"Well today sucked! I only saw like two okay freshman! We have to be good this year" Maddie whined as we finished our cheerleading practice. So far the squad wasn't looking too good.

"It's only the first day of captain's practice, Maddie! More will come to tryouts I'm sure.." I said hoping she wasn't right. I'm the captain of the cheerleading squad, I have to be positive!

Sophie, Maddie and I walked across the fields after a long captain's practice to catch the end of the football team's scrimmage. Fall sports had officially begun at Malibu High School.

"Ethan's looking good out there, Aubrey!" Sophie playfully elbowed me, he was my boyfriend of almost a year now. He's your typical football player, strong, messy, and loud! I love him though.

"He's just acting weird lately. I don't know, maybe he's just stressed about football?" I let out a deep sigh. Ethan Tucker was the star quarterback of our football team, and definitely had a lot to live up to. The team has won state three years in a row now, and everyone's expecting a fourth victory this season as well.

"Yeah, I'm sure that's all it is!" Sophie reassured me. She has always been the sweet friend. I mean don't get me wrong, I love Maddie, but she is definitely the bitchiest out of us three! She just has an opinion on everything, and isn't afraid to say it.

Sophie, Maddie and I were the three, inseparable best friends. We've done everything together since the seventh grade. These girls are my life.

"Hey baby!" Ethan yelled as he walked towards us after practice ended, his long hair dripping wet with sweat and the water he just poured on himself. It was nearly 100 degrees in LA today, not the ideal temperature for outdoor sports!

"So, your house at 9, right?" Maddie asked as she and Sophie stood up to leave, they didn't like third wheeling with Ethan and I even though we are all good friends. I balance my time equally between the girls and Ethan, so they didn't mind.

"Sounds good! See you then" I waved at them then laced my fingers with Ethan's as we started walking to his truck. "How's the team looking?"

"Struggling a little, but it's only the first day back.. You wanna go grab something to eat? I'm starving" he said after finishing the water in his bottle and chucking it in the garbage bin.

"I really have to finish my summer reading before everyone comes over tonight!"

"Really Aubrey? You're such a nerd" he laughed. "Well I'll see you tonight then" he leaned down and kissed me.

Yes that's right, he did call me a nerd, and I'm not denying it. Even though you wouldn't normally think of cheerleaders being the smartest in the world, I take pride in my 4.0 GPA. I've worked my ass off in school so I can hopefully get into Stanford next fall, my dream college.

You see, Aubrey Flynn isn't your typical cheerleader, yes she's the most popular girl in school and is dating the star quarterback, but she's not the intimidating bitch like the ones in movies. She is enrolled in all advanced classes, but still knows how to let loose and have fun with her friends. She's nice to everyone she talks to, and it seems like she's friends with everybody. And despite the fact that she lives in one of the biggest houses in Malibu and has just about everything she wants, she's still down to earth and doesn't take anything for granted.

After a long day of sports, I decided to have a little get together at my house. And by get together, I mean half the school, but I don't mind. I always love having people over, it makes it less lonely in this big house. You see, I'm an only child and my parents live in New York, so I stay here alone, but that's a story for a different time.

"You guys want another beer?" I yelled over the loud music rumbling in my house.

"Nah I'm good" Ryan said.

Ryan is Ethan's best friend, they're like brothers. They do everything together, but I feel bad for him sometimes because Ethan pushes him around a bit. He definitely tries to control him.

"No thanks babe" Ethan added in. We stood there and talked a few minutes before I noticed someone I had never seen before. Usually I wouldn't look twice because I always see new faces... I mean Malibu High is a big school, but this time I was curious. His tall, built structure and brown curly hair caught my attention.

"Who is that guy over there? I've never seen him before..." I pointed over to the curly-headed boy who was sitting alone on the couch.

"Oh that's Harry! He just transferred here from some school in Arizona. I invited him today after practice, he's trying out for the football team" Ryan said after chugging the rest of his beer.

"I'll go grab you another, Coors right?" I threw over my shoulder as I walked away from the guys towards the refrigerator. My eyes were fixed on this mysterious boy.

I walked over to the fridge under the bar in the basement and grabbed a can of Coors. When I made my way back to Ryan, I noticed Ethan was gone.

"Here," I handed him the beer "where did Ethan go?"

"Thanks, and I don't know he didn't tell me, but he was talking to that junior girl, I forgot her name"

"Maria?"

"Yeah that's her" before Ryan could say anything else I walked away trying to find my boyfriend. I trust him, but not Maria, she's a slut, and Ethan is already very drunk.

I searched every room in the house without luck. It's times like these where I wish I didn't live in such a big place! I asked everyone I saw, but their intoxicated asses didn't help so I decided to go grab my charging phone from my bedroom and call him.

"Ethan Tucker! What the fuck are you doing!" The first thing I saw when I walked in my room was that whore and my boyfriend sucking faces.

"Get the fuck out of my room, bitch!" I pulled Maria off of him and shoved her out of the room. I may be a cheerleader, but I could kick her ass any day.

"Aubrey.." Ethan knew he was caught red handed and there was no way he could get out of this one.

"We're done, Ethan. Get the hell out of my room" I pointed to the door. I would have argued more; but sadly, this isn't the first time it's happened. After I finally forgave him after the first time (stupid me), I told him if it ever happened again, we'd be done for good.

"Baby c'mon!" He slurred as he stood up from my bed and tried to kiss me.

"Ethan! If I hadn't come in you probably would have fucked her! In my god damn bed! Get out" I pushed him off me and he finally left.

After taking a minute to calm down, I decided what I really needed was more alcohol. I got myself together and walked back downstairs to the crowded basement.

I walked over to the fridge to grab a beer when I saw that new guy, Harry, standing alone.

"Hey, I'm Aubrey!"

"Oh so this is your house? Thanks for having the party" he said after taking a sip out of his red plastic cup.

"Yeah that's me! And no problem" I smiled. He was actually pretty attractive up close. And he had the cutest accent, but I couldn't tell where from.

"Oh I'm Harry, one of the guys on the football team invited me, I hope that's okay" He shoved his free hand in his front pocket. I could tell he was a bit nervous.

"Of course! So where are you.."

"Excuse me, I need to talk to my girlfriend" Ethan cut me off and grabbed my wrist as he intensely stared at Harry, who was obviously intimidated. Ethan is someone you don't want to fuck with, and Harry could tell.

"What the fuck were you doing?" Ethan scolded me after he pulled me into one of the guest rooms in the basement.

"Ethan let go of me! I'm not your girlfriend anymore, and even if I was I can talk to anyone I want to! Fuck off" I spat. He was one of those overly-protective guys. He hated seeing me talk to other guys, but he can't control me anymore.

I ran out of the room and found Sophie and Maddie out by the hot tub. Thankfully my small figure gave me an advantage while making my way through all of the people in my house, so I quickly lost Ethan. I should have dumped that douche a long time ago.

Not the best chapter, but I needed to set the scene and everything... I PROMISE it will get better :)
