When You Let Your Heart Win

Chapter 45

“Can you all go get into fresh clothes? We have guests coming.”
“Who?” Lou asked looking at his mother as the girls and I jogged up the stairs.
“Jenny and Caleb are coming.” And that made me stop and back track down the stairs.
“I’m sorry, Teddy.” She apologised. “I saw them at the market today and whenever I said you were coming down with Louis, they pretty much invited themselves.”
“You could of said no.” I unconditionally spat at her.
“I know, Poppet and I’m sorry, but I’m not the person to say no to someone.”
“Bear, this might be good.” Lou shrugged walking up the stairs to me.
“How is God’s name will this be good?” I looked at him.
“You need to talk to them.”
“Why are you pushing me to talk to them?” I growled. “They kicked me out because they thought I was fucking Niall, Harry and you, let alone all of London.”
“Then tell them the truth. That the press make stuff up for money.”
“You don’t think I haven’t told them that?” I snorted. “I was telling them that while they were picking up my suitcase and pushing me out the front door.”
“Maybe I should just cancel…” Jay whispered.
“No.” Louis looked at her then back at me. “Just try. Bear, someday down the line you’ll regret not listening to what they have to say.”
“When?” I laughed.
“How about when you get married?” He asked and I broke a little on the inside. “If you don’t talk to them and maybe make up with them, who’s going to walk you down the aisle?”
“I don’t care.” I shook my head.
“Alright, how about when you’re in the hospital ready to have your first baby?”
“Why are you saying ‘you’ and not ‘we?’” I ignored him.
“Because this isn’t about us, this is about you.” He smiled. “Just sit down and talk to them. I’m not saying chop your head off. Just a conversation over dinner. That’s it. If you want to go out the second we’re done with dinner, fine. We’ll go drive down the street nonstop until they do leave.”
“I knew I raised my boy right.” Jay smiled walking back towards the kitchen.
“She’s right though.” He smiled. “She did raise me right.”
“I get it. You have the perfect mum.” I rolled my eyes at him and turned around to walk to his room and get changed. “I’m not wearing anything fancy.”
“I didn’t say you had too.” He laughed wrapping his arms around me from behind and kissed my cheek. “I’ll be right beside you.”
“I’m just thinking that this could go wrong in all the ways it possibly could go.” I sighed.
“And I’m thinking that this could go perfect in all the ways it possibly could go.” He whispered. “Like I said, we can leave the second dinner is over.”
“You better count on that because I know for a fact I will be ready to run out the front door the second they step foot into this house.
“Promise me you’ll try to hear what they have to say?” He smiled as I lifted my snowy shirt off of me.
“I pro…”
“Caleb, Jenny, come in.” I stopped talking whenever I heard Jay at the door.
“I can’t do this.” I shook my head and threw my shirt on the floor. “I’ll stay right here.”
“If they want to talk, they can talk from the other side of that door.” I kept going, making him put his hands on both sides of my face so I would look at him.
“Stop.” He whispered. “It’s just dinner and a conversation.”
“How do you always make me feel like everything’s going to be okay?” I mumbled losing my ‘I hate them, I don’t want anything to do with them’ posture.
“Because either way, everything will be okay.” He smiled leaning down and kissed me softly. “Now, get dressed.”
“Why?” I smirked. “Don’t like what I’m wearing?”
“Don’t tease me, Teddy.” He shook his head and moved across the room to get clothes for himself. “Not now, please.”
“But it’s fun.” I pouted.
“For who?” He snorted.
“Me!” I sang slipping out of my jeans and jumped onto the bed. “You’re fun to tease.”
“Teddy, stop.” He warned pulling on my arm so I ended up being on my knees and level with him. “Get dressed.”
“I don’t wanna.” I giggled wrapping my arms around his neck.
“Bear?” He bit his lip and my lower half cringed. He’s such a babe.
“They won’t notice us not being there.” I grinned. Like actually grinned. I’m trying so bad to get out of this.
“They’re here because of you, so I do think they would notice.” He laughed finally placing his hands on my waist. “You’re freezing, get dressed.”
“Why don’t you warm me up?” I smirked.
“Teddy! Louis! Get down here!”
“See!” He whispered/yelled at me.
“Why are you whispering?” I giggled falling back onto the bed.
“One second!” He yelled then grabbed my foot. “C’mon, let’s go.”
“You want me to go down like this?” I motioned down to my very skimpy outfit.
“Yes.” He nodded.
“I actually can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not.” I giggled getting up and prancing over towards my suitcase.
“Please don’t wreck my room.” He whined as I opened it and started to pull stuff out.
“Stop watching me and get dressed.” I giggled. I don’t need to turn around to know he is watching my every mood.
“Why are you pulling out underwear?” You could hear him gulp. What a cutie.
“Because the ones I have on are wet.” I replied looking back at him and his mouth dropped. “From the snow, you pervert.”
“Oh.” He nervously laughed and turned around to get dressed quickly.
“I’m coming!” He yelled back. “Jesus, can’t people get changed?”
“You are taking forever.” I shrugged braiding my hair.
“And look at you.” He snorted nodding his head towards me. “You’re still in your knickers.”
“I’m doing my hair.” I replied in a ‘duh’ tone.
“Whatever.” He smiled walking to the door. “Hurry up.”
“Don’t make me walk down there by myself!” I squealed.
“Then you got two seconds to get dressed.” He pretended to look at his watch. He doesn’t wear a watch. He’s stupid.
“Do you want me to walk down there in this?” I raised my eyebrows at him.
“Since my sisters and mum are down there, let alone yourparents, no.” He shook his head.
“Then wait for me.” I smiled, then smiled wider as he walked over to his bed and sat down.
He’s such a good boyfriend.
“So how have you been, hun?” ‘Hun’ really? since when does she call me hun?
“Good.” I nodded.
“Don’t lie, Teddy.” My father warned.
“I’m not.” I looked at him like he went mad.
“Your boyfriend is going to be a father to someone who’s not you.” He pretty much laughed in my face. “You’re not ‘good.’”
“I’m dealing with it.” I glared at him. “Can we talk about something else?”
“See, you’re not okay with it.” This time he actually laughed. “You can’t even talk about it without getting angry.”
“Because you’re acting like it’s the end of the world.” I spat at him. “Plus, this isn’t the time to talk about that.” I motioned to the girls.
“Why can’t we talk about it in front of them?”
“Caleb, that’s enough.” My mum scolded him as I glanced around the table. Everyone looks awkward and Louis looks broken. Good going dad.
“So Louis?”
“Yes?” Lou jumped some and looked over to him.
“Are you going to marry Eleanor?”
“It’s just a question, Teddy.” He waved off. “Are you?”
“El and I broke up for a reason, sir.” Lou cleared his throat and answered my dad.
“And that reason is because you cheated on her with my daughter, correct?”
“Caleb, let’s save this for later, shall we?” Dan tried to stop him.
But it didn’t.
“Are you going to marry Eleanor, son?”
“I don’t want to marry Eleanor.” Lou shook his head and I pretty much crawled into a ball because this is going down in front of Jay, Dan and the girls. As much as I like the fact he doesn’t want to marry El, it’s still highly embarrassing.
“Why don’t you want to marry her?”
“Because I’m dating your daughter.” He replied. “Why would I want to marry anyone other than her?”
“Why would you want to have a child out of wedlock, let alone not be with the mother?” This can’t be happening.
“Are you saying I won’t take care of my responsibility?”
“I don’t know, will you?”
“Dad, please stop.” I begged bringing his attention to me.
“I just want to know why he won’t marry the girl he once loved and will be the mother of his… do you know the sex of the baby?” He stopped and looked back to Louis.
“It’s a girl.” He sighed rubbing his face.
“Right, so why won’t you marry the mother of your little girl?”
“I don’t want to marry El! I want to marry Teddy!” And he los… what did he just say?
“What?!” Pretty much the whole room screamed and looked at him.
“I want to marry your daughter.” He said in a softer tone.
“Now, Caleb, let him speak and hear him out.” Jay spoke up.
“No, I will not! He’s probably just saying this because he knows he messed up and got Eleanor pregnant and wants my daughter to think he really loves her!”
“Girls, go to your room, please?” Dan whispered.
“But I do!”
“Then you can wait for a couple more years.”
“Dad…” I whispered.
“No, Teddy, you don’t deserve to be treated like this. You don’t deserve to be put second to someone because he’s been lousy with protection.” He spat.
“And what do I deserve?” I laughed.
“Someone who was raised correctly.” He nodded towards Jay.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” I growled.
“She was just a teen whenever Louis was born, she was naive and kept him because she wanted love.”
“Excuse me?” Louis scoffed and I held a hand up.
“Have you noticed that all of her children were raised as perfect human beings?” I asked. “None of them are into drugs or in any problems with the law. I don’t see how that’s not ‘being raised correctly.’”
“But her beloved son got his ex-girlfriend pregnant, Teddy. You don’t deserve that.”
“And I deserve to be in a house with ignorant people like you?” I growled.
“See? That right there is why I rather you to move back home. Too much has happened to you in the past few months and I’ve had enough of it. You’ve changed dramatically. Hearing you got assaulted from the damned telly and not my own daughter is another thing! That makes me even more furious.”
“You kicked me out! You never picked up the phone until today to ‘try to fix things.’” I yelled getting to my feet. “Why should I tell you about anything that has or will happen in my life?”
“Bear?” Lou grabbed my hand, but I shook it off.
“No.” I growled. “You gave up your right whenever you threw me out because you believed in rumours that I shagged everything and anything. You raised me, you should know I’m not like that. If Louis wants to propose to me, he can. You never know, we could have a long engagement or we could get married the next day. Whatever it is it’ll be between me and him. Not you.”
“Teddy, calm down.” Jay whispered.
“Then you attack Jay because of this?!” I yelled at them whenever Jay spoke up. “Just because Louis got his ex pregnant, while they were dating, doesn’t mean she’s a bad mother. She’s a fantastic mother. I honestly rather her be my mother because she doesn’t criticize everything I do!”
“That’s hurtful, Teddy.” My mum whispered.
“It’s how I feel.” I shrugged and moved behind my chair. “She was there for me whenever you weren’t. Why would I consider you my parents?”
“I’m going upstairs.” I cut Louis off again. “I had enough food, let alone this conversation. I’ll be upstairs.”
And with that, I walked away and towards the staircase. I can’t believe this night turned into such a shit night. And to think my own parents grilled not only Louis, but Jay too about parenting. It’s discussing. They’re no better.
Even after I was locked away into Louis’ bedroom, I still didn’t feel right. If they are still in the house, I won’t feel right. I hate that feeling. I’ve had enough of that feeling.

“@TeddyNichole: I have never hated being in London and Doncaster at the same time. I can’t wait for this holiday”

“What?” I mumbled.
“Are you okay?” He asked crawling in behind me and pulled me against him.
“Peachy.” I nodded.
“Babe, you can tell me anything.”
“You really want to marry me?” I whispered dropping my phone and listened closely for his answer.
“More than anything.” He smiled against my skin from where my top slid from my shoulder.
“Even if I asked you to take me to Vegas right now?”
“We wouldn’t have to go to Vegas.” He laughed turning me around. “I would take you to the closest Courthouse right now if you’d let me.”
“If I let you?” I asked with a smile.
“Yes.” He smiled lifting my gaze up to his. “You won’t let me take you to a Courthouse now.”
“You don’t know that.”
“Alright I don’t want to be married in a Courthouse, but it’s nice to know that you’d marry me at any second.”
“I kinda love you, you nut.”

I even recommended it to many of my friends and a few of them don't even like 1D but they absolutely love the story :) And call me a very hopeful optimist but there is a big part of me that believes we will have either one more tour or another album in a few years' time. But until then, this story holds me together

I'm trying to. I promise. I just changed everything around and got a new and better PC, so I'm hoping. I'm still in love with this story and Louis (even if he's back with Eleanor). I've been rereading this lately and it's such a good story line and I want to finish it for people that are still around, but I feel like I lost a lot and with them not even being a band anymore, but I promise I'm trying. hopefully around next week I'll sit my ass down and get to work.
But thank you for still being here. you're the fricken best.
