I Can't Help It
Chapter 11.
• Maria's pov •
As the plane landed, I grabbed my things and made my way off the plane. I was so tired I could barely walk. I left last night, the night my mom told me about it, so I could spend the day getting to know my family I've never met before the funeral. I made my way to luggage claim, grabbing my suitcase and heading towards the busy streets of Ireland. It was so beautiful here. I waved down a taxi and handed him the address I was supposed to go to in the envelope.
I leaned back in the car , looking out the window at the beautiful scenery. Ireland is probably one of the most beautiful countries ever.
We pulled infront of a nice house.
" This is it." He said. I pulled the money out of my wallet.
" Thank you."
I walked up the path, bracing myself before ringing the doorbell. I stood there a couple moments before it opened.
" How may I help you?" She asked. I gulped.
" I'm M-Maria Summers."
Her eyes widened.
" Maria!" She brought me in for a hug. I stood there stiffly for a secound, before hugging her.
" Sorry. I've just been so excited to meet you. I'm Maura." She shook my hand.
" Nice to meet you Maura." I warmly smiled.
" Come on in. There's a couple of people I want you to meet."
I nodded, walking in behind her.
" Greg, show your sister up to her room." She said. I watched as guy stood up.
" Hello, I'm Greg." He said taking my bags.
" Maria."
I followed him up to my room. He sat my bag down on my bed.
" Thanks."
" No problem."
I followed him back downstairs to be met by a blonde, blue eyed guy. He looked nothing like me. Greg did, but he didnt.
" Maria!" He said hugging me. He could tell at my hesitation that I was a bit confused.
" Oh, I'm Niall." He said. I chuckled. He pulled away and looked at me.
" You look so much like dad." He said. That wiped the smile right off my face.
" That's a good thing." He reasurred.
" I'm not sure." I trailed off. Maura came in from the kitchen.
" Oh, So I see you've already met them."
I nodded.
" Yes."
" Do you want to go out for a walk?" Niall asked me. I nodded. He headed towards te front door and I followed him out to the side walk.
" So, I guess we have alot of catching up to do." He said. I laughed.
" Yes."
" I hear your from England?"
" Yeah. South of London."
" Really? I've been living in Manchester. I have a friend that moved south down there." He shoved his hands in his pockets as we walked down the street.
" Oh wow. I didn't know we were in the same country."
" Yeah, me either."
We kept walking until we came across a small pub downtown. He opened the door for me as we walked in. We took a seat at the bar.
" A coke." I asked the bartender. I was in no mood to drink. Niall got the same thing.
" So tell me." I said, mixing my drink with my straw.
" Okay."
" What was my dad like?" I asked. Niall sighed and looked foward.
" He was a great dad. You know, he was always there. He was just a great person to be around. I'm sorry you could never meet him."
" Yeah, me too."
" I understand that he, left. But I think that he would have loved you so much if he ever met you."
I rested my head on my fist.
" I would like to think that."
" I already love you and I just met you." He laughed. I blushed.
" Thanks."
I turned around to examine the pub. Everyone was talking Irish to eachother, and smoking cigars. There was a man in the corner though, looking up at a TV. I could only see the back of his curly head. He looked alot like Harry.. The man turned around, facing foward in his seat. I sighed when I realized it wasn't him. Why would he be in Ireland in the first place? I should have told Harry I was leaving. He's probably teaching right now. I turned back around, learning alot about Niall and where he came from, and alot about my dad. Niall asked me questions, which I answered, until one stood out.
" So is there anyone special in your life?" He asked. I sipped my drink. How should I answer.
" I guess."
" you guess?"
I nodded.
" We're not official or anything."
Niall nodded.
" I'm single." He chuckled. That surprised me. He was a very handsome man.
" I guess we should start heading back. We've been out for a long time." Niall said. I nodded, walking out of the pub with him and back home.
We walked inside the house to hear people in the kitchen.
" Dinner must be done." Niall whispered. We walked into the kitchen and was met by a whole bunch of people that I had no idea who any were. I looked around at the people seated at the table and my heart stopped when I saw him sitting there. His eyes caught mine too.
" You guys are here!" Niall yelled, hugging everyone around the table.
" Who's this?" One with brown hair and blue eyes asked.
" This is my sister, Maria." Niall said pointing to me. I saw out of the corner of my eye, Harry choke on his drink.
" Nice to meet you Maria. I'm Louis." He smiled, putting out his hand.
" Hello love I'm Liam." Liam got up to shake my hand. By thing time everyone was out of their seats to introduce themselfs to me. A man with a thick layer of eyelashes around his eyes and neat hair approached me.
" I'm Zayn." He smiled. I noticed they all had British accents. The last one came up to me.
" I'm Harry." He shook my hand, with a right grip.
" What are you doing here?" I hissed between my clenched teeth.
" I could ask the same question." He snapped back, under his breath.
" dinners ready! " Maura came into the dining room with the main dish and everyone took their seat around the table. Harry sat directly infront of me. Everyone around the table ate, and made small talk, except for Harry and I. We just ate quietly.
" I must, Go to the loo." I said, trying to get out of this awkward dinner. Niall nodded.
" It's down the hall, to the right, an-"
" I'll take her."
I looked over to see Harry standing up. He walked around the table and out of the dining room as I followed. We made our way around the house to the bathroom.
" Okay, why are you here?" I hissed.
" I'm here for Bobby's funeral."
" You knew my father?" I asked.
" I guess so. I didn't know he was your father. Or the fact that Niall was your brother." His whisper was turning louder.
" Me either! Not until yesterday!" I snapped.
" Niall's my best mate. He invited me and the lads to be here with him."
" This Is just.."
" confusing." He finished for me. I nodded.
" I'll explain everything later." I said. He nodded, walking down the hall and back to the dinning room. I can't believe that just happened.
