Runaway
Chapter Two
After eating lunch I noticed a flyer for a job. Sure, a cashier wasn't great but it was better than nothing.
I grabbed the flyer and headed to the address. I glanced above the doors to see WALMART. I shrug, knowing once again that it's better than nothing...and it'll probably just be temporary.
I strolled in and asked the receptionist about the flyer. She nodded and asked me to wait as she went inside a door behind her.
She walked out with a man who gestured me to follow him inside.
He smiled and began the interview as I sat down. They were all simple questions such as if I could bag items.
Then he asked, "And what's your current living situation?"
I pondered quickly if I should lie or not. I figured I had nothing to lose.
"Actually, I don't have a home as I ran away two weeks ago. Which is why I really need this job."
He replied with a calm face, "I'm sorry, you didn't get the job."
I almost screamed, "What?! Why not?!"
His face remained blank, "You ran away from your home, that shows complete immaturity therefore your request for this job has been revoked."
I wanted jump over the table separating us and strangle him. Instead, I grabbed my bag and dashed out the door, slamming it behind me.
I walked furiously down the sidewalk muttering until someone bumped into me. Hard.
I clenched my nose (it felt like it was bleeding) and fell to the ground.
"What's wrong with you? Can't you see where you're going?!" I growled as I got up. But the second I saw the person, I froze. My mouth opened a bit and my eyes bulged. I continued to gape for what felt like hours until his deep voice spoke, "Sorry love, didn't see you there."
