Since Harry wasn't at school, I sat beside Maya. We hit of pretty quickly. We had a lot in common. She had moved from Texas 3 years ago and her accent was pretty prominent.
"Hey, um, I was wondering if I could stay with you during lunch?" I asked her. She gave me sympathetic look, indicating that she knew Zayn was back.
"Of course you can! I'll introduce you to my friends. I think you'll like them," she said. I sighed in relief. I didn't want to face Zayn. Not yet anyways. He'll probably have an awesome excuse for not answering my calls and texts.
The bell rang and students began to file out of the classroom. Maya and I walked to me locker. Zayn wasn't here yet. I quickly opened my locker and grabbed my bag.
"Rylee," the unmistakable voice of Zayn made me freeze. I looked up at him and closed my locker. From the corner of my eye I saw Maya watching us. She looked as if she wasn't sure if she should intervene or run. "Let's go."
"I have plans already," I replied coldly. Mustering up all the courage I had, I looked him in the eyes to show him that he couldn't boss me around. His jaw clenched.
"Cancel them."
"No. I can't drop everything in my life for you. You're not that important," I knew that was a lie but I said it anyways. He was probably the most important thing in my life at the moment. I left him standing there, with his mouth open as I joined Maya. I didn't even bother looking back.

Zayn's P.O.V

I ran out of class the second the lunch bell went off. I had to get Rylee. I needed to talk to her. I spotted her at her locker.
"Rylee," she froze and then turned towards me and closed her locker. "Let's go." I held my hand out hoping she'll take it.
"I have plans already," her voice was emotionless. She looked me in the eyes and I instantly knew I'd fucked up horribly.
"Cancel them," I said, shoving my hands in my pockets.
"No. I can't drop everything in my life for you. You're not that important." And she walked away. She didn't even look back.
My heart broke. I hated how quickly I'd fallen for her. For the past few days I craved her company. I wished I could tell her everything. Her scent, her smile, her pout. Everything drew me in.
I wanted to break something. I felt the sudden urge to find her a rip her open. The animal inside of me wanted to kill her for doing this to me.
"Zayn," I felt I hand in my shoulder. Liam was standing behind me. "Calm down, mate." His voice was low and threatening. I saw Jules staring at me intently. She was using her power to soothe me. I felt myself take a deep breathe.
I shrugged Liam's hand off and thanked her.
I was about to walk away when Jules spoke.
"Don't lose her, Zayn. Show her you can be trusted. She's worth it."
