Anything and Nothing
Juniper's POV
"Oh my god, Maiya, what do I wear??" I say, frantically shifting through my clothes as she sits on my bed chuckling.
"DON'T LAUGH THIS IS SERIOUS!" I say, grasping her shoulders. She just laughs harder and pushes my hands off.
"Relax!" She says, walking over to my wardrobe. "Niall will like you in anything! He's been in love with you for, like, ever!"
My eyebrows raise and I look at her surprised. "He has?" I ask.
She shakes her head and smiles. "My God, you are dimwitted, aren't you?" She says, causing me to scowl at her.
"Here just wear this," She says, tossing me my black jeans, my high heeled tennis shoes, white sweater with black lips on it, and, of course, my grey coat. I nod and slip the outfit on. I go into the bathroom and Maiya curls my hair and puts it in a messy ponytail. Then she puts some natural makeup on my pale face, topping the look off with red lipstick. I smile at my reflection. Maiya can work wonders with my head.
"You look gorgeous," She says, kissing my cheek and walking to my bedroom door. She opens it as I make my way over, grabbing my purse off my desk chair.
"Thanks, babe," I say back, winking, and walking out into the living room.
Niall's POV
"DON'T LAUGH THIS IS SERIOUS!" I hear Junie shout from down the hall, and I know there must be some sort of outfit crisis. She always said that to me when I helped her get ready for her dates back in secondary school. She goes into "everything-is-ugly-and-so-am-I" mode when she gets date-nervous. It's adorable.
I style my blonde hair up like always and take a last look in the mirror at my outfit. I'm wearing jeans, a white tshirt, black blazer, and my high-top converse.
I go to the living room to wait on Juniper. I feel my stomach get butterflies with anticipation of the night ahead. I can't believe she said yes. I was expecting a kind rejection and a suggestion that we remain friends, but she said yes. A smile creeps onto my lips thinking about how she kissed my hand and neck. My fingers instinctively glide over the spot on my neck where her lips had been at the club and I smile even wider.
I can't wait to take her where we're going tonight. I know she'll love it. I'm taking her on the dream date I'd heard her describe to me so many times when we used to lay out on my roof and look at the stars and talk about anything and nothing at the same time. I smile remembering those nights. Just me, Junie, and the stars. All else faded away, and all that mattered was each other and the endless night sky. Those nights were simply perfect.
My phone buzzes in my pocket and pull it out to check it as I sit on the couch. It's Junie's mom, who I have saved as "Mummy Maria" in my phone because she's like my second mother.
Mummy Maria: "Hey baby Ni Ni, It's Mummy Maria. June told me you're taking her on a date tonight. I'm so incredibly happy for you two. Your mother and I used to joke about you two falling in love someday;) I hope you both have fun. Take good care of my baby and give her a kiss for me. ~Love Forever and Always~ Mummy Maria"
I smile at the text and write a quick reply. Right as I hit send, I hear a small cough. I look up to see my beautiful date standing there, looking absolutely stunning.
My mouth drops a bit and she blushes, looking down at the ground. I make my way over to her and gently lift her chin so she's looking me in the eyes.
My breath hitches when her blue irises strike contact with mine, but I manage to say, "You're gorgeous, Juniper. Simply gorgeous."
She blushes and smiles. "And you look perfect, Charming. Simply perfect."
I smirk and she giggles. I take her hand and lead her out to the car, opening the door for her with a fake bow. She giggles and bows back before jumping into the passenger seat. I run around to the other side and hop in, starting the engine and the heater before we freeze to death.
"Here, put this on," I say, pulling out a blindfold and holding it out to her. She looks at me skeptically and I say, "Where we're going is a surprise, so stop being difficult when I'm trying to be romantic and put on the damn blindfold."
She laughs and ties the cloth around her head, shielding her eyes. I wave my hand in front of her face, testing it. She doesn't react. I put the car in drive and take off toward the date spot. It's dark and snow is falling. It's gorgeous and I'm about to comment on it, but I remember Junie has a blindfold on and she'll get upset if she knows she's missing out on such a beautiful snow scenery, so I stay silent. Instead I reach for her hand and wrap it in mine, entwining my fingers with hers. She squeezes back and I can see a small smile forming on her lips.
We pull up at our destination and I say, "We're here. Don't take off your blindfold. I'll come around and get you and guide you around. Okay?"
She nods and fake solutes, "Aye aye, Captain!" I shake my head and push her head lightly as she giggles. I hop out and run to open her door. I take her hand and she slides out of my car and onto the pavement. I take her right hand in my right hand and wrap my left arm around her waist. I start leading her to the dinner spot.
"Okay, Junie, you can take off your blindfold now," I say gently. She reaches up and starts to remove the blindfold. I wrap my arms around her waist from behind as he pulls the cloth down.
Her arms go over mine tightly as her breath hitches and she gasps. She squeaks and brings her hands over her mouth. I shift a bit so I can see her face. She has tears in her eyes. One falls and I reach up to wipe it away. I smile when she smiles at me.
