I Can't Help It
Chapter 20.
I sulked my way into class Friday morning feeling terrible about the night before. I probably shouldn't have been so harsh to Andy. He had no idea I was dating someone. He was just trying to ask me on a simple date.
I walked in and saw him in his usual seat, laughing about something to another kid on the football team. I set my stuff down and made my way to him.
" Hey." I said. His gaze hardened as he looked up.
" Hi." He said.
" look I talk to you later alright?" The guy said. Andy nodded and watched as he left to his seat.
" I'm sorry about yesterday." I said.
" Don't be. I understand." He reassured. I could tell in his voice he didn't like to be rejected. I looked into his blue eyes.
" No you don't."
" why?" He had a questioning look on his face.
" Uh- Nothing. Look, I guess I'm just scared of being in a relationship right now." I lied. I was already in one.
" Maria, it doesn't have to be a relationship. I just wanted to hang out. Nothing more." He said. I studied his face.
" Oh. Alright."
" So you want to see a movie? Tonight?" He asked. I hesitated. He said just as friends. Not a date. I sighed, and forced a smile on my face.
" Alright. "
The corner of his lips turned into a smile.
" Alright. Pick you up at seven." He flipped his pencil.
" Okay. Sounds good." I smiled. I heard someone loudly clear their throaght. I turned around and saw Harry sitting on the edge of his desk looking at us.
" Please take your seats."
I got up and walked over to my seat and sat by Sandy.
" Hey Maria." She whispered.
" Hey."
" You were talking to Andy?" She asked. I nodded.
" Yeah. We're doing the project still. Remember?" I asked. She looked me over, as if waiting for another answer, but gave up when I ignored her.
After school I shut my locker and traced my way down to Harry's room. I walked in and saw him doing paper work.
" Mr. Styles." I said. He looked up and smiled once he saw me. He stood up and made his way to me.
" Hello Ms. Summers." He put his hand on the small of my back and pecked my lips quickly.
" We're in school." I giggled. He smirked.
" I guess I just like living on the edge." He turned around and went back to his desk.
" What's up." He asked.
" Ah, nothing. You?"
" Grading papers."
" sounds fun."
" Not really." He said in his deep, raspy accent. It made me melt inside.
" I know." I joked. He sat there staring at me and laced his fingers together.
" What?" I giggled.
" I want to take you out on a date tonight." He smiled. I froze.
" You know, just like we used to."
what was I suppose to say? I was hanging out with Andy tonight.
" Harry I-I..."
" Can I not take my beautiful girlfriend out on a date?" He asked.
" Of course you can." I said.
" Then what's the problem?"
" Just not tonight."
" why?"
" H-Homework." I said. He didnt respond.
" Yep. It's piling up, and I'll be up all night if I want to get anything done." I said. He sighed.
" Alright."
" Tomorrow though?" I asked. I nodded.
" Sounds Good I guess. I pick you up tomorrow at 6:00." He smiled.
" Okay. Sounds good. Goodbye Harry." I said. I walked towards his desk. He stood up from his chair, making me run into his chest. I looked up at him and smiled. He kissed me, leaving the tasted of his lips linger on mine.
" Good bye Maria." He whispered, leaving light headed and dizzy. I turned around to leave when he caught my wrist.
" Love you."
" Love you too." I smiled. I then left, feeling guilty about tonight already.
