*11 years before*
Alice's P.O.V.
"Niall hurry up." I whine. We were going to be late to his surprise party and I didn't want to get in trouble. We were covered in dirt from hiking the trails behind our houses. Niall and I have known each other since we were in diapers. Eight years of friendship.
"Alice slow down. You were going slow before. What happened between now and then?" he asks play fully. He really had no clue.
"I'm not gonna say anything," I say, zipping my lips
Just when I think that I'm gonna break down and tell everything we reach his house. It's so hard to keep things from him because he's always so happy about everything. He always gets so excited over the littlest things.
"Let's go inside to get some gummy bears!" I say a little too happily. He looks at me, knowing I'm hiding something but he must keep his thoughts to himself because he quietly follows me inside.
That was close.
I open the back door and slam it, signaling the others to be quiet. Then I flip on the lights to the hallway and dive into the living room behind the sofa. This was gonna be good.
Niall's P.O.V.
I grab the gummy bears and Alice disappears which isn't too strange. She is always trying to get me to play hide and seek. I roll my eyes and run upstairs to my room, waiting for her to come out. When she doesn't come out after the usual ten minutes I start to worry.
"Mum have you seen Alice?" I ask around a mouthful of gummies. "Mum?"
"She's in the living room, love,"
"Thanks Mum!" I shout, rushing down the stairs
"Alice?" I see a shadow behind the coach and I smirk. I slowly creep closer and all of a sudden "SURPRISE!!".
Everyone I know jumps out from the nooks and crannies of the dark room. I almost jump out of my own skin,
"Happy birthday Niall!" Everyone says, smiling.
"Don't ever do that again!" I say outta breath, putting my hands on my knees.
Alice smiles and hugs me tight. Everyone 'owwww's and I blush.
"Happy birthday Niall," she says grinning from ear to ear.
The rest of the day I talked to as many people as I could but there was so many it was almost impossible. It was awesome to know that many people car about me but after 30 minutes I was exhausted from making small talk. I just sat on the swing, not making an effort to speak to anyone.
"Hey," Alice says siting down next to me with a piece of cake.
"Ooh! Is that mine?" I ask, sticking my finger in the frosting and licking it.
"No! It's mine!" she says pulling away from me, taking her cake away from me.
"But I'm the birthday boy," I pout.
I give her the puppy dog face and she huffs, giving me her cake.
"Yay!" I exclaim and we both start laughing. Her with a beautiful smile and me with a large amount of cake shoved in my mouth.
This is how birthdays are suppose to be.
