I Can't Help It
Chapter 44.
• Three days later •
I woke up to birds chirping. I smiled and stretched. Today, I was 18.
I got up, and ran downstairs to see my mom in her usual spot drinking coffee.
" Good Morning birthday girl!" She smiled. I laughed.
" Good morning."
she he set her coffee down and came over to hug me.
" My little girl is finally 18! Seems just like yesterday I was sending you off to your first day of kindergarten, in your little flower dress you loved to wear, with your hair in pigtails."
I smiled at the faint memory.
" I remember that."
" Well you better! You were so excited to start school and be a big girl. Now it's come to an end." She smiled, cupping my face and kissing my forehead.
" It's not ending mom, it's only just begun!" I smiled. She smiled too.
She turned around, grabbing a plate of bacon and a mug of coffee. My favorite.
" Yum. Thanks mom." I smiled. In a couple of months, I wouldn't have this anymore. I'd have to do everything myself.
I began chewing on my bacon and drinking my coffee as the door opened.
" Sandy!" I said, running over and hugging her. It seems like forever since we've hung out. I missed her. And yes, she has her own key to my house. She's practically family.
" Happy birthday babe!" She hugged me.
" Thanks!"
" I want to take you out shopping today." She smiled.
" Ohkay." I smiled.
" Hey Sandy." My mom said.
" Hey Ms. Summers." She smiled.
I ran upstairs stairs to quickly get ready For today. Today would be great.
" That was a tough day of shopping." Sandy said, as we sat down in the mall food court to rest.
" Tell me about it." I sighed.
" So how are you and Harry?" She asked.
I smiled.
" I met his parents."
her eyes widened in shock.
" No way."
" Way."
" You must have been a nervous wreck huh?" She laughed. I nodded.
" Yes actually, I was."
" Wow. Well that's great." She smiled.
" Yeah. I'm actually going over to his tonight." I said, checking the time.
" should we go get you ready?" She asked. I nodded.
" Alright, let's go."
We got home and I threw all my new clothes on my bed.
" I think I should wear this." I said, picking up a new outfit I got today.
" Yes definently. And wear, this, under it."
She he held up some navy blue lingerie that I had bought at Victoria secret today.
" Definently." I smiled.

After I was all ready to go me and Sandy walked down the stairs.
" Mom I'm going to Sandy's to spend the night." I lied.
" You look awful nice."
" Well we're going to go out."
" Ohkay. But hold on, there's something I want to give you." She said running to the kitchen, then back to the door. I took it from her and opened the small velvet box to see a beautiful diamond necklace.
" Mom, this is so pretty." I said, gently running my fingers over it.
" My mother gave it to me when I turned 18, and I wanted to give it to you for your 18th."
I looked up up at my mom and hugged her.
" I love you." I said.
" I love you too."
With that I took it out of the box, and she clipped it around my neck.
" It looks so pretty on you." She smiled.
I fiddled with the charm.
" Thanks mom."
" You're welcome. Now go have fun." She slapped my butt as me and Sandy made our way out of the door.
" You want me to drop you off?"
" yup."
I knocked on Harry's door.
" Hey Maria!" He opened it and I hugged him. He held me tight.
" Harry! I'm 18!"
" I know!" He laughed. He carried me inside his apartment, kicking the door shut.
I hopped off of him.
" Harry! I know you are still my teacher, and it could still get you fired, but my age is legal now! I can date you!"
" I know baby, I know." He chuckled.
" I'm just so happy." I leaned into him, resting my head into the crooke of his kneck. He wrapped his long, strong arms around me.
" Happy Birthday Maria." He kissed my forehead.
" Thanks Harry."
" I have a little date planned for tonight." He grinned. I smiled,
" Yay."
He let go of me, grabbing a basket of the counter and then lacing our fingers together.
" Come on, let's go."
" Wait, were going on a picnic?" I asked.
" Yeah?"
" but it's dark outside." I said with worry in my voice. He laughed.
" That's the fun part. come on, trust me."
We began walking Out and to his car.
Once we were driving after a while, I knew where he was going. I looked towards him as we parked.
" I love you." I said.
" I love you." He said in his deep, raspy voice. And for a moment, we were caught in eachother's gaze before we got out, and began walking up to hill to our bench.
