When You Let Your Heart Win
“Babe, before the girls come running in.”
“Don’t call me that.” I smiled scooting closer to him. That nickname always works in his favour. It’s a curse.
“Then can you please get up and get clothes on?” He whispered kissing the top of my shoulder.
“I’d rather sleep all day.” I shook my head.
“It’s either me being nice trying to get you out of bed or it’s Daisy and Phoebe.” He quit trying to be nice. “Remember how they were the last time you spent the night here?”
“They barged in. Loudly.” I snapped my eyes open.
“Exactly.” He laughed.
“But this bed is so comfortable. I’ll stay here.” I nodded and closed my eyes again as he growled.
“Baaaaabe!” He whined. “I really don’t want to explain to my little sisters why you’re not wearing any clothes.”
“Because I sleep naked.” I snorted. “There. Easy and done with.”
“I’ll take back your Christmas present.”
“I don’t care.” I shrugged rolling over onto my stomach.
“I can’t take it back anyways.” He sighed and thought of another threat. “I won’t touch you.” He whispered straddling my bum and started to kiss my back.
“Mhmm.” I hummed. “Like you could go a day without touching me.”
“Then I’ll be spontaneous and tease you around my family.” He continued to whisper as his kisses got lower and lower. “And if you wear a skirt or a dress today, you better keep your legs closed tight, because I’ll try and slide in.”
“Stop.” I moaned at the thought.
“Then get up, Teddy Bear.” He smirked against my bum then bit slightly, causing me to shriek slightly and flip over onto my back. “What’s the matter?”
“Stop.” I pleaded.
“Did I turn you on?” He smiled so evilly.
“No.” I answered quickly.
“Good.” He smirked and pecked my lips quickly. “Now since you’re awake and your blood is slightly boiled, get up and get dressed.”
“No.” I smiled pulling him back in for another kiss.
“Louis?” I giggled.
“Stop.” He laughed. Got him.
“Get clothes on.”
“Why not kiss me while I’m naked?” I smirked.
“Do you really want me to answer that question?” He asked leaning up on both his hands and looked down at me.
“I asked it didn’t I?” I replied biting my lip.
“Teddy.” He growled, got off the bed and dragged me down the bed.
“What are you doing?!” I squealed whenever he threw me over his shoulder.
“Taking a shower.”
“And I need to join you?” I giggled, then quickly lost it. “If anyone is awake right now and sees my arse, I’m killing you!”
“Nobody’s awake.” He laughed slapping my bum, causing me to squeal, but this time louder. “You’re always loud.”
“It’s not my fault you know how to make me scream.”
“Teddy, open Louis’.”
“Should I be scared?” I asked grabbing a rectangular box from Lottie.
“No.” She smiled. “You’ll love it.”
“And you have to read it all out loud.” Fizzy added.
“Alright…” I trailed as I started to unwrap the box. I’ll tell you right now, Louis did not wrap this. He probably had Harry or Perrie do it.
Anyways, as I got the wrapping paper off, I opened the box and found tissues. Really?
“You’ll need them.” Fizzy giggled. I must of gave a beautiful facial expression.
I picked up the tissues and laid them beside me, moved the colourful tissue paper out of the way and found a book.
“Just open it.”
“I don’t read, Louis.” I huffed.
“Teddy Nichole Parker, just open it.”
Well I did. As I flipped through the first page, it was blank, like any other book, then came the dedication, “To my Teddy Bear.” I smiled looking over at him. “You wrote me a book?”
“Just keep flipping.” He smiled.
“A song(s) that reminds me of you:” I read aloud. “There Goes My Babyby Usher and Maybe Next May by Secrets.” I smiled. “You listened to Secrets?”
“You play them whenever you’re mad, so they got catchy.” He smiled. “You don’t have to read the lyrics aloud, I’m sure you already know them by heart.”
“What’s Maybe Next May?” Daisy asked from her spot on Dan’s lap.
“I’ll play it for you later.” I smiled flipping the page. “My favourite facial expression you make: flaring your nose in your sleep. You do it practically every night.” I laughed. “Creep.”
“I think it’s sweet.” Jay laughed. “Next page!”
“Did you know he did this?”
“Doesn’t matter.” She smiled. “Next.”
“The nickname I love to call you: Teddy Bear. I and only I can call you that. Whoever else does, I’ll kill them.” I giggled as I read that aloud. It’s true though. He’d kill the person in an instant. “Since I’ve met you, I’ve stopped: guessing… who’d steal my heart.” I bit back a smile. I have the cutest boyfriend ever.
“Awww.” Lottie giggled and moved over to me. “Keep going.”
“A bumper sticker that describes you: Founder of the National Sarcasm Society. Hahaha!” I laughed. “That’s brilliant.”
“Keep going.” Lou pushed.
“My favourite holiday to spend with you: Christmas and New Year’s because you always decorate the house and make it so much warmer whenever you [try to] bake cookies. I love the ‘try too,’ babe. Very nice.” I giggled.
“Thanks. Next.” He’s so pushy.
“It is so much fun to watch you: complete something you’ve been working on for so long. Example: completing a level on Candy Crush Saga. That little dance and/or fist pump you do after a level you claim you’d never beat, always makes my day.”
“Don’t you even dare say you don’t do that!” Jay got out before I could make a comment. This family knows me all too well.
“I wasn’t going to do no such thing.” I smiled flipping the page. “The first time I really knew your were for me: The second Mr. Grubbs regretted sitting you beside me in Maths because we would never listen to him. Great minds think alike. I wonder if he still hates us.”
“Most likely.” Lou laughed. “We’re kind of hard to forget.”
“Just you.” I shook my head. “You’re in the worldwide known band.”
“I admire how you have overcome: Everything that has happened this past summer. You are the strongest and bravest person I have ever met and that just makes me love you more and more.” I started off in a normal tone and ended in a whisper. Have I ever said I have an amazing boyfriend? Well I do. “You seem the happiest when: Not to sound conceited, but whenever you’re with me and only me. You tend to smile the brightest whenever it’s just you and me. It’s my favourite smile of yours. Because I am.” I smiled wiping my face. Now I understand why there were tissues on top. “If I was stranded on a deserted island alone for a couple of days, I would pack: You. And maybe a ‘How to Survive on a Deserted Island’ guide. God knows we'd severely need it. I would be the last person you’d want on a deserted island.” I giggled.
“Nope.” He shook his head. “I’d just want you.”
“And a survival guide.” Phoebe laughed.
“Yes. That one is a must.” He nodded in agreement then moved back to me. “Next page?”
“Something I wish I told you more often: How much I appreciate you for sticking around and by me. After everything that has been thrown at us since we’ve gotten together, you never thought about packing your things and leaving me. You are truly the best thing that has ever walked into my life and I’d do anything to keep you here.”
“I appreciate you for that too, Teddy.” Jay said making me look over at her. She was in tears too. “Any other girl would leave the second she found out her boyfriend is fathering someone else’s child. Thank you for not being one of those girls and making me travel down to London to make sure he takes care of himself.”
“The people that leave don’t truly love the other.” I shrugged flipping the page. “Your most impressive talent is: You never cease to amaze me. Everyday it’s something different, whether it’s with how you handle a situation or if it’s how you tend to look like you just stepped off the runway whenever you, finally, roll out of bed. Ha! Finally. Cute touch.” I giggled.
“Almost done.” He nudged shoulders with me. “Hurry up, I want you to see your next present.”
“But I only got you one more.” I frowned looking at him.
“I got enough to last me a lifetime.” He smiled as I blushed. “Next page.”
“When we were first getting to know each other, I tried to impress you by: My terrible acting skills back whenever I joined the school’s play. But I did play a mad Danny Zuko, so it turned out good, or so I’d like to think. No you didn’t!” I laughed.
“Believe me or not, but I swear I did!”
“Jay, tell me he’s lying.” I begged her.
“He said he was doing it for someone special.” She shrugged. “I thought he meant Hannah, but looking back, everything back then was always about you.”
“He’s like a stalker.” Lottie blabbed.
“Thanks. Love you too.” Lou nodded over at his sister.
“Anytime.” She smirked then turned to me. “Anymore annoyingly cute confessions from my annoying big brother?”
“Just the last page.” Lou laughed flipping the page for me.
“I could go on and on, but if I’m correct, you’re ready to bawl your eyes out, so I’m going to stop. But just know, no matter what, I’ll never stop loving you. Ever. Merry Christmas, Bear. xxx Louis.” I can’t wipe this stupid smile off my face. “This is the best Christmas present ever.”
“I bet.” He laughed and handed me a small envelope.
“What’s this?” I asked grabbing it.
“Our holiday.” He smiled.
“Oh!” I squeaked and opened it quickly. “Ah!”
“Where are you going?!” Daisy jumped excitedly.
“Song Saa Private Island in Cambodia!” I squealed looking over at Louis. “Really?!”
“I know you said you always wanted to go, so surprise.” He laughed.
“Yay!” I giggled looking at our plane tickets, then realisation hit.
“My present sucks now.” I pouted.
“I doubt that.” He laughed. “Where is it?”
“Let me go burn it.” I nodded jumping up.
“Bear, no.” He laughed grabbing my waist and keeping me beside him on the couch.
“Why couldn’t you of let me go first?” I pouted.
“Get over it.” He laughed. “Give me.”
“It’s so stupid.” I mumbled handing him a similar box like his gift, but in a square form and bigger to fit a scrapbook.
“I doubt that.” He smiled opening it and flipping through the pages and laughed.
“I know it’s horrible, so knock it off.” I huffed and pushed him.
“Babe, it’s not horrible.” He laughed. “This is our first picture together.”
“Yeah.” I nodded leaning on his shoulder and watched him flip through the pages of our friendship turned relationship.
“Hahah!” He laughed pointing at a photo of us one Halloween. “I still can’t believe you went as Tulisa.”
“I love Tulisa!” I yelled smacking his shoulder. “Nothing is wrong with dressing up as Tulisa.”
“The tattoos made you look…”
“Not with the girls in the room!” Jay cut him off.
“I wasn’t going to say anything innappropriate.” He smiled looking down at me. “You should get one.”
“Yeah okay.” I snorted pointing back to his present. “Go back to this shit I decided to get you.”
“Hey, I like this.” He tried to convince me. “I don’t know how you had the time to do this.”
“Yeah, how did you have time to do this?” Jay asked. “You two have been connected by the hip since everything has happened.”
“I got it done whenever the boys went to Austraila.” I smiled slightly then Louis flipped the page in the scrapbook and I smiled an actual smile. “I miss that day.”
“I miss that night.” It was a picture of us and the girls at Yorkshire’s Wildlife Park.
“What happened that night?” Fizzy asked.
“If I think how this is going to go, don’t.” Jay answered.
“It’s nothing bad, mum.” Lie. “That’s just the night Bear told me she loved me. Her exact words were, ‘We’re no longer best friends, because best friends don’t love one another like how much I love you.’”
