That Was When We Were 7

Chappie 2- I guess that's what friends do

I picked up my towel from the floor and walked back to the bathroom, hanging it and then picking up my pyjamas that I had left there before I took a shower. I chucked them in my room and walked downstairs to the kitchen smelling the overly familiar smell of pancakes.

“Morning mum!” I plopped onto the bar stool and stared at the already waiting pancakes in front of me.

“Morning sweetie, don’t eat them to fast or you will get a stomach ache” my mum warned scrubbing away at the dishes at the sink.

“I will try not to, it’s not my fault you are good at cooking” I replied with a mouthful of maple syruped pancake in my mouth. It was nice complimenting people and I always compliment mum on her food, always. That’s probably why I had big boobs and a bit butt. She always cooked and made the recipe exactly right and most of them were fattening…Unfortunately.

“Thank you sweetie now you better hurry up and meet your friends, they are probably waiting for you right now” she rinsed the plates and put them in the rack, wiping her hands on her clothes and grabbing her own dish of pancakes.

“I will mum don’t worry about my friends, they can wait” I stated. She laughed and dug into her food, a pleasured smile spread across her face. I swallowed the last of my pancake and left it on the table, picking up my fully charged phone from the power point and rushing to the door.

“Bye mum thank you for breakkie!” I called back slipping my feet into my red boots and opening the door, a sudden gush of cold wind sent shivers up my spine.

“You sure you are going to be warm in that?” I heard my mum call.

“Yes I can live, if I am about to die I will walk into a shop and live there, I don’t think they will mind” I called back slowly shutting the door to hear my mum chuckle softly as I shut the door.
I took careful steps making my way out the front yard and opening the small and frail gate and unlatched it before closing it and running out on the streets. I had to meet my friends at Starbucks and after Starbucks meet my soccer friends at the soccer field.

I had heaps of friends and they all wanted to say their last goodbyes to me before I left which is tomorrow even though some of them will get to the airport as well. I guess this is what friends did.

I took a couple of turns and had made it to Starbucks to see a large group of girls waiting outside talking and squealing amongst themselves. Kaley my best friend turned around and screamed running up to me, her tight white top and cute floral mini skirt fluttered in the wind, her hair gave great depth in her outfit, browney-blonde.

“Liberty Steath I will fucking miss your guts and everything! The way you sleep and the way you think during class everythinggg~” she burst into fake sobs and hugged me tight, her neck nuzzling into my scarf.

“I’m not gone yet, unless you want me to so badly I won’t mind leaving right now.” I laughed she looked up at me and winked.

“Babe today we have to do all the possible things that we can do in one day, one” she squealed and hugged me tight before grabbing my hand and taking me to the group of girls that were already starting to run towards us. “LIBERTY!” all the girls shouted before lunging at me and pulling me into large suffocating hugs and sloppy kisses on the cheek. “Thanks guys I needed that” I wiped my cheeks and gave them a hug each.

“Libby babe, do you know how much this is going to hurt us? It’s going to hurt even more then the time Justine slapped me in the face!” Alex cried. She was funny always joked and teased but it wasn’t meant to hurt in that way. “I never slapped you in the face? What the hell are you talking about?” Justine cried she was concentrating on remembering if she ever slapped her.

“You never did that’s the whole point, duh” Alex stated, we all burst out laughing along with Justine who just realised the joke and laughed as well. I was going to seriously miss this place and these people.

After at least 3 hours of talking about how we met and all the little things that we did together such as in primary school we would go to the bathroom together, it’s awkward now but not in primary school, sharing each other’s lunch because one person in the group forgot to pack their own, just so many things that I would of forgotten if no one reminded me of these happenings.

It only occurred to me that at least half of my group actually went to primary school with me. ”Do you remember what it was like when you were little in London Libby?” I looked at April, whose short auburn hair wavered from the wind, she was really pretty.

“Not really I only remember one person that I play with on my street…we never even actually said goodbye…” I paused and everyone eyed me zooming closer and closer so I would continue. “That’s all I remember” I lied.
