Finding Myself.
apologies
I could hear the boys picking up the pieces of the camera that had smashed over the driveway, scattering into a million pieces. I breathed heavily, letting out more tears.
“You’re alright.” Harry said soothingly. “You’re alright.” He repeated calmly.
Still huddling my knees to my chest, I slowly whipped my face. My hands shook. I tried to whip the tears away, but I failed. My hands automatically curled back into my chest. Closing my eyes again, I felt two large, soft, warm hands whip the tears off my cheeks, and the wet water around my eyes. I opened my eyes once again to see Harry pushing my hair behind my ear. Then it hit me. I was in Harrys arms, curled up like a baby. My heart skipped multiple beats as I quickly uncurled my body and shakily stood up.
“S-Sorry.” I said to Harry, not making eye-contact.
“Destiny, let me take you inside.” Clara said. I hadn’t noticed that she’d been standing next to Harry. She held my arm gently, leading me into the house slowly.
“That’s it.” She said as we reached the last step on the staircase.
She led me to my room, and set my down on my bed. It was great to feel the soft covers as I crawled under them.
“I’ll bring you up something.” Clara smiled as she walked out of my room, shutting the door behind her.
I sat in my bed, going over what had just happened a million times in my head.
A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts.
“Come in!” I said quietly.
The door handle turned, and the door opened. In walked Harry.
“The camera is definitely broken.” He smiled, as he lent on my wall and shoved his hands in his pockets.
I smiled back at him. “Look, Harry. I’m sorry for-“ I tried to finish but Harry cut me off.
“Destiny, don’t worry about it at all. It was my pleasure. As long as you’re okay.” Harry’s smile faded and his cheeks blushed to replace it.
He wasn’t the only one; I could feel my cheeks getting redder by the second.
Thank God that Clara walked in then; otherwise I may have just turned into a tomato.
“Here Destiny. I made you some soup.” She smiled as she set it down on my bed-side table.
“Thank you.” I smiled at her.
The soup smelt incredible. I wanted to devour it right then and there, but I decided to wait for Harry to leave.
“Well, Harry and I will leave you be now, right Harry?” Clara looked at Harry expectantly.
“Oh! Yeah, right!” Harry replied, and followed Clara out of the room.
As my door shut, I reached over eagerly for my soup. I slurped it down, savouring each sip, as the hot, chickeny goodness slid down my throat.
After finishing my soup, I heard a knock at the door.
The door was pushed open, and I was so happy to see my brother’s sweet face peep into the room.
“Niall!” I breathed as he sat down on the side of my bed.
I threw my arms around him and smiled as he squeezed me back.
“Destiny…” he said, when he pulled out of the hug and looked at me.
“I just want to apologize for everything. You shouldn’t have gone up into the tree, I should have protected you. Sorry about Louis. He’s bossy, and as you can see, he doesn’t warm towards new people very well. I feel absolutely terrible about everything that happened today. I’m your big brother, I should protect you! I’m your brother!” Niall looked down at the floor of my bedroom.
I couldn’t help it. I threw my arms around Niall’s neck and buried my head in his shoulder.
I pulled my head away, and looked him in the eyes. “Niall! Don’t be so silly! You did absolutely nothing wrong. If it’s anyone’s fault, it’s mine!” I said loudly, but gently, then put my head back on his shoulder.
“I love you sis. I’m so sorry for everything I’ve put you through. Even with…” he paused. “Mum and dad.” He finished, then hugged me tighter.
I was looking down, and when I pulled my eyes back up, I gasped.
“Louis! What are you doing here?” I said, as I pulled away from my brother.
Louis was leaning on the side of the door frame. “Ah, hi.” He said awkwardly.
“Louis…” Niall said sternly.
“Niall, I’m here to um.” Louis paused, and looked around my room, out the window, then back to Niall. “Apologize.”
I smiled slightly.
“Destiny.” Louis started. “I’m sorry for pushing you to grab the camera. It was wrong. And I also want to say sorry for being rude to you ever since you got here… I don’t warm to new people very well. Personal issue.”He said, then turned to leave the room.
“Louis!” I shouted after him. He turned and came back to the door.
“Don’t worry about it.” I smiled at him.
He smiled at me, than looked at Niall. “You’re lucky to have such a great sister.” He smiled, than left the room.
Niall turned to me. “It’s true!” He smiled. “Except…” He looked at me cheekily.
“You’re the luckier one! I mean, look at me!” He laughed, and pulled a silly face.
I chucked and pulled one too.
“You two are so related.” Clara said as she walked in to collect my empty soup bowl, and we all laughed.
After Niall and Clara left my room, I fell asleep.
“You’re alright.” Harry said soothingly. “You’re alright.” He repeated calmly.
