Ch 5: The Challange
(Alex's POV)
"Please don't hurt her!" Niall screamed standing in front of my weak body. "If you don't move, I'll have no choice but to kill you both!" My mom said. I hated how abusive she was. "Kill me instead! She doesn't deserve to die!" He yelled. "Very well!" She yelled shooting him in the stomach as he fell over. "Niall!" I screamed. He put his hand on my cheek and kissed me on the forehead. "I will always love you......" He said as he took his final breath and die right before my eyes. "NO!!!!" I screamed. I looked at my mom who was now pointing the gun at me. "You told him you'd leave me alone! We had a deal!" I cried. "Your deal just expired, kid." She said as she pulled the trigger and everything went black.
I shot up screaming my head off. Niall came running in the room, probably hearing my ear piercing scream. "Are you okay?! Are you hurt?!" He yelled, voice cracking, not from crying but from yelling. (A/N I do that a lot XD). "Nightmare...." I said softly. He sighed and sat next to me. "Wanna hang in the boys room with me?" He asked. I nodded vigerously. He carried me on there. I saw all the boys watch a movie. "Is she okay?" Harry asked. "Nightmare." He said they nodded and Harry and Lou got on the bed with me and Niall. I looked at the clock. It was 3:48 am. Ugh. "I-I'm sorry if I woke you up." I said. "Nah we were trying to see who could stay up the longest. Then they would be awarded ruler of the day tomorrow. Wanna join?" He asked. I nodded. I was good at staying up. "Nialler?" I asked. "Yes, Alexer?" He replied. "Is it too late but can you teach me how to play guitar?" I asked. He smiled really big. I bet he was hoping I would want to play guitar. "Sure, but we'll have to get you a guitar first. We'll go tomorrow. All the girls suddenly came in. "Alex's screaming woke us up." Grace said. "Okay you can stay up with us." Lou said. "Except for you, Marlee. You need your rest." Liam said and he took her back to her room. Carter sat in Zayn's lap and Ebby sat in Harry's lap and I laid next to Niall and Beck sat in Lou's lap. The movie 'The Vow' ended and we wanted to watch another one. Harry had already fail and had fallen asleep with Ebby. "How about 'The Shining'?" Niall asked. "No, Niall. Beck cant handle that." Lou said. " Oh yea. Not use to having a sister." He said. I giggled. "Where's Liam?" I asked. "Probably asleep with Marlee." Lou said. Zayn laughed. "Carter failed." He whispered. "I'm gonna go take her to bed. If I'm not back in 10 minutes, I've failed." He left the room just as Liam walked in. He didn't even look tired. "Where were you?" I asked "I had to sing to her a lot before she could even shut her eyes." He said. I nodded. "Liam is back in the game" Niall whispered. He sat down in the floor. Zayn walked in with Carter wide awake. "She was trying to scare me and it failed cause she started laughing her head off." She chuckled. She started laughing like crazy. "okay Carter and Zayn back in. "Okay what about Harry and Gray?" I asked. "Who's Gray?" Lou asked. "Ebony has three nicknames. Her middle name is Grace so her nicks are Ebby, Gray, or Grace" I said. They nodded. "Yea they failed." Liam said waving his hand in front of them and they didn't move. " Hey Beck-" Lou started but saw she was asleep. "Beck failed." He said as he picked her up bridal style. "Can I help tuck her in? She doesn't like it when I don't." Carter asked. he nodded and walked out. "Lets watch 'The Hunger Games." I suggested. "Have you watched it?" Niall asked me. "No but I really want to." I replied. "No. It's way too emotional." Lou said. "I can handle it." I protested, not caring what they meant by that. Lou looked at Niall. "Okay.... But be prepared." Lou said I nodded. He popped it in. They got to the auditorium thingy and Primrose got called for Tribute. A tear rolled down my cheek as I gasped. Niall put his arm around me. I love my new brother. The movie ended and I had cried a lot. Now I realized how emotional that movie was. "You okay, Alex?" Niall asked me. I nodded, wiping the tears away. "Peetah!" I whispered. "He loved her! Now he has her! I wanna see 'Catching Fire!'" He chuckled. I looked over and Lou was asleep and silently snoring. There was knock on the door. "Da heck?..." Niall mumbled and got up to answer it. He came back in with a package. "Carter?" He said. "It's a package for Carter?" I looked at it then at Carter. She was asleep with her knee brought up to her chest and in between Zayn's legs and Zayn was leaned against the wall and one leg was all the way stretched out and the other was bent. "Give it to her tomorrow" I said. He nodded. "Are we the only ones up?" I asked. We both looked around. Lou, Harry, Ebby, Zayn, Carter, and Liam were asleep in different areas of the room. Marlee and Beck were in their own room sleeping. I looked at Niall. "Yep." He replied. I giggled. "What do you want to do? I'm not even tired." I said. "Well we already won so lets have some celebratory coffee and food!" He whispered/yelled. I giggled as we climbed slowly over sleeping people and made our way down the stair and to the kitchen. We ate. "Can you tell me about your dream now." He asked getting serious. I looked down as sadness washed over me. "Me and you were somewhere and my mom was trying to shoot me and I was on the ground because she pushed me and you were in front of me and you took a bullet for me." I said, not even glaring up. He stopped chewing and swallowed really hard. " W-Was your real mom abusive?" He asked. A tear rolled down my cheek. "Yes" I croaked. "My dad left to go to the gas station to get a lottery ticket and I guess he won because I was 5 when he left and i'm 12 now...." He sighed. "I'm so sorry I didn't mean to-" "Niall It's okay. It just brought up some old memories. Everyone has something sad in their life. That's mine. No worries...." I said, trying to sound okay. He sighed again and continued eating. "You want some coffee?" He asked. I nodded and told him to put sugar and cream in it.

We drank our coffee and stayed up all night and I knew even if this wasn't my real family. It's all I got right now and I love them all to pieces.
