Lost In The Music

Chapter Three

*Savannah's P.O.V*
I ended the song, feeling content. I'd always loved music. It was like life; there are always different versions. One thing I'd always liked about this room is that it offers a lot of privacy; only Riley and I know about it. Everyone still thinks it was ruined in the fire, but this room stayed intact. People don't come in here to investigate; they think nothing worthy is in here because of how the outside looks. But to me, this band room holds memories of great times. I like to come here and relive them; this place is like my secret cozy hideout. When I'm feeling happy, stressed, sad, or even angry, I always come here– the sound-proof walls ensure no one hears me. I always freak out when people are staring at me when I sing. I barely got over playing the piano, flute, or guitar in front of people, but singing is a giant NO.

I felt like practicing my other instrument, but the only guitar here was Riley's. Oh well, it's worth a shot, I thought.
"Hey Riley? Do you mind if I borrow your guitar?" I asked. There was silence, so I got up and walked over to the door. She was probably off buying another soda.
"Riley?" I slowly opened the door, and there was a boy staring at me. He was really tall, well-built but slim, and had a mop of curly brown hair. When I got over my shock, I saw he had the most amazing green eyes I'd ever seen. But still, he was here, which meant that he had possibly heard me.
"H-how much did you hear?" I nervously asked.
He grinned and said with a lovely British accent, "All of it." Shoot. I looked down, waiting for an insult. When I finally looked up, he was still staring at me.
"You were. . . great. It sounded so perfect," he said. I blushed.
"Oh, sorry! I'm Harry by the way," he held out his hand to me. I tentatively shook it.
"I'm Savannah," I said. His face lit up in recognition for some reason.
"Yeah! You're Riley's best friend! Right?"
"Uh, yeah," I answered, looking around for Riley. I finally spotted her in a corner, slurping down her soda. I walked over to her.
"Riley!" She jumped and put down her can.
"Yes?" She cheekily asked,
"You told this random guy all about me?" I said, motioning to Harry, who was still standing against the wall, watching us. Riley nodded.
"Why?"
"He seemed interested in you and your music," she calmly answered. I sighed and rolled my eyes.
"Anyway, can I borrow your guitar? I really need to practice." She nodded and I grabbed her guitar case and went back into the music room.

*Harry's P.O.V*
Savannah stalked over to Riley, slightly raised her voice at her, then picked up a guitar case and went back inside the room. I turned around to see Riley smirking at me.
"Told you so," she said triumphantly. I rolled my eyes.
"Why is she so self-conscious about people listening to her?" I asked.
She shrugged and answered, "I don't really know myself. Back in high school, she was really confident, but one day, we were playing truth or dare with a couple of jerks. One of them dared her to sing in front of them. She did, but after that, she lost her confidence. She started to think she sounded horrible, so now she won't sing in front of people, but she will perform her instruments in front of people." I was really shocked, and I started to get really mad at those idiots who made an talented, innocent girl lose all of her confidence. I walked inside the room. Savannah was lightly strumming the guitar and humming to herself. The second I walked in, her head jerked up and she immediately stopped.
"Oh sorry, I thought you were. . . someone else," she said, blushing. I smiled and walked over to her.
"What are you playing?" I asked.
"Uh, I'm just learning, so I'm playing something random." She looked down.
"Well, how about I teach you?" I offered. She smiled, showing off her pearl-white teeth and dimples, and agreed. She looked so pretty when her unique green eyes sparkled. I gently placed 2 fingers down on the different frets, and she strummed. I felt so content; like I could stay here forever with this girl I'd just met.

Notes

A/N: Sorry it's going so slow. . .
