest. Harry locked eyes with me and I saw nothing but apology in them. He brought the mic up to his plump lips and continued, "Can we fall one more time? Stop the tape and rewind? Oh, and if you walk away I know I'll fade 'cause there is nobody else. It's gotta be you, only you. It's gotta be you, only you."
Liam looked to begin his solo, but Harry began. The boys retreated knowingly. They knew that Harry wanted this, needed this.
"Now, girl, I hear it in your voice and how it trembles. When you speak to me I don't resemble who I was. You've almost had enough. And your actions speak louder than words, and you're about to break from all you've heard. But don't be scared, I ain't goin' nowhere."
His words bring tears to my eyes, but I attempt to choke them back. His beautiful green irises seem to glaze over as well. My body betrays me as a stray tear flows down my rosy cheeks. Harry gently presses his thumb to my face to remove it as the boys continue the song. We sit in our own little bubble completely wrapped up in each other, speaking with only our eyes. Words are not necessary for we already know what we wish to say.
The song ends, and Harry wastes no time to lead me away from center stage. Now we are alone and I am completely at his exposure; I am vulnerable and weak but enjoying every second of the thrilling sensation. I shiver under his longing gaze and look up at him from underneath my thickly coated eyelashes.
Before I know it Harry's lips capture mine in a sweet kiss. My eyes flicker closed almost immediately as I crave for more of the long awaited touch. I bring my trembling hands up to his hard chest as his lips become more urgent and hungry. I am quick to keep up with his pace and happily oblige when he begs me for entrance.
Harry's arms are now resting on my waist whilst his hands wander to my bum. I have never experienced such a love and have no clue what to do, so I allow my feelings of lust and desire guide my naive mind.
His sweet tongue strokes mine gently, and he continues to make love to my mouth for several seconds before we pull apart, breathless. My cheeks are flushed, my nerves are frazzled, and my heart seems ready to give out at any second. But I have never felt more alive.
"I take it I'm forgiven?" Harry smirks.
I roll my eyes at my best friend but node earnestly. "Just don't screw it up again," I tease. I playfully hit his chest. He displays an expression of mock hurt, but soon wraps me in his arms again. We sit for several long moments in a blissful silence just listening to each other's uneven breathing.
Of course, Harry has a job to complete so he leaves me regretfully standing there to admire him. And that's all I will do for the rest of our time together: admire him and his ability to take my breath away.
