When You Let Your Heart Win
"Louis, take her up to your room and get her dry clothes." Mum whispered.
"C'mon, Bear." I said softly, grabbed her hands and walked backwards to my bedroom. Good thing I know this place like the back of my hand. "Bear?" I whispered as we got into my room and shut the door.
"Do-don't." She shook her head.
"You're scaring me, Bear." I pleaded hugging her again. "You never cry."
"No-not now, pl-please." She hiccupped into my shirt.
"Okay." I nodded grabbing her face so I could look at her. "Let's get you into dry clothes before you catch pneumonia." She answered with a small nod. God, wtf happened over at that house? "I'm not a pervert, but lift your arms?"
"Just admit it; you want to see me naked." She laughed slightly. It's a start.
"There's my Bear." I smiled as she lifted her arms up and I slowly slid her shirt up. "I... Uh, I don't have your suitcase up here, so are my clothes okay?"
"Yeah." She smiled, not looking me in the eye.
"Okay." I smiled, quickly got to my dresser for a t-shirt and grabbed a pair of sweat pants to go along with it to keep her warm. "Good luck keeping these up." I laughed.
"I'm sure I'll manage." She smiled grabbing the shirt and put it on quickly before removing her pants and... Shit that is not... Her underwear. Fuck. Oh and there goes her bra too. Fucccck. "Louis?"
"Hmm? Sorry, what?" I shook my head and focused on her.
"Can I just go to bed?" She asked in a whisper.
"Yeah!" I yelled slightly, moving over to my bed, pulled the covers back and let her slide in. "Do you want anything? Tea? Choco..."
"You." She cut me off looking me in the eye.
"What?" I don't think I heard that correctly.
"I just want my best friend right now." She whispered.
You don't have to tell me twice. I got to my feet, turned the main light off, leaving the one on my bedside table on, stripped my shirt off, jumped in beside her and pulled her against me.
"Jesus Bear, you're cold." I shivered at the touch of her skin.
"I walked five miles in the rain." She mumbled.
"You could of called me." I sighed kissing the top of her head.
"I had to get out of there, Lou." She whispered.
"Please tell me what happened." I begged.
"Apparently they think I'm a slag." She cried. "They saw pictures of me and Harry when we went go-karting the other day, then they saw pictures of me leaving the club drunk with Niall, and my arse was out." She huffed. "Remind me to kill Niall when we get back to London."
"They don't want anything to do with me." She sighed. "We were doing good. We were all happy, then the fucking reporters that follow you 24 fucking 7 ruin it."
"They told me after last time, if I slipped up, they want nothing to do with me, well I slipped up. Big time." She laughed. "I hate that I was raised by Bible thumpers."
"Bear?" I laughed slightly.
"I don't get it!" She yelled. "I went go-karting with Harry, that doesn't mean I'm fucking him!" That made me flinch. "Yeah I came out of a club drunk off my arse, but that doesn't mean I fucked Niall either! They should know me. After 20 fucking years, they should know me."
"Teddy?" I asked lifting her chin.
“They didn’t say anything about us having dinner last night, though.” She huffed.
"If they don't want you in their life, they're the idiots." I whispered looking her in the eye.
"They're my parents, Louis." She sobbed as tears started to fall again.
"Please don't cry." I begged laying my forehead onto hers.
"I lost my parents, Louis, how can I not?"
"Babe, please." I nudged my nose with hers.
"Louis?" She whispered. "Louis, look at me."
"Stop crying then." I whispered back.
"Then look at me." She said placing her hands into the side of my face and lifted my gaze to hers. Her usual light, grey eyes are now dark grey and red from all her crying, either way, she's still gorgeous.
"You're beautiful, you know that?" I smiled placing her chin between my thumb and pointer finger.
"Yeah." She laughed. "I've been told that quite a lot, really."
"Cocky, little shit." I smiled as she laughed a little harder. "There's my Bear." I smiled rubbing my thumb over her chin slowly.
"I'm always here." She whispered.
"You left from time to time." I smiled slightly.
"I'm always your Teddy Bear." She smiled scooting closer. "No matter what."
"No matter what?" I asked, still rubbing her chin.
"Always." She nodded. And I did it. I basically heard her say she'll always be my Teddy, no matter what I do, I just took the chance and kissed her. Yes I kissed her two nights ago, but this time I know for sure she'd remember.
"I've been wanting to do that for the longest time ever." I smiled leaning my forehead onto hers.
"Wh... Why are you now just doing that?" She whispered, eyes still closed.
"I did that two nights ago." I smiled.
"What?" She screeched, popping her eyes open.
"You don't remember it because you we're drunk, but..."
"Were we... Close... Sex?" She gasped covering her mouth as the last word slipped through her mouth.
"I stopped you when you went for my belt buckle." I smiled.
"Well... Uhm, that's a first."
"Dais, Phoebs, out!"
"But we want to play with Teddy."
"Come on you two, out."
"How is she?"
"Okay, I guess."
"Come out here, so we don't wake her?"
"I want to stay."
"Yeah." After that, Jay left quietly and Lou laid back down and pulled me into him. This is normal. Back in London, we'd always cuddle whenever either of us were upset, and let's face it. It was always me being the one cuddled. Lou puts up a wall whenever he gets hurt. But this felt different. Good and weird different.
"I know you're awake." He whispered as he stroked my cheek.
"No I'm not." I smiled.
"Yeah, sure." He laughed as I opened my eyes and looked up at him. "How are you?"
"I've been better." I shrugged. "Is that how you wake up here every morning?"
"Pretty much, yeah." He nodded with a big smile.
"You miss them."
"More than anything."
"You should come home more often then." I suggested.
"I come home as much as I can, Bear." He sighed.
"Try harder, Boo." I giggled poking his chest.
"Alright." He laughed rolling onto his back and stretched.
"Hm?" He hummed as he laid there, eyes closed. He's pretty.
"Can we talk about last night?" I whispered rolling on top of him, making his eyes snap open.
"How do you really feel about me?" I whispered.
"I love you." He whispered.
"More than a sister?"
"Ye-yeah." He nodded as I sighed and laid down on his chest. "Sorry."
“Morning, Poppet. Sorry for the girls barging in.” Jay apologized as I walked into the kitchen, Louis a step or two behind me.
“It’s fine.” I smiled slightly as I took a seat.
“Tea?” She smiled.
“That’d be lovely.”
“Mum, why is Daisy and Phoebe all excited?” Fizzy asked walking in the kitchen rubbing her eyes.
“Teddy’s here.” Lou replied placing his hands on my shoulders. Uh, this is going to be awkward.
“That’s a new record…” She smiled then looked at me. Still in Louis’ clothes, pretty sure I had red, puffy eyes. I bet I looked fabulous.
“Morning.” I waved. She didn’t answer, she just walked over to me and hugged me tightly.
God I love this family.
“Are we still going to the mall today?” She asked as she still hugged me.
“Fizz, not today…”
“It’s fine, Lou, we can still go.” I assured.
“Fizzy, go wake up Lottie and get ready for breakfast.” Jay ordered as she sat down in front of me.
“Okay.” She smiled looking at me. “Whatever happened, we’re here.”
“Thank you.” I whispered feeling like I was about to cry again.
“Fizz?” Lou growled. Not in a rude manner, just to get the point to leave me alone. His overprotective state sometimes gets to be too much.
“I’m going.” She smiled running off towards the bedrooms.
“You don’t have to tell me what happened, just know you always have a place stay whenever you’re here.” Jay smiled as Louis sat down closely beside me. He must know me too well, because here come the water works.
“They kicked me out.”
“Louis, you don’t have to come with us.”
“Bear, I want to.”
“Louis, I’m not a child.” I argued with him as Lottie and Fizzy waited for us outside while we fought in the car.
“Teddy, I’m here anyways.” He shrugged.
“You’re pissed at me because of last night and this morning, fine, but I’m not going home.” He interrupted me.
“Whatever.” I rolled my eyes and got out of the car, making sure I slammed the door.
“Are you two okay?” Fizz asked as I walked up to them.
“We’re just fine and dandy.” I smiled glancing at the two Tomlinson girls. Damnit, they read me just as well as their brother does. “It’ll pass.”
“Let’s shop.” I smiled walking towards the mall.
We held small talk as we walked in. Lottie caught me up with how her and Martin are doing and that he’s away on holiday at the moment, so she hasn’t seen him in a few days and that it’s hard to have a long conversation with him without being disturbed, but hey, that’s life for ya.
Fizzy talked about how she likes this boy down the street, much news to Louis, where he stuck his nose into our conversation and grilled her with information. All I could think about was ‘poor Martin.’ I bet he went through some shit to get Lou’s approval.
Now the thing going on between Louis and I, I don’t know where to even start. He’s still acting like the same Louis, he’s just more bodily contact-y now? Okay, he’s always been like that, and I’m just looking into it different now, but uh, I’m confused. I don’t even know how to explain what I feel towards that kid.
We shopped in all the main shops, the girls bought mainly whatever they wanted, all on big brother’s tab, while I got nothing. I just couldn’t let him pay for me. It just felt different. Of course he was urging me to get something, but I wasn’t interested. I just couldn't stomach the feeling with him paying.
As we were in Jack Willis, I was looking at hoddies and saw a really cute blue one I wanted, but of course, hot shot didn’t let me work, so I had no money to get it and I’m stubborn as hell and didn’t even bother asking Louis to get it.
Uh, I want to go home.
“Do you want that?” Lou asked behind me, nearly making me piss my pants.
“No.” I shook my head. “Just looking.”
“Teddy, just get something.” He sighed.
“I don’t want anything, Louis. Stop pushing.” I glared.
“Stop pushing, what?” He snapped. “Stop pushing you to get something or talk to me?”
“Stop it.” I whispered looking around to make sure Lottie or Fizzy weren’t listening.
“Teddy, just talk to me.” He sighed rubbing his face.
“I… I can’t.” I whispered and walked over to Lottie and Fizzy who were looking at perfume. “Find anything good?”
“They’re too strong.” Fizz replied with a disgusting look, as Lottie was just looking at me worriedly.
“What?” I laughed.
“What’s wrong with you and Louis?”
“Nothing.” I lied. I hate lying to them. I’m going to hell. The Tomlinson family is like perfect, you can’t lie to them without getting the feeling you’re going to hell.
“Teddy?” Why does every Tomlinson read me like an open book?
“He just wants to talk about stuff and I don’t want to talk about it now.” I sighed.
“He looks like he’s about to cry.” Fizz said looking over my shoulder with a slight frown.
“Talk to him soon, please?” Lottie begged.
“I will, I promise.”
“God damnit, Teddy, just talk to me!” Louis yelled.
So here we are. In his room. Arguing.
After dinner, I excused myself to be alone and think, but Louis just had to follow me. So again, here we are.
We’ve been at this for about an hour now.
I hate this.
“Louis, just drop it.” I begged.
“No!” He yelled. “Jus… just tell me something on how you are feeling.”
“Does it matter?” I shrugged.
“Yes!” He yelled making me flinch.
“To me it doesn’t.”
“Teddy, just how do you fucking…”
“Louis!” Oh saved by the mother. “That’s enough!”
“Mum, go away.” He growled.
“No.” She replied sternly. “Teddy, we’re about to sit down for a movie, come join us?”
“Mum, we’re talking.” Lou said grabbing my arm whenever I tried to walk by him.
“No, you’re yelling. You’re scaring the girls, now either go outside and ‘talk’ or let Teddy go.” God I love this woman.
“Teddy?” He whispered making me look at him. He was practically begging for me to talk to him.
“I’ll be down in a second?” I smiled at Jay.
“No fighting.” She pointed at both of us. “Next time it’ll be Dan and he won’t be as nice.”
“We won’t.” I nodded as she left, then turned back to Louis, who had moved over to the foot of his bed and sat down with his head in his hands.
Did I mention that I hate this?
Suck it up, Teddy. He’s your best friend.
“Lou?” I sighed walking over to him.
Nothing. No movement or anything.
“Don’t be an arse now.” I joked, making him look up. And he’s on the verge of tears. “Damnit, don’t do that.” I pouted sitting on his lap sideways and hugged the shit out of him.
“I fucked everything up, didn’t I?” He whispered hugging me back.
“No.” I whispered hugging him tighter. “I just don’t know how to answer you just yet.”
“Whatever it is, just always be my best friend.”
“Always.” I smiled kissing his neck. Probably a bad idea at a moment like this, but it wasn’t like it was in a sexual way.
After that, he relaxed, making me relax and feel like I was at home.
Maybe I do belong here.
