I Can't Help It
Chapter 12.
After dinner we all sat down in the living room, catching up on eachother's life's. Well, except for me. I just sat there awkwardly listening into conversations until Harry walked in from the kitchen, taking a seat by me. He fumbled with his hands before looking at me.
" Tell me everything." He whispered. I nodded, telling him what has happened. He understood now.
" Well, atleast I'll be here for the funeral with you." He smiled, rubbing the small of my back.
" Looks like Harry and Maria are getting along well."
Everyone stopped talking and brought their attention back to us. Harry's hand froze behind my back.
" She's a lovely person." He defended. I blushed. Louis winked and Harry rolled his eyes.
At the end of the day, everyone retreated to their rooms for bed. I was brushing my teeth when someone knocked on my door. I rinsed my toothbrush, and wiped my face with my towel.
" Coming." I made my way across the room.
" Harry." I said once I opened it. I noticed he had on nothing but sweatpants. He looked hot.
" May I?" He asked, gesturing towards the room. I snapped out of my trance.
" Yeah of course, come on in." I said. He walked in and looked around.
" Fancy."
" I know. Where's your room?" I asked.
" Down the hall. I'm sharing it with Louis."
" Oh. Yeah this house is huge."
He shook his head in agreement.
" So I came to talk to you about something." He sat at the edge of my bed.
" what is it?"
" Well, I was thinking. Maybe after the funeral tomorrow, instead of going back to England right away, we stay in a hotel for a night or two until Saturday. Then leave."
I gulped. He wanted me to stay the night with him?
" Just us?" I asked. He nodded.
" Not unless you aren't ready. I just figured, since we'll miss school on Friday no matter what, that we stay an extra night, and enjoy our time away."
I grinned.
" It's sounds fun. And I'd love to, you know, have some alone time while we're here. Where we don't have to keep it a secret." I smiled, walking up to him. He put his hands on my waist and pulled me foward so we were both lying on the bed. I rolled on top of him.
" Just say yes." He grinned. I giggled, wrapping my finger in one of his curls.
" Yes."
He had a happy grinone his face until I kissed him. He kissed back, our lips moving in sync until I bit his lip. He used that as a way to slip his tongue into my mouth. He rolled me over, so he was the one on top. He broke away, hovering over me. He started to kiss my neck. A soft moan escaped my lips as he found my sweet spot right under my ear. He smiled against my neck, and lightly bit it, leaving his mark. He pulled back, kissed me one last time, before walking to the door.
" Goodnight Maria."
" Goodnight Harry."
He then left, leaving me alone in my room. I smiled as I turned off the lights and climbed in under the duvet.
The next morning I hopped out of the shower and wrapped my hair in a towel before applying my makeup and laying out my black lace dress. It was such a beautiful dress, and it was perfect for this event. I dropped my bath robe and slipped on the dress, excited to meet my father for the first time. And my whole other side of the family. I let my hair down, and decided to just pin one side up, and leave it naturally curly. That way it looked pretty, and simple. I grabbed my clutch after putting on my heels and heading downstairs to see everyone in suits and Maura in a black dress.
" You ready dear?" She asked. I nodded.
" Yes."
" Well, let's go!" She yelled over everyone. Everybody headed out the door and down the path to the two Range Rovers.
" You look beautiful."
i jumped as someone whispered that in my ear. I turned to see Harry.
" Thank you. You look quite handsome too."
He grinned. We got into the back of the rover and headed on our way to the funeral.
We stepped inside the funeral home, about to walk in to the room with my father's casket.
" You ready?" Harry grabbed my hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze before letting go. I nodded.
" Yeah, I think so."
I braced myself as we walked down to the open casket. A tear rolled down my cheek as I saw my dad laying there, so lifeless. No one spoke. They were just quiet, saying goodbye. I wanted my own time with him. I was determined to get that. As everyone began to spread out and mingle with other guests that had just arrived, I took that as I opportunity. I took three long strides up to the casket.
" Hey dad." I whispered. I wiped a tear rolling down my cheek.
" It's nice to finally meet you." I quietly laughed, trying to cover up my tears. I watched him a bit longer before saying anything else.
" I promised myself that I wouldn't cry, But here I am." I wiped away the mascara that might be running.
" I don't even know what to say. I guess I should start with my name. I'm Maria. Your daughter. And I thought you were dead all my life, until a couple days ago, so this is all so new to me. Even though you were never there. Never around. I still feel like I can forgive you, you know? Like, you are still my father. I guess what I'm trying to say, is I love you dad. And it's a shame I never got to tell you before." I croaked, before wiping away the tears streaming down my face. I felt arms wrap around my waist. I knew exactly who's they were. I turned around and sobbed into Harry's chest.
" It's okay. I he loves you too. I just know it." He coed.
" Do you want to go sit down?" I said once I could talk again. He nodded grabbing my hand.
" C'mon, let's go."
we sat down in the long seats, waiting for the priest to begin talking. After that the day went by like a blurr.
After the funeral, it was late and everyone had to start heading home. The only flights that were going off to England anytime this week were overnight. Everyone stood at the door saying their goodbyes after they were done packing back up.
" Goodbye Love. It's was a great time meeting you." Liam said hugging me.
" You too Liam."
Next was Zayn.
" I had a great time, and it was an honor to meet Niall's long lost sister." He hugged me too.
" It was great for me too." I laughed.
" Ahh, Maria. You ma'am are quite the shy person. But I still love you." Louis said, embracing me in a bear hug. I choked at how hard he was squeezing me.
" My bad." He joked. I playfully hit his shoulder.
" It was so great meeting you for the first time, sis." Greg said as he hugged me too.
" It really was. I'm glad I finally met you."
he let go and Maura came up.
" Now, you take care Maria. I want you to ring me every once in a while, Kay?" she said hugging me.
" Oh I will. It was a lovely time. Thank you so much for inviting me to come." I said.
" Oh dear, you were one of the first people I thought about."
I warmly smiled at her. Last but not least was Niall.
" Oh Niall. I think I learned the most about you this whole time here over anyone."
He laughed his little laugh that I learned to love.
" Yes. Same for you. Your gonna be seeing alot more of me." He hugged me.
" I better!" I said. We all stood there when the taxi for Liam, Louis, and Zayn drove up.
"Well, goodbye! We'll see you all soon." They yelled as they got in. We waved.
" You ready?" Harry whispered in my ear. I nodded.
" I'm ready."
he grinned. Then the taxi he had called pulled up.
" Well. Goodbye guys. See you soon." Harry said as we got in. I waved bye, as did they.
" Where to?" The man asked. Harry pulled Something up on his phone. I had no idea where he was going to take me.
" Erm.. This hotel."
The driver put the adress in his GPS before pulling away from the curb and heading towards the hotel me and Harry were staying at.
" Tell me everything." He whispered. I nodded, telling him what has happened. He understood now.
