When You Let Your Heart Win
"What about Carmen?"
"What about Madeline?"
Eleanor and Louis are trying to pick a name for their bundle of joy. They've been at this for hours now. Well actually it's been like this for the past two weeks. It's either Lou coming up with a name and El not liking it or vise versa. It's aggravating.
"What about Shayla?" El looked up from a baby book she was holding.
"S-h-a-y-l-a?" Louis spelled out.
"Yeah." She nodded.
"It's cute." He shrugged as I rolled my eyes and continued to mess around on Twitter. "Teddy, what do you think?" He asked looking over at me as he drew shapes onto my shin.
"Why does my opinion matter?" I asked looking at him, then over to Eleanor. "It's not my kid."
"Teddy?" He sighed.
"Shayla is cute." I gave up. "Shayla Tomlinson. It has a nice ring to it."
"Actually..." Eleanor trailed. "I was planning on giving her my last name. Since... we're uhm, not together."
"Shayla Calder." I rolled my eyes and went back to Twitter surfing. "It's nice too."
"Are you okay with that?" El asked Louis.
"Yeah, Shayla's nice. I really like it." He nodded.
"I meant with her having my last name?"
"It's up to you." He answered. "I completely understand why you want her to have your name."
"Do you want to choose her middle name?" She whispered.
"What about your middle name?" He suggested.
"Shayla Jane Calder." She said to herself. "Shayla Jane." She said again and ended with a giggle. "I like it."
"Then it's settled." I don't need to look up to know he's smiling.
"@TeddyNichole: awesome thing about not being under a contract, I get to say whatever I want: Modest! I hate you"
"Bathroom!" I called out as I sat on the edge of the tub and dribbled bath soap into the steamy water.
"Do yo... taking a bubble bath?" He stopped and smiled.
"It's a cold, miserable day, so I thought I could use a nice, relaxing bubble bath." I smiled placing the soap on the side of the tub then looked up at him. "What's up?"
"I wanted to have a movie night with you, but I now want that to be a nice, relaxing bubble bath night." He smiled grabbing my hands and standing me up.
"Where's El?" I asked looking out towards the door.
"Lani just got her." He smiled untying my bath robe. "Can I join you?"
"Sure." I shrugged letting him slip my robe off before I stepped into the bath. Just having an ankle in, I'm already relaxed.
"Don't you dare sit back." He warned making me look at him as he stripped.
"Hurry up." I giggled watching his sweats fall to the floor and to see him not wearing any underwear, it made me giggle some more.
"Like what you see?" He smirked walking towards me and stepped in.
"Maybe." I shrugged and sighed whenever he pulled me in close and his lips kissed my shoulder blade. "I missed this." I smiled.
"Me jumping in on your meant to be relaxation time?" He laughed leaning us back.
"No." I giggled. "Being able to be loving with you."
"What was wrong with last night?"
"Eleanor was in the house." I reminded him.
"So?" He grumbled. "We had a nice dinner."
"She was still here." I whispered. "Her being here ruins all of my moods."
"You let me go down on you at four in the morning, so I wouldn't say that." He whispered huskily in my ear.
"That's different. I knew she was sleeping and wouldn't hear us." I blushed sitting up.
"I wouldn't be surprised if you woke her up." He laughed adjusting some and started to massage my back.
"I'm not that loud." I blushed again.
"Babe, I will record you and you'll hear how loud you actually are." He laughed.
"Whatever." I grumbled.
The next five or so minutes were silent. He kept massaging my back, working out the kinks and occasionally kissing my shoulder or back. It doesn't take a genius to know he’s actually saying sorry with how he’s massaging my back. And maybe he’s trying to get it in.
Ever since Eleanor got here, our sex life has slowed down. Majorly. It sucks, but it's my fault. I think it's rude for someone, doesn't matter if I like the person or not, to be in the room next to yours while you have sex. Let alone possibly hear your ex have sex with someone else.
I'm nice when I want to be.
"Hmm?" I hummed.
“Ignoring me, I see.” He laughed quietly.
“Sorry.” I apologised. “Your hands are distracting me.”
"It's fine." He assured and kissed my shoulder. “When are we setting up the tree?”
“Shit.” I gasped.
“We haven’t set up our Christmas tree yet.”
“We’ve had other things on our mind.” He sighed sliding his hands into the water and pulled me back against him again.
“It’s like two weeks til Christmas.” I will not get over this.
“Mhmm.” He hummed as he laid us back and traced a finger around my belly button.
“We’re horrible people.” I huffed. “I haven’t even started my Christmas shopping.”
“It’s fine.” He assured. “Like I said, we’ve had other things on our minds.”
“When we get out, we’re getting a tree.”
“Babe, it’s almost eight.”
“So?” I asked sitting up again, turned around and leaned up against the opposite side of the tub.
“We don’t have a tree.” He reminded me. “We always get a real tree.”
“Dammit.” I pouted popping bubbles.
“I’ll go get one.” He sighed and made me smile.
“Do you prefer any type of tree?” He asked grabbing my foot and started to massage it. He’s perfect.
“A fat, tall pine tree will do just fine.” I giggled.
“I’ll take it, I hit a good spot.” He smirked and massaged the same spot and I jerked my foot away. “Yep.”
“Don’t start.” I growled at him.
“I wasn’t aiming to tickle you, but since I did, I sorta want to again.” He smiled evilly as he sat up and grabbed my foot again.
“Please don’t.” I begged.
“Fine.” He smiled, then it slowly faded away. “Why’d you move over there?”
“Why’d you turn around and move over there?”
“I don’t know.” I shrugged. “I’d rather sit here?”
“Are we okay?” He asked with a small frown. “You said earlier that you missed us being all loving and that scares me. Are we okay?”
“If she wasn’t here we’d be perfect.” I whispered and he frowned some more. “But yes, we’re okay.”
“I swear she won’t be here long.” He spoke quickly. “Her and Lani are looking at flats. That’s where they went.”
“Oh thank God.” I smiled sliding into the water some more.
“So…” He trailed, which made me look at him. “Even though El’s here and I got her… pregnant, we’re okay?”
“Yes.” I smiled placing my feet on the top of his thighs and slid them up to his chest and wiggled my toes in his face, sorta, playfully. “We are a-okay.”
“It looks good, babe."
"I just brought the tree in. You did everything else."
"But you picked the tree." I giggled sipping some wine as we laid on the couch and looked at our lovely living room that is now completely ready for Christmas morning. "Now we just need presents under the tree."
"I can fix that." He jumped up quickly, not even moving me, and ran towards our bedroom.
"You bought presents already?" I called out.
"Don't act too surprise, babe." He laughed walking back in with small boxes on top of a big box.
"Who's that for?" I smiled.
"Which one?" He smiled back.
"The big one." I sang.
"Oh." He laughed nervously. "It's uh, it's for El."
"Oh." I frowned then glared at him. "You bought a big present for your ex?"
"It's not really for her." He explained and quickly placed the presents he had in his hands down and kneeled down in front of me. "It's for Shay."
"Oh." I slumped and looked down at my wine.
"Everything that has El's name on it from me is for Shay."
"I better get a lot of presents then." I pouted.
"Don't you always?" He smiled.
"Yeah." I smiled placing my wine glass on the floor. "Sorry I snapped."
"I like when you're jealous." He smirked pulling me to the edge of the couch.
"I'm not jealous." I huffed pushing at him.
"Stop telling yourself you're not, because you are." He smiled.
"Why would I be jealous of a girl who's 21 with no job, no education and the father of her baby is with someone else?" I laughed and sat back.
"Doesn't matter if she has no job or has no education, she's having my baby." He smiled crawling up me. "That's what you're jealous of."
"Would you be jealous if I got pregnant by an ex?" I pouted.
"I'd kill the bloke." He nodded and made me laugh. "I will say this everyday for the rest of my life, if I have to; I'm sorry."
"I think she's the one who needs to apologise." I sighed looking at the time. "Where is she anyways?"
"Does it matter?" He smiled.
"Not really." I smiled. "It's nice to have this place to ourselves again."
"Instead of putting up the tree, I should've taken you to bed." He groaned because he knows very well she'll be walking through the door at any second.
"Hey, you said she was looking at flats with Lani." I tried to lighten his mood. "Maybe they got lucky."
"I hope they did so I can start getting lucky again."
"New Year's, let's go somewhere." I smiled sitting up, which made him return to crouching in front of me.
"Like a holiday?" He smiled.
"Yeah." I nodded. "God knows I need it and so do you."
"Or do you mean we need it?" He frowned.
"Maybe that too." I shrugged.
"I'll start looking up places." He jumped to his feet quickly and walked out of the room only to come back with his laptop.
"Why don't I have to beg you?" I smiled picking up my wine from the floor and sat on my side some and watched him.
"I'm not losing you, so whatever I need to do to make you smile, I'll do it." He replied typing 'most romantic holidays' into Google.
"Why does everyone think you'll lose me?" I frowned looking at him.
"Everyone?" He stopped and looked at me.
"You. A good percentage of your fans. Pretty much everyone." I explained. "Why?"
"Because any other girl would bolt out the door whenever the bloke's ex ends up pregnant." He spat, not in a rude matter.
"I'm not like any other girl, boo." I sighed. "I'm not leaving."
"And I'm thankful for that." He replied moving his laptop to the floor and turned his body towards me. "But babe, it still could happen. I would do anything to make these past few months go away. To make everything perfect again if I could. I just want you happy."
"And I want you happy." I smiled placing my wine down again and straddled his lap.
"You make me happy." He smiled.
"Ditto." I whispered close to his lips. And the second his lips came in touch with mine, I instantly felt better. His kisses always do.
"I miss this too." He laughed pulling back some.
"Earlier." He smiled. "You said you missed us being loving, well I miss this."
"Then stop talking and kiss me." I smiled and he kissed me again. He slid his hands down to my waist and pulled me in closer then slid his hands up my shirt, reaching for my bra clasp, then...
"Hey, I'm ba... oh my God."
Eleanor came through the front door and completely ruining the mood.
"I'm really sorry about last night." She's been apologising from the second she walked in on us and the second she stepped into the kitchen this morning. I'm about to ring her neck.
"Easy on the pancake, babe." Lou whispered in my ear then kissed my cheek and went to sit at the table. "Again, it's fine. We're still adjusting to having a roommate, so we're sorry."
"Speak for yourself." I mumbled quietly. And Louis' right. I need to take it easy on the pancake. It's flatter than flat because I keep pressing it into the frying pan with the spatula.
"Yeah?" I tried to answer in a somewhat cheery tone. Hint word 'tried.'
"Do you want to go shopping today?" And my spatula I was using, it's now on the floor.
"Huh?" I asked turning around and looked at a shy looking Eleanor and a very confused/happy(?) looking Louis. "Sorry, did I hear you correctly?"
"Yes." She giggled. "I just sorta noticed you haven't started your Christmas shopping."
"Well... I-I..." Wow. I don't even know what's going on.
"We can leave whenever you want to, I don't mind. I'm just tired of being stuck in the house all day, so I thought you'd want to go do something." She continued as I looked at Louis, who was already looking at me, and whenever we caught eyes, he shrugged.
"A-after breakfast and showers?" I tried to smile.
"Yeah!" She smiled getting up. "Thank you for breakfast. It was delicious. Shay loved it as well." She giggled rubbing her belly. She's kinda small for being five months pregnant, but as all the doctors say, 'every pregnancy is different' bullshit. "I'm going to go get ready, but take your time."
"Right." I nodded and turned back to my, now burnt and crispy, pancake as she walked out of the kitchen.
"Thank you." Lou said wrapping his arms around me from behind and kissed the top of my shoulder.
"I can't believe I just said I'd go shopping with her." I seriously am completely shocked with what has come out of my mouth in the past five minutes.
"Still, thank you." He whispered against my skin.
"You owe me."
"I'll do and/or buy anything you want." He said seriously.
"I burnt my breakfast." I slumped against him as I poked at my pancake.
"Sit down." He laughed tapping my waist.
"I'm going to make you breakfast."
