Summer Tour Romance
Chapter 1: Big News
Jenna's POV
I was sitting across from my manager, Drew in his office. He called me in today because he had something important to discuss with me. He just keeps smiling and won't tell me what it is, so fingers crossed it's something great!
But where are my manners? I'm Jenna Baker, 16 and a dancer. I've been dancing since kindergarten. I signed to Star Talent Management last year when I was 15, and was first spotted at a dance competition by a man named Drew Sparks, who is now my manager.
After a few more moments of silence, I couldn't take it anymore.
"Can you just tell me what's so exciting?!" I basically screamed.
"Well, two months ago I got a call from One Direction's Management team saying they were looking for backup dancers for the American part of their tour. So, I sent in you and a few other girls's tapes from some competitions and they've picked you as one of the dancers! YOU'RE GOING ON TOUR WITH ONE DIRECTION!!" Drew said excitedly, standing up from his desk to give me a hug.
I can't believe it. I AM ACTUALLY GOING ON TOUR WITH ONE DIRECTION. I've been a huge fan for 2 years now and absolutely find all 5 of them attractive. Harry and Niall are my 2 favorites though, but if I had to pick one I would pick Harry as my favorite. I had to sign a contract and Drew went over what I needed to get done before I left. I would fly to California Tomorrow night, and meet with the other 2 dancers and the choreographer, and Tuesday night began the shows. That means I would have Saturday, Sunday and Monday to learn everything I needed to. Great.
After packing all afternoon and finally convincing my parents to let me go, I went to sleep. But how could anyone sleep when they've been given the job of their dreams? I unlocked my iPhone to see that I had a text from my boyfriend, Danny. I realized then that I hadn't told him I was leaving tomorrow. I decided against calling him, and simply sent him this text:
I need you to meet me at the airport tomorrow afternoon at 3:00. Don't ask why; just meet me there, okay? Love you, goodnight.
After turning my phone off I turned off my light and tried to drift to sleep.
The next morning I got up early, showered, ate breakfast and continued packing for the tour. I had 4 huge suitcases filled and then a smaller carry-on Vera Bradley duffle bag as well. Around 2:30 my parents took me to the airport to get me there by three. I checked my bags and got my tickets at the Delta Airlines counter and said a very tearful goodbye to my Mom and Dad.
"I promise to call everyday and tell you what I've been up to, and I'll send you guy something! Plus you can come to the Raleigh show in a few weeks, so it won't be too bad! I promise. I love you guys, please do something nice for yourselves while I'm gone!" I said giving them both one last hug and kiss. They waved one last goodbye and watched me walk up the escalator to airport security. I went through security and stopped by Auntie Anne's Pretzel place. I ordered my pretzel and found my way to Gate 24A where my flight was taking off. It was 4:45 now and my plane was supposed to take off at 5:30. I pulled out my magazine and then my phone rang. It was Danny.
"Hello?" I asked.
"When we're you going to tell me about your little tour with One direction? I saw your parents when they were on their way out. How could you leave me like this? After all I've sacrificed for you? YOU'RE BEING SO SELFISH!" he cried into the phone.
"I'M NOT! This only happens once in your lifetime, so I'm going, no questions asked." I replied raising my voice.
"Jenna, if you get on that plane then we can't be together. No matter how much I love you." Danny said. It was that moment when my heart literally sank. We had been dating since Eighth grade and I was going to be a junior next year and him a senior.
"Danny you can't mean that!" I said with tears threatening to fall. "You can't." I whispered.
"I do. It's me or dance, you don't get to pick this time." Danny said obviously full of anger.
It was that moment when I realized what kind of person Danny was. And I realized what I wanted to do, and that was dance. I ended the call quickly and turned off my phone. If that didn't give him the message then I don't know what will.
"Flight 771 to Los Angeles, California is now boarding." A voice over the intercom said. I waited in line and boarded the plane in the first class seats Drew had managed to get for me.
About 20 minutes later, the plane began to takeoff. As soon as we were off the ground, all I could think about was how this was a new start for me this summer. A chance to become known in the dance world and now the media.
This was my new life. And Danny wasn't going to bring me down.
