Three of a kind
The Painting
Sam's POV:
I was relieved to have so much in common with Piper. She had almost no family, just like me.
Also, she was a lot nicer than I expected her to be. These girls seem great.
Turning my head, I see Mac elk back through the door. Nodding, I welcome her back with a "hey," which comes out as barely a whisper. In return, she nods back.
I sit on my bed, looking through the window. It's beautiful outside, with the clouds lying just perfectly over the sun. Unwilling to lost the moment, I quickly get out my paints and lean a blank canvas on the bed.
I dip my brush in the paint, and glide it over the canvas. Mac's eyes widen as she sees me work. She gasps, and I turn around, my eyes filled with question.
"Sorry," she says. "Just admiring your work."
"Thanks," I reply with a grin. Nobody has ever complimented my work before today, not even my sister. It feels great to be loved.
Focusing back on my painting, I add the final touch. The finished product has me, Mac, and Piper holding hands, behind us the beautiful landscape outside.
I decide to hang it up right over my bed. "To the beginning of our friendship!" I shout, smiling broadly.
They giggle, and we all come in for a group hug. "This will be the best year ever!" I think to myself.
And somehow, I know it will.
