Decisions

London

I opened my eyes to the sound of "Please put your tray tables up and fasten your seatbelts, as we are preparing to land". I had slept on and off on the trip, seeing as I was on a 10am flight, and I hadn't had much sleep the night before because I was nervous. I opened up my window a crack, not sure what to expect with the time differences, and saw a picture so beautiful. It was the city of London lit up by the lights of houses, and city buildings, making it glow. I decided at the moment to call it London the City of Lights.
When we touched down, the captain's message came on, declaring it was 7am and 9 degrees Celsius in London. I did the math in my head, and sighed sadly when I realized just how much my sleep schedule was thrown off balance, which was a terrible thing because I LOVED sleep!
I stretched while everyone walked past me, and then stepped out into the isle, grabbing out the last bag out of the overhead compartment, and stepped off the plane into the brightly lit tunnel, which led out into the terminal. I stumbled through security and baggage claim, until I came out into the public area of the airport, where people can pick you up. I searched the crowd of signs, looking for my name. I spotted a homemade sign right up the back of the crowd, saying my name in colorful, childish writing. I pushed my way through the crowd, until I reached the Sheperd family.
"Hi there. I'm May Phillips!" I said, pointing to the sign. "MAY MAY!!!" I heard a voice scream behind me, and turned to see a young boy running up to me. I held out my arms, and he jumped into them. I spun around and pulled him out of my shoulder. I softly asked him "What's your name?" and he said back "My names Bailey, and WE'RE GOING TO LIVE TOGETHER!!!". I heard a chuckle behind me, and spun around to see the people who I was going to live with for the next 8 months, and had already forgotten about.
"May, I'm Cathy, this is my husband Arnold, and I see you've met our son Bailey." Cathy said with a smile. "Well, Cathy, as you said, my name is May, and It is a pleasure to met you." I replied, happy with the general politeness Cathy showed towards me. "It's pretty crowded in here, so let's going to the car. And seeing as you already have a burden clinging onto your shoulders, why don't I take your bag?" It was the first time I had ever heard Arnold's voice, and I loved it! It was smooth and low and confident, which I had a feeling would match his personality. So, we pilled into their little green Beetle, and away we went.
In the car we found out about each other. Bailey liked Thomas the Tank Engine, the color red and ice-cream. Cathy liked romantic movies (especially Titanic), eating in cafes and shopping. Arnold was an accountant who like science, popcorn and musicals. By the time we got to the Shepard's house, I had promises of seeing A Chorus Line the Musical, the first three seasons of Thomas the Tank Engine and apparently, the best café in the world! I had an impression that my time in London would be pretty busy, at least for the first few weeks.
