One Life, Live It

Chapter 9: Day 5

-Day 5: 4:27 PM-

*Zayn’s POV*

So we heard the news about Panama Beach getting busted about the party and the underage drinking, the boys and I have been laying pretty low today. I was bored though and sick of watching TV. Typically I like to laze around and do nothing, but I wanted to do something, to see something. I kind of wanted to be alone too, so I didn’t tell the boys what I was doing as I put on my flip flops and left the hotel to take a walk on the beach.

There was a long pier that was on the beach also, so I decided to walk on that and walk over the water. I couldn’t swim, and I had a huge fear of water, so this was my last resort. That sounded kind of bad, it was more like my happy choice over swimming and getting sand in my flip flops. There was nobody on the pier from what I could see, but before I could really tell, I heard the melody of a guitar and a singing voice.

A girl. Ah, the familiarity of the voice was unreal. There was only one girl I’ve heard sing recently. Could it be? I peeked my head around, seeing the blond sitting on the railing of the pier. Her blond hair was French braid to the side, which ended with loose hair through a hair tie. She had a guitar on her lap and she was strumming. She was looking out to the ocean, so I couldn’t see her face. I rested against the beam on the corner of the platform, listening to her.

“Give a little time to me or burn this out. We'll play hide and seek to turn this around. All I want is the taste that your lips allow. My, my, my, my, oh give me love.”

I felt my eyes close to her voice. Ed Sheeran’s song she was singing. Her voice was so perfect for it. Ed’s voice was something you could get hooked into and her voice was exactly the same. Only her voice held something that almost made it seem like it was breaking apart. Her tone was making my chest ache. I didn’t know her well, but somehow I felt she needed a hug, someone to lean onto.

I opened my eyes as her guitar stopped playing and her voice sung out the last line. “Give me love…”

I couldn’t help it, I brought my hands together, slowly clapping. She jumped, the motion making her lean too far out on the pier’s edge. I quickly ran the few steps that separated us and reached out, grabbing her arm and shoulder, balancing her back on the railing. “Goodness, Zayn, you scared me!” She cried, her breathing coming in quick.

“I see that.” I breathed as I made sure she was balanced and let go.

“What brings you here?” She asked, bringing her legs over to rest on the backrest of the bench that was there.

I stepped up on the bench, doing as she was and sat on the railing to the pier. “Just taking a walk.”

She offered a small smile. “Really? Liking the view?”

I let the question hang there for a moment as a smile became apparent on my face. Her face was still drawn up into that smile. It was really beautiful. I don’t think I’ve ever met a girl with a smile like hers. “Yeah.” I answered, feeling the meaning of the words run deeper. I nodded down at her guitar. “You know any other Sheeran songs?”

She nodded. “I love his music.”

“I can tell.” I smiled. “You sing his songs really well.”

She let out a small laugh. “Wow, the Zayn Malik is complimenting me again. I don’t know how much I can take. I might start fangirling any moment now.” She did an exaggerated eye roll and made a funny face.

What a witty girl. It made me smile like an idiot. “Why don’t you sing some more?” I asked, wanting to hear more of her voice.

“Okay.” She gave in, she rested her fingers against the guitar bridge. “Why don’t you sing with me?”

She started strumming. “I'm gonna pick up the pieces and build a Lego house. If things go wrong we can knock it down. My three words have two meanings. There's one thing on my mind. It's all for you.”

Another Ed Sheeran song. I picked up the bridge, letting the words slip through. She smiled upon hearing my voice and continued to play on the guitar. Our voices held great harmony upon singing together for the chorus. “I'm out of touch. I'm out of love. I'll pick you up when you're getting down. And out of all these things I've done I think I love you better now. I'm out of sight. I'm out of mind. I'll do it all for you in time. And out of all these things I've done I think I love you better now.”

I never expected a British accent and American accent, singing together, would match up well. We were looking at each other as we sung, like we were singing each lyric to each other. I felt the lyrics take a deeper meaning for myself as I sung the next verse. “I'm gonna paint you by numbers and colour you in. If things go right we can frame it and put you on a wall. And it's so hard to say it but I've been here before. Now I'll surrender up my heart and swap it for yours.”

We picked up on the chorus again. As we sung through, I could almost feel the desperation Sabrina was putting into the lyrics, the passion in her voice as she sang. I could hear it for sure now. I was sitting close to her now, in front of her as she played her guitar and rested up against the beam to the pier’s small room. Our voices would grow louder and louder, as if we were shooting our voices to Allah above. I could feel the smile on my face slowly grow sadder and sadder as I see the tears slowly start to fall into a stream on her cheeks.

She sniffed as she stopped strumming the guitar and reached up, wiping at one of her cheeks. “Sorry…” She half-whispered. “I’m usually not this emotional.”

I reached up, wiping a hand at one of her cheeks. “It’s okay. Something must have happened before, right?”

Her eyes met with mine for a brief moment before slowly nodding. I knew she was training into becoming an actress and singer. Somehow I felt she always used her skills to keep up a strong front. I wondered what has happened to make her be like this. I barely knew this girl, yet I wanted talk to her, hold her close, and make herself open up. Her voice, I wanted to hear it. I wanted her to tell me her story through a song that only she could sing. I wanted to hear it. I wanted to feel it. The pain inside her heart that she held so close.

Get over yourself, Zayn Malik, I thought to myself. You can’t be falling for a girl you just met. You’d only break her heart, just like every other girl you date. An innocent girl like her wouldn’t want the Bradford Bad Boi. She was too innocent for me.

But still. I wanted to grasp her heart. I wanted that innocence she carried within herself. Not to be a player going after a girl, but to allow myself to stop thinking myself as a hopeless boy who will never be able to fall in love again. Her heart was crying for me, just how my own heart was crying for her.

I felt my finger lightly trace her cheek as my eyes lingered on her lips. Before I could stop myself, I was leaning toward her. She didn’t stop me. Our heads were slowly leaning toward each other before our lips met. A connection, maybe which was what we had in common. Our hearts held the secrets of heartbreak and the want to love. Maybe it was the yearning, the desperation that lead us to kissing, but either way, it helped cure some of the loneliness.

At least for me anyways.

Notes

Yeah, so I'm a little obsessed with Ed Sheeran and his music at the moment, so that was why I used him as a tribute to this chapter :D

Sabrina and Zayn are soo cute haha :D hm, zayn hints at a little loneliness. Sabrina was crying for some odd reason o.O

Well then. haha next chapter is in Bonnie's POV. I think it's the first time for her, and... pffttt let's just say she finds some treats xD!
