Lost In The Music

Chapter Nine

*Harry's P.O.V*
"How come we only have one remote?" Louis asked for the millionth time.
"Because you thought we needed only one," I replied, walking upstairs. Every door was closed. Great. She could be in any room, about to leap out at me with a baseball bat or something.
"I want more Nandos!" Niall whined as I poked my head into each room. Liam shushed him and tried to help me while Riley stood there smirking at us. Fine, be that way. After looking in every room, I sighed. Dang, this girl was good. After 10 minutes of searching the house, we finally gave up. Everyone trudged back to the kitchen to a smirking Riley.

"Now will you let us use the TV?" She sweetly asked, going downstairs to the game room. At first, Niall refused. We followed Riley, telling Niall to quit forking over the TV. He grumbled, but he surrendered the flat screen. She gave us a triumphant look before letting out an ear-piercing whistle. After a few seconds, Savannah appeared.
"Where were you hiding? I looked in every single room," I asked, dumbfounded.
"In the last room upstairs on the right inside the closet." She responded before she turned off our game, activated the Kinect, and put in a Just Dance game.
"Don't worry; your game was saved," she assured us. The boys complained until she promised us she would make us breakfast tomorrow.
"So that means you'll be coming back?" I teased. She rolled her eyes but shot me a small smile. Right when they were about to start the first round, Louis jumped into the game as the 3rd player. Everyone was laughing at him because he was so into the game. After a few rounds, we all joined in and chose Party Rock Anthem. As the intro played, I glanced over at Savannah. Her face was flushed and her cheeks were slightly red, but she was giving me the biggest smile I'd ever seen from her.

I felt so happy. I was being my crazy, kooky self, and I had gained 4 new friends. Louis seemed like the joker, Liam was serious but was also carefree at the same time, Zayn seemed quiet but was funny, and Niall was the one who laughs the most out of all 5 of them. All of them except Niall had distinct British accents, and they all seemed to have fun all day long. Louis was getting all in during the Party Rock round; when he spun around, he almost whacked me in the face with his arm, and he actually hit Liam during the ending. Everyone was red-faced and laughing. I, being the responsible one, immediately ran to the kitchen to get Liam some ice and poured everyone a glass of water. When I got back, the boys were staring at me like I was a ghost or something.
"What?" I asked as I gave them the water and handed the ice to Liam. He gratefully smiled and pressed it to his cheek. After each of them downing half the glass of water, they exchanged glances before Zayn spoke up when I was drinking my water.
"Uh, we're gonna crash here for the night. Is that ok?" Confused, I lowered the glass.
"Yeah, of course. This isn't my house, but why are y'all so nervous. I can move my stuff out of the guest room and I can just sleep on the couch or something for the night if you want," I said, looking around at all of them. Shrugging, I started to gulp down my water again.
"You don't have to move if you don't want to," Liam said, still pressing the ice to his cheek.
"No, you guys are his best friends and I'd promised my mom I'd sleep on the couch anyways," I got up and went to the guest bedroom Harry'd shown me. After moving my stuff to the living room couch, I padded back to the game room.
"Ok, you're all set," I sat down next to Harry. He looked down and smiled at me before clearing his throat.
"So guys, you wanna finish that game of FIFA?" They all nodded and raced to the couches. Riley and I groaned before heading out to the kitchen.

"So, what's going on between you and Harry, missy?" Riley asked, raising her eyebrows. I groaned even louder, knowing I would have to face this question sooner or later. Sighing, I ran my hand through my hair, a common habit of mine when I'm thinking or frustrated.
"Honestly, I really don't know. I mean, he's nice, and all, but I'm not sure if I'm ready for a relationship again," I quietly said, staring at the floor tiles.
"I know, but if Harry wants a relationship with you, and you say no, then you might be missing out on something great," she calmly said.
"What it all ends up being a mistake? What if we really weren't meant to be together?" I asked.
"You'll be able to tell if it's real or if it feels fake," she reasoned.
"What if it feels right, but it really isn't?" I argued.
"Listen, I know him leaving you was hard, but Harry, even though he is a player, could be the one to help you get over him," she said. Something about her serene tone made me snap. I was basically done with this conversation.
"Easy for you to say! You're ex-boyfriend didn't leave you! You're still friends with him, and I can't even talk to him anymore!" I half-yelled as small tears hovered at the brim of my eyelids. A look of understanding passed on Riley's face as she hugged me while the tears slowly leaked out.
"If he was still here, he would want you to be laughing and smiling, not crying," she whispered into my ear.
"But it still hurts! Every time I think about him, the hole in my heart just grows!" Someone cleared their throat. My head jerked up to see Niall standing in the doorway, a perplexed look on his face.
"Um, are you ok?" he asked, concerned. I dashed to the sink and splashed some cold water on my face, taking a deep breath.
"Just give us a sec, please? Go back to the boys for a few minutes, ok?" He nodded and left, the look still on his face. Riley whisked me out the door and into the backyard.

She led me down a stone path and into a secluded spot surrounded by tall hedges, rose bushes, and vast, colorful, flower arrangements. A bubbling fountain stood in the center. The soothing rhythm somehow made me feel weak. I landed in the soft grass and Riley sat down next to me. I stared up at the sky. The velvet blue sky was dotted with millions of stars, and a cooling breeze came floating in. My hair gently lifted behind me as I gazed up at the night sky, reflecting on my past.
