Silent Readers

What's with all these silent readers; 1000x views and only a few comments of suggestive/critic/review/excitement style feedback. It really grinds my gears - I'll comment on everything, LITERALLY, everything that I read stating everything that I'm thinking or feeling about what has just danced past my eyes. How on earth as writers are we meant to progress and create if there isn't any feedback?

Someone else tell me I'm not the only one with this pet hate?

ps: yes those review pieces are nice, but I can't help but feel everyone's so positive and friendly towards them and if you get a score less than 9 it's usually followed by something utterly pointless like the way the text is set out and spaced which doesn't tell me anything about the bulk of what I've just creatively pursued to write over the last few hours :(

I feel the exact same way!!! I have like over 2000 views and that's great, but no one really comments!! It's extremely frustrating!! I would like to know what people are thinking! I try and comment on everything I read, at the very least vote AND subscribe. It gets really frustrating

Exactly! I'm glad I'm not the only one. It also doesn't help because you cant tell if there's any interest or whether people are enjoying your work. Ughhh. . Frustrating. Don't even let me start on badly written pieces with 100000x views and 500 comments :(

Right!?!? It is so frustrating!! I don't know Joe people can get so many votes and comments and stuff like that, it's hard! Like I don't think my story is that bad, but no one says otherwise!! It's not that hard to leave feedback people! I'll read your story(s) and give feedback if you want! :)

That would be ace. Thank you love :) ♡ And yeah, I agree, I don't think my writing is horrific so I'm not sure what else it could be. In saying that it doesnt give me much confidence to post anything else.

I actually just started reading Less Than Zero, and I am really enjoying it!! You're good. Like you don't rush things and you explain everything. It's one of the better stories I have read! :)

another pet peeve: new subscribers but no comments ughhhhhh

People often just don't care enough, that's why they don't review.
I am not only struggling here, I do Upload my fic on several sites. I've won Ten awards so far, I get best scores on tumblr fanfiction rating sites and the few people who take the time to review often praise my work yet 99% of my readers are silent readers and it sucks!
So yes, I know your pain.

I totally agree except if someone comments and its just please update it gets on my nerves too :P

I can see where you guys are all coming from. As a semi-silent reader; let me tell you that I try and review as much as I can and leave feedback and comments more than just a simple 'update please', but sometimes it's really hard to try and find something to say that hasn't just been repeated.

I feel your pain! My story Wolf just reached about 3500 views and like... no one comments but the same people! It's hard to tell if they like it or not and it's just frustrating. The same thing happened with Wattpad, too. But I do love my readers who make it worth it. If you wouldn't mind checking out Savages and Misfit for me, all of you, I'd gladly read anything you want me to and leave feedback! :) -Kay
