Loved You First (Sequel to Simon's Daughter)

Chapter 18

Julia’s POV:
“So what did you say to him?” Matt asked me. Me, Christa, and Matt were currently in my living room as I told them that Niall was leaving. Niall and the boys took Lexi out for a day, which left us alone.

“I-I didn’t really have anything to say. We didn’t really talk about it after that…” I sighed, running my hand through my long dark brown hair.

“You always do this, Julia.” Matt groaned. I furrowed my eyebrows, turning to him.

“Do what?” I asked, clearly confused.

“Run away from your problems.” He raised his eyebrows, saying it bluntly.

“No I—“

“Yes you do.” Christa second Matt’s opinion. I rolled my eyes, and walked to the kitchen.

“See, you’re doing it now!” Matt said loudly, so I could hear. The two followed me into the kitchen, and I sat myself on the counter.

“Jules, sooner or later you and Niall need to talk about this. It’s now Thursday and he’s leaving on Saturday for who knows how long, and Lexi will be without her father.” Christa folded her arms, leaning against the opposite counter.

“I know, I know, I know.” I sighed, grabbing a bottle of water from the refrigerator.

“I just don’t understand why you don’t go with him.” Matt shrugged his shoulder.

“It’s not that easy. I can’t just leave everything here. I especially don’t want to just leave you two here.” I replied, taking a swig of water from the bottle.

“Well we can come and visit you?” Christa suggested. I guess so, but it wouldn’t be the same. I would miss my two best friends.

“It still wouldn’t be the same, though.” I pouted; making Matt put his arm around my shoulder.

“Don’t worry, we’ll figure something out.” Christa joined us, and soon enough we were all in a group hug.

Niall’s POV:
“So you told her?” Louis asked as the six of us strolled down the streets of Los Angeles. I nodded my head silently. Ever since I told Julia that we were going back to England this weekend, we haven’t been ourselves lately.

“And…?” He urged me to continue on. Lexi stood in between Louis and I, holding each of our hands. I shrugged my shoulders. “C’mon, Niall. What’s the matter with you?”

“I don’t know, okay!? I’m afraid of losing her. Afraid if losing Lexi…” I sighed, looking down at Lexi who was looking out at all the little shops we passed by.

“Mate, you know that won’t happen. You two love each other, and Lexi has grown so close to you. Jules can’t and won’t take that away from you.”

“But what if she moves on?” I couldn’t even imagine if Jules left me, taking Lexi with her. She was the first girl I’ve ever actually loved.

“Don’t even think that, Niall. You’re just bringing yourself down.” Louis gave me an assuring smile, before I was tugged by my arm. I looked down at Lexi to see her pointing to a park.

“Lads, do you mind if we stop here for a bit? I think Lex wants to play.” I look back at Harry, Zayn, and Liam, who all nodded their heads. As soon as we found a shady spot under a tree, Lexi ran off with Zayn and Harry to the playground.

“You okay?” Liam asked, sitting in the spot next to me. Without giving me the chance to answer, Louis spoke up for me.

“He’s upset that he’s leaving because he doesn’t want Julia to leave him and take Lexi away from him.” Louis bluntly said.

“Wow, thanks Louis.” I sarcastically said. He pat me on the back before getting up to go play with the others.

“Why would you think that would happen? You love her, she loves you, Lexi loves you. Jules would never do that.” Liam and Louis were right. I don’t know why I’ve suddenly doubted Jules.

“I don’t know…” I replied, not really knowing what to say.

“Well why don’t you just ask her to go back with us?” Liam raised his eyebrows. Hmm…I don’t know why I didn’t think of that in the first place. But O doubt she would. She has a job…and friends here…and Lexi would have to be pulled out of her school. It just seems like too much to me.

“She’d never agree to go.” I sighed.

“You never know until you ask, mate.”

-

After playing around at the park for a while, Lexi was getting pretty tired. We drove back to Julia’s before it got too dark, or else I’d get in trouble. I carried Lexi in my arms as the six of us walked to the door. Liam knocked and we waited not too long, before the door opened, showing a smiling Christa.

“Christa!” Lexi smiled, reaching out towards her. I handed her over to Christa, and she stepped aside so we could enter. We all said our ‘hellos’ and Jules kept quiet. I glanced at hr from time to time, but she kept to herself on her phone. As everyone was all wrapped up in little conversations, I pulled my phone out, and scrolled down my contacts until I tapped Julia’s name.

Me: Can we talk…?

I heard her phone buzz, but she didn’t look up at me. She just typed away on her phone, as I hoped she was replying back to me.

Jules <3: Kitchen.

That was all she said. When I looked up to look at her, she was already walking to the kitchen. Louis looked over at me, and jerked his head in the direction of the kitchen; mouthing the words ‘go talk to her’. I sighed and stood up, making my way to the kitchen.

“You can’t keep avoiding me.” I said, leaning against one of the counters, making her turn around.

“I’m not just avoiding you, you were avoiding me, too.” She folded her arms, raising an eyebrow.

“So about this weekend…” I started off.

“Niall I—“

“I want you and Lexi to come back with us.” I said, interrupting her.

“W-what?” She asked as if she didn’t hear me.

“I said I want you and Lexi to come back to London with us.” I walked a bit closer to her.

“Why?”

“What do you mean why? Jules, I love you and I love Lexi. We could be together as a family…” I took her hands in mine, and pressed my forehead against hers.

“But you don’t know how long you’re going to be there. Lexi still has school, and gymnastics and—“

“And we can figure all that out. All you have to say is yes.” I lifted her chin up with my index finger, and kissed her lips gently.

All she had to say was yes.
