Kendall Meets the Boys
*Liam’s POV *
I slam the door to my flat and kick off my shoes, jeans and yank off my t-shirt. This is such bullshit. Who the hell does that Kendall girl think she is? Asking about Danielle. Judging me for my tattoos. Getting all defensive when I just ask her why she moved here.
I change into an old baseball t-shirt that covers most of my tattoos and some cleaner jeans. I don’t want to lose my job so I’m taking Kendall on a fucking date to some restaurant that’s “romantic” in order for us to come out as a couple. She’s coming here in an hour, so I won’t have to deal with her until then.
I text all the lads, telling them to get the fuck over here. They all agree to be over in 15. Niall’s here first. When I explain I want to tell them all at once, he goes to the kitchen and gets a beer. Then Zayn, then Harry, then Louis (who is always late) show up.
We lounge around, making chit-chat and drinking beer before Niall finally asks what’s going on.
“I am getting a fake girlfriend.”
“What?” They all chorus. “Is it because of Management?” Harry asks.
“Duh. They say I’ve been ‘too bad’ and it’s not good for the band’s image so I need some goody-two-shoes girlfriend to make it better. I’m not allowed to swear, smoke or drink in public and I have to be with her most of the time. It’s bullshit.”
“That sucks, mate.” Louis says.
“Is she hot?” Zayn asks.
I want to say yes but I shake my head. “Nah, she’s too innocent. Not into that shit.”
“So what do you have to do?”
“I have to hold her hand and we have to go on dates. When my rep gets back, hopefully I can dump her. As fake girlfriend and just out of my life.”
“What’s her name?” Harry asks politely. He’s too much of a nice guy, even though he is covered head to toe in tattoos and enjoys clubbing.
“Kendall something. Tonight, we’re supposed to ‘bond’ on our date so that way I can be accurate in interviews.” I shake my head and take a frustrated sip of my beer.
“Why don’t you like her?”
“She sneered at my tattoos. And she’s too nice. Nice people piss me off.”
“Mate, everyone pisses you off.” Louis laughs.
“Everything pisses you off.” Zayn adds.
I smirk, the lads lighting my mood up. “True. Except you guys.”
“True.” Harry gives his cheeky grin. “So what else?”
“She asked about Danielle.”
“Oh the bitch!” Louis exclaims.
“How could she do that?” Zayn agrees.
“That isn’t cool.” Niall nurses his beer.
I’m about to speak again when the doorbell rings. I look at the clock. Shit, it’s 5:55. She’s supposed to be here.
“Bring her in! I want to meet this bitch!” Louis shouts.
I nod and then open the door.
She’s wearing a white, silk dress that is covered in lace as an accent. Her hair is curly and her makeup is minimal and I hate to admit it but she looks good.
“Hi, Liam. Sorry I’m early.”
“I guess it’s okay. The lads are here. Come meet them.” I latch onto her wrist and take her into the living area.
“Guys, meet Kendall.” Like when she met me, she gives a soft smile and a wave.
“Hi.”
Harry, Louis, and Zayn mumble greetings but Niall gets up and shakes her hand. “Hi Kendall. I’m Niall. Nice to meet ya. Want anything to drink?” He shakes his beer as if it’s an offering.
“No thanks. I don’t drink.”
“Why the fuck don’t you drink?” Louis gives her a judging look. So do Zayn and I.
“Where I’m from, it’s illegal to drink when you’re 18.”
“Where are you from? Hell?” Niall asks jokingly.
Kendall smiles, acknowledging Niall’s joke. “The U.S. And the drinking age is 21 there.”
“Well it’s 18 here.”
“Still, I’m fine. Thank you though.” Niall and Kendall share a nice look.
And I suddenly I have the urge to get out of here.
“Well we best be going.” I say, quickly. “Our reservation’s soon.”
“Okay. Nice to meet you all.” I lead her away and off on our “date”.
