Chapter 11
“Zoe! It was great of you to finally join us. What took so long?” Mr Cline said.
I followed Harry to the table. He pulled the chair beside him out for me and I sat down. Alek was across from me, sitting beside Carmen.
“I had an important phone call to take” I smiled politely
Mr.Cline looked genuinely worried, “Is everything okay?”
I nodded my head, “Perfectly fine”
He nodded his head and continued back to discussing business with Carmen's father.
Andrew brought a plate of food to me and leaned over to whisper into my ear, “Glad you came down, I was beginning to worry about you”
I smiled at him and he gently put a hand on my shoulder, comforting me, then he disappeared back into the kitchen.
After they talked awhile about future business plans, the table went quiet and Andrew brought out dessert.
“So how long have you been working for the Clines?” Mr. Weller asked me
“A few years” I replied
He took a sip of his drink “You just look so young, do you enjoy it?”
“Yeah it’s a great job, I love Alek”
Alek blushed at me and I smiled at him. From the corner of my eye I could see Harry smiling too.
“Zoe’s the best, she’s my favorite person in the world” Alek eagerly said to Mr.Weller
“What about me?” Mr.Cline said as he pretended to be hurt
Alek smiled “You’re my third, Harry’s second”
We all laughed but I could feel Carmen's eyes burning into my skin.
“Carmen loves little kids, I was thinking about adopting a younger brother or sister for her. Maybe you’d like to work for us as well?” Mr. Weller said to me
“That’s very kind of you-” I started but was soon cut off
“No she’s staying with us” Alek said nonchalantly. The longer I spent with this kid the more I loved him, how was that even possible?
“Father, I could take care of a younger sibling perfectly fine.” Carmen spoke up
“I’m sure you can sweety”
This was exactly why I wanted to avoid dinner. Awkward conversations weren’t something I looked forward too.
“We’re going to be flying down to Florida to sign some legal papers. You guys will be alone here for a while. I’m sure we can trust you all” Mr. Weller said as he looked at each on of us
Harry smiled “We’ll be fine”
After everyone finished dessert we each slowly excused ourselves from the table. I was the last person sitting at it when Andrew came over to clean up. I got up to help him.
Andrew took the plates from my hands “Darling it’s fine, you should go enjoy yourself. I always clean the table”
“I actually want to help. I have nothing better to do anyways.” I winked at him
We took the dirty dishes into the kitchen and started washing them. I wiped up the water on the counter and helped Andrew put the leftover food away. When we were completely finished I grabbed a soda and headed to the patio with him.
To our displeasure Carmen was just coming inside. She headed straight to me, "i dont know what your planning but let me tell you now that its not going to work. Harry will never like a peasant as yourself."
I looked at her with no emotion, i could care less about her whiney ways.
"Stay away from my boyfriend" she said as she pushed passed me
I turned to Andrew, "boyfriend?"
I knew she liked Harry, i mean she was being a bitch to me because of it, but she never called him her boyfriend until now.
Andrew gave me a sympathetic look as we sat out on the patio, "they're officially together. They made it official just before dinner started"
My eyes grew wide. I guess i could handle them being together, but he said they got together before dinner, which means before Harry came up to my room. He kissed me while in a relationship with her. I felt used.
I took a sip of my soda "What an ass"
Andrew nodded in agreement, "don't worry, karma has its ways"
I sure hope it did.

I checked my phone and it was 10pm. I spent the night just talking to Andrew. Every once in a while he was called by someone but we still managed to have full conversations. He was way too nice to work for the Weller's.
"I need to get some rest. I have to wake early to make them breakfast" Andrew said as we walked through the kitchen.
"Goodnight, ill see you tomorrow" i smiled
He turned the corner and waved "Sweet dreams Zoe"
I threw the empty can of soda away and decided it was best for me to get some rest as well. I wondered if Alek was in bed yet, it was late for him.
I walked through the hallway when i heard a loud smack. It sounded like it came from the living room. I quickly ran to it and gasped when i saw what was going on.
Alek was standing, cupping his cheek with his hand. Carmen was standing infront of him with her hand still held up threateningly. She looked mad.
"What the fuck?" I said as i walked over to the scene
Alek turned around, tears in his eyes. When he saw me he ran into my arms and i picked him up. His cheek was bright red. He let out a sob and hid his face into my neck. I looked over at Carmen and there was no guilt in her eyes. I can't believe she hit Alek.
"What the fuck is the matter with you?" I yelled as i covered Aleks ear. If i wasn't carrying him i would have beat the shit out of her.
"He wouldn't listen" carmen said
I was pissed. Every part of my voice soaked in anger "That doesn't give you the right to hit him." I said as i took a step closer to her, "listen and listen closely, i dont care about you or harry. Whatever you guys do is between you two, so go fuck him for all i care. But if you ever, and i mean EVER, even think about hurting Alek again, i will make your life a living hell. I will kill you, i will stab you repeatedly, i will make you beg for mercy. DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!!!!"
She didnt reply but the frightened look in her eyes was all i needed. I shoved past her and brought Alek up into our room. After locking the door I gently placed him down and examined his face. It didn't look like a bruise would form but it was definitely red. His lip quivered.
"Aww baby come here" i said as i brought him into another hug. He cried into my shoulder as i rubbed his back. Carmen took it too far tonight, this was my last straw.
