I stormed into the cafeteria later that day. Usually after fourth hour, Kelsie would wait for me at her locker. Not today. I sat down at the table that just me and Kelsie usually sat at not wanting to eat today. I layed my head on the table and just looke around at all the tables. Friends were happy and laughing and talking about what they were doing after school. I sat with my head laying on an empty table with a headache. I looked toward the lunch line to see Kelsie, Jenny, and Nichole walking towards the popular table. Cameron, Arik, and Tyler were already there.
"Hey babe", Nichole said siting down kissing Cameron's cheek. He smirked and kissed back. I rolled my eyes and turned back around facing the other side of the cafeteria. I reached in the back pocket of my super skinny jeans and grabbed my phone. I turned it on making a noise that no one really heard. I typed in the passcode which was 0906- sadly, the day Kelsie and I became best friends. September in 2006. I went to my messages to see one from my dad.

Dad: Come home right afterschool, kay? Chloe and I will be out somewhere until later on tonight. Stephanie will be there to babysit you a while after you get home. Bye,love.

I didn't reply and simply just turned my phone back off. Kelsie was at the garbage can throwing away her food. This was my chance. I got up and quickly walked over to where she was. She had been distracted by phone so she didn't see me walk up.
"Hey Kelsie"! I said as she jumped. I must've startled her.
"Ohh. Hi", she said looking back down at her phone.
"Can I talk to you? It's kind of important", I said praying that she would spare me time. She thought for a minute.
"Yeah. Lets go to the bathroom", she said. We immediately left the cafeteria.

"So what do you want to talk about"? She asked like she didn't give a care in the world.
"Kelsie!! What's going on? We haven't talked all day and you've been hanging out with...them"! I said with a shiver.
"Okay first of all, don't say 'them'! They are really nice and you haven't even given them a chance. They're my friends and I'm sticking up for them. Second, I'm getting bored with this friendship Darcy. I've wanted to be popular my whole life nd you can't even respect that I got a chance"!? She said like I was the bad guy. I just stared at her in shock. Did she just really say that?
"Our friendship is getting boring? Kels, we've been friends since 1st grade! 1st freaking grade! 8 years of us being friends and this means nothing to you"? I asked louder than my voice had been.
"Darcy...everything happens for a reason. I was meant to be friends with Jenny and Nichole. I just don't feel like hanging out with you anymore. Ever since your dad got with that new chick, you've been super weird and quiet. More dark colors, only sweatshirts? What are you hiding"? She asked in a snotty tone. Anger and sadness were building up at the same time. Lets see: I get abused by my soon to be step-mom and my dad has NO clue, I think I just lost my only friend for good, I've tried commiting suicide which didn't work, I've cut, I get bullied every day by two of the rudest girls ever! What aren't I hiding? But of course I'm not gonna tell her that. It would be around the school in he next few minutes.
"What are you talking about? I'm the same as I was in the beginning of the year. You changed not me", I argued. She rolled her eyes walking toward the door of the bathroom.
"Goodbye Darcy".

I shivered as I walked home from school that afternoon. My headphones were in so I could take my mind off of everything that had happened today. I stopped on the side of the road so I could quickly change songs.
"Darcy"! I heard through my headphones. I took them off and looked around. Who was calling my name.
"Darcy"! I heard again. I turned around to see Justin. He ran to catch up with me.
"Hey"! I said taking the headphones off and tossing them into my backpack.
"I seen you sitting by yourself at lunch today. What happened"? He asked. I pushed a piece of hair out of my face that the wind blew.
"Oh just Kelsie drama", I said. I didn't want to talk about it.
"Oh! As in Cameron's twin sister"? He asked. I nodded. Suddenly, his face lit up.
"She's really cute! I asked her to the Christmas dance this Friday and she said yes"! He said. My heart dropped. Kelsie and Justin? Together? They never talked or anything. I was a little disappointed that they had been going. I mean, I don't LIKE him but he's one of my friends. And I don't want him getting hurt by some popular girls.
"Oh. That's cool",I said hesitating on whether or not I should put my headphones back in. I had lost total interest on the conversation
"Yeah. Are you going"? He asked.
"I have to. I got chosen to work the snack table", I said. I really wish I didn't have to go. I hated dances.
"Ohh. Okay", he said. We were walking up to the cutoff where Justin turned on the right road and I turned on the left.
"Well hope everything goes better. Bye", he said turning.
"Bye", I said turning. I put in my headphones listening to more music on the rest of the walk.
