I Can't Help It
Chapter 6.

I shut my locker to see Sandy standing there to my right, looking confused.
" What's wrong San?" I asked.
" Are they true?" She asked.
" Are what true?"
Her eyes met mine.
" That you tried to get In Will's pants?" Her question totally caught me off guard. I snorted.
" What?"
" Im serious Maria. He's telling everyone that you came up to him Friday after school and tried to get him to come into the storage closet with him. Atleast he was loyal to me and said no!" She said.
" Excuse me? He's telling people that?"
she clutched her binder even harder, her knuckles turning white.
" Yes! How could you?" She pretty much exploded in my face. I winced.
" I didn't! He tried to shove me in the storage closet. Against my will."
" And it never phased you to tell me that my boyfriend tried to get you to have sex with him? That's how I know your lying Maria because you would have told me if he was trying to get in your pants." She brushed past me.
" Because I didn't want you to get mad! It's not like you would have dumped him anyways! You'll always forgive him no matter what he does, so what's the point." I said. She turned around, angry.
" What are you saying?" She asked.
" To dump his ass! First he hurts you, then he hurts me, then he tried to rape me! And you are still with him."
She laughed.
" He would never rape anyone. Especially you of all people. That's why he declined your request Friday when you tried to some." She turned around leaving to first hour. I put my forehead against the lockers in frustsration as the first bell rang. Great. I was late. and I just lost my bestfriend.

I walked into First hour Friday feeling miserable. I hadn't spoken to Sandy since our fight, and to top the cherry, Harry hasn't spoken to me all week either. Like what the hell? Everytime I would raise my hand, he would chose someone else. On Monday, when i was late, he gave me a detention. He didn't even look my way any more. Maybe i sould talk to him. Ask him what's up. Once the bell rung, signaling for dismiss, I took a deep breath, and walked up to his desk.
" What is wrong with you?" I whispered. He looked up at me, then back down at his papers.
" I don't know what your talking about."
" Why are you ignoring me?" I hissed.
" Im not."
" Yes you are Harry." It accidentally slipped out of my mouth. His head snapped up.
" Mr. Styles to you."
" Whatever. You can't just say those things to me, then totally ignore me." I walked out feeling pissed.

From the moment she drove away Friday, I regretted what I said. I mean, its true. i do believe its fate that that keeps happening, but this Is a dangerous line I crossed by stating that. And the fact that I've hurt her, hurt me too. I didn't know ignoring her would hurt her, until just now when she stormed out, obviously angry. I really wanted to begg her to stay so I could hug her, and apologize for being rude all week. I just wanted to make things right. Maybe she would be at Kelly's after school today. She is usually there everyday, sitting at the same seat, eating the same thing. Whenever I walked in. With my luck, today will be the day she isn't there. But I crossed my fingers in hope she was. The secound bell rung and kids piled in for class.
" Hello Class." I stood up.

At the end of the day, I looked in the mirror of my car, trying to fix myself up Incase she's in there. I took a deep breath, walking into the warm café. I looked to my right, seeing her sipping on her tea, eating a bagel. I gave myself a victory high five. I walked up to the counter ordering the usual, and turned around to see she still hasn't looked up from her phone. Maybe I shouldn't approach her. Yes, I should. I walked over to her table.
" Maria." I said. She looked up from her phone, unfazed I was standing right there.
" Hello."
" May I?" I asked, pointing to the seat. She shrugged, and I took that as a yes. I sat down, sipping my coffee. She went back to her phone.
" Can I talk to you?" I asked. She sighed, clicking off her phone and setting it on the table. I studied her face. She was so beautiful. All though I could tell she's been crying. Her face was all red, her cheeks puffy.
" Have you been crying?" I asked.
" No." She snapped. I sighed.
" You can tell me if you were crying or not."
" Can I? I'm not sure if you would even realize I'm there."
Ouch.
" Trust me, I would." I said.
" Okay. Well what were you going to say?" She asked, trying to change the subject.
" I'm sorry. I'm sorry for this past week. I didn't know it would effect you or not if I did or didn't talk to you." I said. She sipped her tea, and leaned back. I could tell she was thinking.
" I forgive you." She said.
" Really?" I asked. She nodded.
" I need all the friends I can get right now."
" Why? What about Sandy?" I asked. She crossed her arms and looked at her feet under the table that were playing footsie with mine.
" What about her?"
" I noticed you guys haven't been sitting next to eachother. Is something up? "
she only nodded.
" Is that why you were crying?"
" Yeah." She croaked. I debated on what I should do next. Should I push her farther into it? No. Should I hug her? Yeah. That was the good option. I got up and stood next to her chair.
" Come here." I said. She stood up and wrapped her arms around my neck, burning her face in my chest to cry. I didn't even care if anyone saw us at this point.
" C'mon, let's get some fresh air." I said leading her outsider she grabbed her bag and caught up with me. i draped my arm around her shoulders, trying to comfort her some more. She felt so right under my arm. I opened the door as we started our walk, in the cold, England air.
