Past and Present

LIAM’S P.O.V.

“What do you want Samy?” I whispered angrily, my head burned from this stupid event. I can’t believe she was watching us the whole night. I imagined how Coke would feel when the pictures get released, her crying, breaking down, I can’t let that happen.

She said, smiling devilishly. I wouldn’t be surprised if read horns started growing out of her head.

“I want you to break up with her.” She said.

“No,” I replied, “anything but that, please.” I know this is what she’s always wanted. For us to break up. For Colen to be unhappy.

“Alright,” she said, “then I want you to secretly cheat on her,” she leaned in and whispered in my ear, “with me.”

She’s not giving me a choice. I clenched my fists tightly. This isn’t right, it can’t happen. There’s no way I will ever cheat on Coke. But again she’s my absolute everything and she’s too important to let go. There’s no way I’ll break up with her. I can’t. I won’t.

I stared at Sammy, she stared right back. I won’t break up with Colen, Not for her. Not for anyone.

“Fine.” I said. I bit my tongue to keep myself from yelling, crying. I can’t believe I’ve agreed. But I’m doing this for Colen, I’m keeping her safe, I’m protecting her.

Sammy smiled, clearly pleased with herself. “One more thing… If you tell Colen about this, you know what will happen.” She kissed me on the cheek and whispered, “I’ll be watching.” With that, she turned around and left.

I went to meet up with my girlfriend, I kept my head down. I can’t believe this is happening; I’m going to have to cheat on the one I love the most to protect her.

I saw her waving to me and went over.

“Hey!” Coke smiled the most beautiful smile.

I smiled back, but I was just not in the mood.

“What’s wrong?” She asked, “Is your body weakening again?”

“Yeah… a bit…” I replied. I feel terrible lying to her. After we’ve been through so much together. My stomach feels like a pit and I want to throw up.

As we walked hand in hand to class, I turned to her.

“I’m sorry,” I whispered.

“For what?” She smiled cheerfully. If only she knew what's going on she wont be able to smile so innocently.

“For everything.” I pulled her into a hug, feeling her in my arms make me feel better. I wish I never have to let go.
