fighting for what we want
Chapter 15
**Niall POV**
I was laying down in my bed, it was about two in the morning. I really need to get to sleep, Ruby's ultrasound is at 10:00am tommorow and I need to be well rested so that I can see my beautiful baby on the screen. I'm going to get a picture made up so that I can put it in my wallet. I can not wait to see the baby. Oh my gaud. I can't believe it!!! I'm going to be a father!! I just can't believe it. I've been brainstorming baby names and I-I- just can't believe it. I'm so excited, I can't wait. Okay so Ruby said she was 2 and bit months along... so... 7 whole months!!!! I can't wait that long!!! Okay, go to sleep now.
I woke up and a grin spread across my face. I looked at my phone and it was 8:14am. Ah!! I have to get ready- now!!! Seriously. I jumped up, quickly showered, brushed my teeth and ran to the guest bedroom, where Ruby spent the night. I quietly knocked and she didn't answer. I started to get worried and knocked louder. She still didn't answer. I opened the door and there she was, laying still on her bed, sleepy soundly. I sighed with relief and gazed at her. She looked so peaceful, it would be a crime to wake her up, butI knew I had to. I sighed again and shook her shoulder lightly. "Ruby? Sweet heart? You have to wake up now, our appointment is soon", i said gently. "Hmm?", she said. "Come on", I said. She blinked a few times, but woke up completely when she rubbed her eyes slightly. She blushed furiously because of the fact that she slept in her bra and underwear because she didn't want to sleep in her clothes. I offered her a shirt of mine but she refused because she didn't want to impose. She desperately covered herself up with the comformer and I chuckled quietly. "Oh, Ruby. Nothing I haven't seen before", I laughed. "Time to get dressed", I said. I walked out and waited patiently for her to get ready for her appointment. I made a breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and sausages and set the table for her. You have no idea how hard it was not to scoff the entire meal down right away. No! Niall, wait for Ruby. I heard some gagging and vomiting noices and I was a about to rush upstairs when I heard the flush then some footsteps. "Ahem", said someone. I turned around to see Ruby wearing this and I gasped. She blushed and walked downstairs. "Y-You made breakfast?", she asked. "Y-Yea, I guess it did", I blushed. "And you didn't eat it already?", she laughed. "I was very hard", I laughed back. "Eh, are you okay?", I asked nervously. "Um, yea, just, heh, morning sickness", she said quietly. We started eating and by the time we finished, it was 9:32am. "Oh my god, we have to go now!", I said. We rushed to the car and I was driving extra carefully and slowly. Ruby sighed. "Are you okay?", I asked quickly. "Yea I'm fine. Look you don't have to drive this slow, I'm only pregnant", she said quietly. I looked at her when we stopped at the lights and I saw a tear slip down her face. I panicked. "No, stop crying!!!", I said. "Everybody treats me differently now", she whispered. The light turned green and the rest of the drive was silent.
We arrived at the apointment and patiently sat in the waiting room. Not talking to each other. Finally, a woman walked into the room. "Uh.. Ms Jones?", she said loudly. We both stood up and walked inside, my stomach was full of butterflies and I felt so nervous. The doctor walked into the room and told Ruby to lay down on the bed. He introduced himself as Dr. Constantine and lifted up Ruby's shirt slightly, Dr. Constantine rubbed some kind of wierd liquid on her stomach and got out some kind on scanning thing and turned on the moniter. He placed the small device on her stomach, where the gel was, and almost instantly, we say a beautiful image on the screen. There it was... my baby. Not big enough to see properly and to see the gender, but I could still see a little pulsing dot on the screen, which indicated the child's heartbeat. I didn't even know I was crying until a tear fell on my arm. I wiped them and Ruby grasped my hand and squesed it- hard. I winced, but smiled deeply before placing a small kiss on her lips. So far, this was the single most important day of my life- and the happiest. "Now, would you like me to make up a picture?", he asked. "Of course", I replied. "Make a few", finished Ruby. "Sure, I'll be right back", he said. When the doctor got back, he handed me the pictures and said that we had second appointment in 3 months, to check the progress of the baby.
The drive home was in a comfortable silence and as soon as we arrived, we were bombarded with questions. "Well?" "Is she pregnant?" "How long?" "When will it be born?" "Bot or girl?" "What are you going to name it?" "When's the next appointment?" I dismissed the questions. "Three months", I said simply, and walked upstairs. I layed down on my bed and took the pictures out of my pocket. I fliped through them slowly and smled. I fell asleep with them in my arms.
