Led to You (Stole My Heart)
Chapter 1
Hi. My name is Lailani Kalua (It's okay if you can't pronounce it... People usually just call me Lani). I'm Hawaiian, but I haven't actually lived there... and I've only visited my distant family once or twice. Anyway, I live in rustic Pennsylvania. Actually, Amish country. Not as glamorous as I thought it would be either. I have a sister (20) and an older brother (22), and they're both off to college by now... Leaving me (18) next. I never really thought of what I was going to be, until I picked up my first guitar. Yep, that's right. I play guitar and I'm also a singer-songwriter too. I've played at the high-school talent show, coffee houses, and things like that... But I never thought of it as becoming a big thing for me.
The first time I met Niall was on my trip to England with my mother (She's Caucasian and my dad is Hawaiian, but I don't speak to him much). I told her it was the only place that I wanted to go. She questioned me and said, "Really? I was sure that you would were going to say Hawaii. England... Hm, I don't see why not?" That's where a very high-pitched squeal comes in. I've always loved British culture. The Union Jack, Doctor Who, Sherlock, their fashion sense... It's kind of like we're going to America, except with adorable British accents and smaller food portions.
Anyway, we landed in England and we were walking through the airport. My mom and I were rambling on about the flight and the crappy service lady when all of the sudden screams and flashes were coming from the direction that we were going to.
"Who could that be?" I asked.
"Whoever it is, they would have to be pretty big in order to get that kind of crowd," she glanced at her watch, "We have a couple more minutes to kill, you want to go check it out?"
"I mean, I'm curious but I don't think I'm that curious." I commented. Whoever it was, I wished them the best of luck.
"Okay, shall we go get a cab, awhile?" she asked while pulling the luggage.
I glanced back at the crowd then back at her, "How about you go get a cab and I make a quick stop to the ladies room, okay? Plane bathrooms scare the living Jesus out of me and they aren't a good place to fix your makeup in."
"Okay, I'll text you when I find one." She gave me a kiss on the cheek and took both of our luggage. I walked to the bathroom and let out a sigh. I can't believe that I'm in England right now. I took out my mascara and started to apply it when I heard the bathroom door open abruptly and slam shut. And who was standing there? Our favorite blonde, Irish boy. I looked at him funny and said:
"You do realize this is the girl's bath-" I was cut off as he shushed me.
He put his hand up while he leaned against the door, "Don't. Say. Anything." He panted between his words that were accompanied by an Irish accent. So he was running... why? I didn't recognize him at first, he looks familiar but I can't put my finger on it. I kept on looking at him and started bursting out laughing. I was interrupted again by him shushing me.
"What are you laughing at?" he whispered, raising an eyebrow.
I imitated his whisper and replied, "I apologize, but you look utterly ridiculous like that," I started to laugh again as I introduced myself. "My name is Lailani, but most people call me Lani. Nice to meet you," I gave him a warm smile as he shook my hand (which he hesitantly took).
"You aren't one of them are you?" One of what? Americans?
I looked at him confused, "I'm sorry, one of what?" His facial features relaxed and he said:
"Do you not know who I am?" His Irish accent was thick in that question.
"To be honest, not really. I mean, I've seen your face before... but I can't remember where." As I said that, he let out a sigh of relief. He got up from leaning on the door and shook my hand officially.
"Niall. Niall Horan." He looked at me like he was expecting me to scream.
"Niall." I repeated.
"Yeah." He bluntly stated while putting his hands on his hips.
I leaned in close to him and said, "You do realize you are in the ladies restroom, right?" I started busting out laughing and he soon joined me. "Who are you hiding from, may I ask?"
"Fans... Lots and lots of fans."
"Suurree, and I'm hiding from a carnivorous T-Rex who's trying to eat my feet." I said sarcastically.
He laughed and then looked at me stunned, "Wow, you really don't know who I am, do you?"
I shook my head, "Not off the top of my head, nope."
"Have you ever heard of One Direction?" I'm pretty sure he thinks I live under a rock...
"Yeah, they sing 'What Makes You Beautiful', don't they?" I knew One Direction consisted of 5 boys... But the only one I could remember was the brown, curly-haired one.
He sighed, "Yeah... I'm apart of that band."
I looked at him impressed, "That's very impressive," my phone started to vibrate... it's probably my mom. "But I have to go now, my mom found us a cab." I started to walk out of the room, until I turned around again. "Oh, and you should probably get out of here before they find you," I laughed again, "Anyway, it was nice meeting you!" I smiled as he gawked at me. What? Do I have something stuck in my teeth? Why was he looking at me like that? I walked out to where the cabs parked (picking my teeth because I was paranoid now) and met up with my mom. We stayed at a nice 4 star-hotel. I couldn't sleep at all that night as I recalled what had happened earlier in the airport bathroom.
Niall POV:
Who was that girl? I couldn't seem to get her out of my mind. Someone out there really doesn't know who I am... How is that possible? I got out of the ladies' restroom safely (Thank God one of our security guards realized I went missing).
The guys and I were in the SUV heading home and Louis' obnoxious laugh hindered my thoughts.
"Man, I can't believe you hid in the girl's loo of all places, Neil! That's hilarious!" All of the other guys laughed along with him.
"Yeah, Niall, why didn't you hide in the guy's loo? We barely have any guy fans or any guys for the matter that would notice you." Harry commented. I sighed in annoyance.
"... I thought that was the guy's one," They all laughed even harder, "And Lou, why do you enjoy saying 'loo' so much? Is it because you were named after one?" Everyone let out an "oh, burn".
Lou was sitting in the front seat an turned his head towards me.
"No, Neil, I'll let that one slide... Just because you have gone through a traumatizing and embarrassing event. You're probably having Post-embarrassed stress disorder." Another roar of laughter filled the car and Liam stepped in.
"Okay, guys, put your claws away. So, Nialler, were there any girls in there who recognized you?"
"Actually no. There was an American girl in there, but she had no idea who I was."
Harry's head popped up, "Was she cute?"
"Honestly, Harry, that's all you care about?" Liam rolled his eyes, "Well, that's good. And American did you say? How did you know?"
I imitated her accent, "Because her accent was really thick and she didn't seem fazed by me."
"Other than having a guy in the girl's loo." Lou commented and chuckled.
"Was she cute?" Harry repeated and Liam punched him, "Hey!" he shouted.
"Yeah, she was," everyone gawked at me, "Her laugh was probably the best thing, though."
Louis began to shout, "Neil's got a girlfriend, Neil's got a girlfriend!" And I began to blush.
That day, I spent most of the day googling "Lailani" and searching her up on Facebook. When I finally found her, I found out that she played guitar, she sang, she lived in Pennsylvania, and she was Hawaiian. Wow, who would've guessed. I also found out that I needed to meet this girl again and find out who she really is.
